We booked this cruise leaving in January 9 months prior because we like the Owner's Suites and knew we needed to grab those while available. We had fond memories of 2 other Silversea cruises; particularly the butlers we became close with and the food and wine on board. We boarded the ship in Barbados which started things off slightly less than streamline. There were two seperate buses we had to ...
Dawn- Fort Lauderdale to Bridgetown Dec 11-21, 2024
I was so excited to finally get on the Dawn, as I’d seen the videos etc of the new “Otivum, ancient Roman experience”, in the Spa, including a beautiful, turquoise water pool. I ran up to the Spa and exclaimed- where is the pool?! They told me there was no pool- none at all. Just, a relaxation room with one painting that looked like a scene ...
We traveled to Lisbon and enjoyed 3 days before boarding, it’s a great city and we enjoyed our time.
First off, we had a good cruise and very much enjoyed it, we were expecting the 6 star luxury cruise that is marketed, but is not what we received.
Pros:
Beautiful, spacious new ship. Our suite was a nice size and nice balcony. Our room attendant (Anil)and butler were terrific, always ...
Food so inconsistent, and lack of quality more often than not. Ran out of major booze labels, pierria and pelligrino water. I constantly failed to provide service that we expect on a luxury carrier. Staff inexperienced and would respond with a can't do it instead of checking and making sure it was done. Tours although included were too big....average 35 guests each. The formal and informal nights ...
We sailed transatlantic from lisbon to fort Lauderdale. The ship itself is wonderful being relatively new and impeccably maintained.
The suites, common areas restaurants and butler service were excellent overall. Their touted new dining area called SALT was underwhelming. We asked for 2 but got one cooking class which was quite good.
Problem areas were as follows:
Intermittent very slow ...
Having done more than twenty Crystal cruises I have been trying alternatives since their demise (yes, I know they are back in business, I have booked a Crystal cruise for later this year), I tried Seabourne - nearly as good as Crystal - and three Silversea cruises in last nine months. This was my second cruise on Silver Dawn, it didn't have the same vibe as my first cruise, it just didn’t feel ...
There are no bad cruises, for us they are adequate to excellent. However, I am writing this review while drinking what is perhaps the worst coffee at Sea on Silver Shadow. The saga of the bad coffee at sea pretty much sums up the cruise experience. This is our 4th Silversea cruise and we generally like a small ship experience. Besides SS we have cruised on Crystal, Oceania, Seabourn and Regent. ...
This is exactly the opposite of Crystal. Crystal had an old beat up hard product but fantastic service good food and attention to detail. Great lectures.
The ship itself is lovely and a true 10. The dining service is not nearly as good as one of the big ships. I'll call the food okay but certainly not outstanding..
Educational lectures average to poor. Main dining service is just hit and ...
We have done multiple trans-Atlantic crossings on Holland American, Celebrity, and our all time favorite Crustal Cruises which has gone into bankruptcy. We were hoping our excellent travel agent was correct in suggesting Silversea as just what we wanted.
This was a Lisbon to Ft. Lauderdale route wit only stops in Funchal and St.Juan,, P.R. Weather starting out was a little dismal but quickly ...
We booked this cruise 18 months ago to be a short relaxing getaway after the holidays to warmer climate. Unfortunately, Omicron hit, too late to back out so we hoped for the best. COVID test at embarkment (Barbados) actually wasn't too bad, 30 - 40 min. so don't let COVID procedures stop you from cruising. If you get seasick easily then understand this is a small ship and it does roll a bit - ...
