We booked 2 back-to-back cruises. Boarding was a joke with only 2 lateral flow testing stations and registration (which itself took some 15 minutes) for 350+ passengers. What we didn't know was that the previous cruise had suffered a Covid outbreak, with all sorts of rumours about numbers circulating amongst those onboard. Thereafter, it soon became obvious that there were problems. 4 restaurants ...
Covid clearly impacted this cruise. We were told that 10 percent of the crew was in quarantine, then told later that it was closer to 50%. This included the cruise director, who was absent the entire cruise, and the captain, who we were told was still providing direction and in charge. Reportedly, no crew member required medical treatment, which was great news. Of course, this impacted ...
Beautiful ship with large cabins and plenty of public spaces to get away. Lots of restaurants, but food choices were somewhat limited. Like most cruises, there were minor issues along the way, but we really enjoyed this cruise.
Embarkation seemed a bit disjointed with multiple stops. Staggered times based on suite category meant no big lines and cabins immediately ready. Our boarding ...
I chose the newly revamped and stretched Silver Spirit, hoping I would enjoy the cruise to the Western Caribbean and Central America. After boarding the ship in Ft. Lauderdale, I had a wonderful lunch in the main dining room, and so my expections were very high. When I went to my stateroom, I was very impressed with its size, the champagne that was chilled and waiting for me. I met my butler, ...
Silver Spirit at Christmas time is a beautifully decorated ship, as well as one of the most pleasant to cruise. The extension added new cabins as well as enlarging the main dining room. No reservations are needed there, and it was never filled. The menu has multiple choices, but does not vary from day to day during a ten day cruise. There is enough to choose from in the main dining room, and ...
Overall a very nice ship in appearance and space to passengers ratio was good. Will not be too judgemental but really expected more for the price and hype of advertising. Embassy suites is nice to stay at night before embarkation---Tip: arrive early for embarkation and miss the gaggle (as early as noon although cabin may not be ready until 2:00pm)...Majority of guests where from Europe (Great ...
After 50+ cruises on the Big Boys RCCL, NCL, Celebrity and Disney ... it was time to experience what Silver Seas is all about.
We opted for a Silver Suite. If you read the brochure before hand, it says the Butler unpacks for you and makes your dinner reservations ... neither true.
Frankly unbeknownst to me most passengers had already signed up at the specialty restaurants.
We went to departed ...
My cruising experience has been a pattern of progression. My first it was a weekend Bahamas cruise on Royal Caribbean. After watching the belly flop contest I learned about Celebrity's promised "more upscale experience." It was then Millennium, followed by an Azamara to Silversea.
My lady friend and I found a great 7 day Caribbean bargain and decided to see if the "all inclusive" ...
Silver Spirit offers comfort, class and lovely cruising amenities for a wide range of ages and nationalities. The cabins are well equipped, with plenty of storage space, full size bathtubs, very comfortable beds and luxury linens and a nice seating area with good reading lights.
The butler service is helpful and unobtrusive and the assistant cleans early and often during the day. We always ...
We embarked in Barbados--Silversea works hard to get you to the ship from the airport and onto the ship, but check-in at the dock was tedious--unorganized. Reception on board was smiley-face friendly, but not much else. Cold towels (good) and warm champagne--glasses half filled (bad) and you had to look for a server. Most arrivals hadn't eaten all day and there was nothing to snack on, and I ...
