We chose the cruise for its itinerary. Unfortunately, the "Bordeaux" stop was at an abandoned container dock 100 km from Bordeaux, so not having purchased a costly all-day shore excursion, we didn't see Bordeaux, so that was disappointing. The rest of the itinerary was as stated, and we enjoyed the ports immensely. Eleven days without a sea day made for a very busy cruise. Service was generally very good to excellent, except the day of embarkation, we didn't see the butler until I finally called him 9 hours after boarding. So much for Silversea's advertisement of a butler for each suite who will help you unpack. Food and wine quality and restaurants were very good to excellent. We got to go to market with the chef at two ports, that evening the local products the chef purchased were served on the pool deck. It was a great way to experience local flavors. The first few days of the cruise we had record heat, then the weather became chilly as we sailed farther north, a welcome change. Free wifi was only available one hour each day, and purchasing wifi was quite expensive, so we only had a short amount of time to check our email for contact with friends and family online. But that's ok, it left more time to enjoy the cruise.which we did, very much. Read Less

We are seasoned travelers and we have sailed on Seaborn, Oceana, Azamara , Princess , Dysney and Royal Carribean. This time we chose the Silversea to celebrate our 35th anniversary . We are very dissatisfied, but let's start with good points first. Midship veranda cabin was spacious and comfortable though the furniture was scratched and showed wear and tear signs. Bed was comfortable, linen clean, butler and suite attendant were good. Specialty restaurant Le Champagne was outstanding and breakfast and lunch had many good choices. The dinners in the complimentary restaurants were not so good! It took about 2.5 hours due to a slow service, in the main dining and in La Terrace the food was either over cooked or undercooked and mostly tasteless. The Grill was good but very hard to get the reservations. In the bars and common areas the drinks are served without the coasters or napkins all the time and the condensed water driped on the outfit. No staws for the drinks as well. When I initially enquired at the customer service about the choice of alcoholic beverages, I was told they have Remy Martin VSOP and Courvasier VSOP as a standard. When we boarded only VS was available and the complimentary wine selection was very cheap 2016 2015 bottles. The food and beverage manager initially mislead us by stating the ship has the selection of VSOP but later acknowledged that they did not get any with our sailing. Let me say several words about the food and beverage manager. On our sailing he had his wife vacationing with him and she was mostly by his side. So when you approach him during the cruise she would appear by his side, introduce herself and join the conversation, which I think is inappropriate when you are discussing issues related to the problems with service, since she is not the staff member but just the family member of the staff! On one occasion when Food and Beverage manager was standing in his uniform at the entrance of the main dining room as if he was greeting people and I asked him if the promised VSOP was available, he very rudely informed me that I was Always demanding something which I was not entitled to(standard VSOP according to Silversea customer service written response ), informed that HE WAS HAVING DINNER WITH HIS WIFE and HE WAS ENTITLED TO IT! And informed me that I was interrupting his dinner! My new friend from the cruise was standing by and we both were lost for words. Needles to say I have not heard any greeting from him to the rest of the cruise only angry glares were pointed in my direction! No other beverages of similar quality were offered. Cruise director just verbally appologised that it's not available and that was it. It's not my place to judge, it's just my personal opinion but I think if the food and beverage manager paid more attention to which beverages arrive on board, what is food quality in the main dining and how are the drinks served at the bars instead of personal matters the cruise customers who ultimately pay his salary would have more enjoyable voyage. The Albany Blue eye lagoon tour was a total disaster according to everybody and our lives were seriously endangered on that excursion! (Have pictures and eyewitnesses to prove!) shame! I did submit the formal complaint to Silversea but have not heard from them until my wonderful agent from Vacations to Go contacted them on multiple times. The guest service manager from the headquarters appologised and that was nice, but I am still waiting to hear more. So if you really are looking for a luxury cruise consider your options carefully. We sailed on the Silversea Wind round trip from London to the Baltic Region. The sail out and sail in was a real treat as they only do this a number of times a year from London. We are not new to cruising and have done both large and small ships. This was our first time on Silversea and the Wind hosts about 300 passengers so it is on the smaller side of small ships. I had read several reviews prior to the trip and found mixed results so I was not sure what to expect. While some of the claims were accurate (i.e torn carpet that was actually the outdoor carpet on the walking deck, not any interior carpet) it was not as bad as the reviewers made it sound. The fact is, it is an older ship (it will be getting a re-fit soon). Another comment was about the entertainment which I found to be quite nice. The thing that has to be remembered, is this is a small ship and therefore, you cannot expect a Broadway ensemble of singers and large orchestra. It just does not make sense on a lot of levels. And contrary to another review, they did play current songs. As for the ship itself, it is well laid out and easy to navigate around. You are never too far from anything. They have a variety of dining venues and the main dining room has open seating so you can come and go as you please and never feel rushed to finish your meal as there is no one waiting for your table. This is a big advantage with small ships whereas on the large ones, you either have an early or late seating and it is more production to get you in and out unless you are in a suite category and have a dedicated dining room. The food and service were terrific and all the servers great you by name. How they remember is beyond me. In fact, I ordered two meals that were not on the menu and they were most happy to prepare them for my wife and I. The one complaint we did have is that several of the passengers did not abide by the dress code for the formal evenings and Silversea did not enforce this and allowed under-dressed folks in the dining room on a formal night (Tux). While I appreciate not everyone enjoys dressing for dinner, we do and want to be surrounded by other people that do as well. Therefore, I would have hoped that those people would have been directed away from the dining room to one of the other food venues that did not require that level of dress. Our cabin was a nice size with ample closet space and the butler and room attendant were very polite and efficient in the daily servicing of the room. We did not do many of the ships sponsored shore excursions as we tend to prefer to explore on our own. Of the ones we did, we were happy with the content of the tour. In summation, we were overall very pleased with our experience and will sail with Silversea again. Read Less
