The meals were extraordinary, the service was incredible, and the cruise was absolutely beautiful.
We would absolutely go on another Silver Seas cruise. In fact, I don't think we will ever travel on another cruiseline because are expectations are just too high to ever be surpassed by another cruiseline.
Our suite was very spacious and well appointed. Our butler and maids were very friendly, ...
outstanding in every way. The condition of the ship, room layout, and the staff that made us welcome aboard every time. Christians recommended Denali by Air was spectacular in service and itinerary.
A special thank you to our butler Sumit and cabin maid along with Marina in Reception/Shore Trips. The Denali by Air guide was without peer. Personality, can solve, can do. All the employees and ...
We wanted a smaller boat and this one was perfect! Check in was a breeze, luggage was in the cabin when we arrived, and Daniel, our butler, got us a bottle of champagne immediately. Our cabin was 826. This was a perfect location on the ship for us. We could walk right out onto the pool deck or go through for easy access to the elevators. The laundry was on deck 8, so that was great. We were ...
We have met so many people are on travels who have come to Canada to do the Alaskan cruise, and yet we, who live in Vancouver, have not done it. So we felt shamed into finally taking an Alaskan cruise! SilverSea was definitely the best option - when we were in port, we saw these monstrous cruise ships with thousands of people on them. The Silver Shadow is a beautiful ship with only 382 ...
We started our trip with an extended stay in Anchorage on our own, which was enjoyable and relaxing. The train ride to Seward was relaxing and offered beautiful vistas from the domed car. Meals on board and a "Moose Mary" or two added to the experience. Upon arrival at the port in Seward, embarkation was smooth, no waiting in line, and the champagne served didn't hurt! Our suitcases waited in ...
The trip was referred and we traveled with my wife's brother and his wife. The ship an staff, the service, and food was great (with the exception of the main restraunt) all other restraints were great. Wines were lower quality. Our butler was wonderful as were all restruant waiters and bartenders. All ports of call couldn't have been better and very exciting to visit. We went on several shore ...
This was my first cruise and I loved it. My suite (all cabins are suites) was nicer - and at least as large - as most hotel rooms I stay in. I had a veranda, but other than the veranda itself, even the smallest cabin on the ship is the same size. No "inside" cabins. Very nice.
This cruise had "Gentleman Hosts," who among other things, organized a cocktail party each evening for the solo ...
After giving up on Crystal due to their diminution of services on board and the frenetic pace of the main dining room, we decided on Silversea. What a difference! Crystal still has the best cream soups at sea and the best enrichment speakers and lecturers, but Silversea's service is the best bar none.
I agree with other cruise critics that Shadow is a little worn and shabby, but that will be ...
This was our 3rd Silversea cruise and our best yet. We have previously cruised on the Silver Spirit as well as the Silver Cloud and there is a special charm on the Silver Shadow that I feel the others were lacking. The overall feel for this ship is warm and classy. That being said I have loved all ships, thus cruising for a 3rd time.
The staff, service, food and ship itself were all ...
I try to be helpful to readers here and in my Trip Advisor posts. So this post is mostly about Alaska and cruising the Inside Passage rather the SilverSea, the cruise line I was on (spoiler alert-they are nearly perfect). To cruise Alaska is tricky and requires some insight. I will focus on the typical 7-day Anchorage to Vancouver trip.
To start with, begin your trip in Anchorage, not ...
