We were interested in visiting the ancient ruins in Athens, Petra, and Luxor. The Silversea pre and post cruise Hotels were were excellent. We enjoyed the Muse. There were things we really liked and a couple of things that need attention. We liked the room design. We did not like the black oily soot that came out of the smokestacks and covered the deck and furniture on the back outdoor seating. Soiled lots of cloths before we discovered it. I thought it strange that when my wife and I arrived to eat at the Indochine restaurant I was asked to go get a jacket before I could enter, I went back to room and returned to enter when I noticed eight men in the restaurant who hung their jackets on the chair and were wearing bluejeans and sneakers. Jason told me I only need the jacket to enter but then I could remove it. Quite a poor policy and not consistently applied. Read Less

Cabin was fine but not luxurious. Average compared to other cruise lines with a balcony. Entertainment was poor and boring. No music at the pool and servers did not come up to us and ask us if we wanted a drink. I had bought an excursion for a total of $258.00 and messed up my day so we missed it. I couldn’t get a credit for another excursion and for the price I paid for the actual cruise I was disappointed they would not work with me. I didn’t like having to pay to dine at two of the restaurants. Food was good but I’ve had great food on Norwegian, Holland America, princess and holland. Was disappointed there was not an omelet station and that I would have to order one which took a long time to get. Breakfast was mediocre. The ship wasn’t gorogeous like I expected for a luxury cruise. I did like the size of the ship. The excursions were very pricey. The wait staff was nice and our room Butler was exceptional. Our stay in the ports were pretty short and didn’t like how we ended in Rome but there wasn’t any time to visit the area unless we booked a hotel. Read Less

Liked the itinerary and found the ports in Greece to be very disappointing. restaurants on board the ship disappointing overall food very disappointing cold food and poor options. Our Butler service was poor. Virtually no entertainment on board. The Ports in Greece were very disappointing to us. Disembarkation was the worst I have ever experienced. 2+ hours to disembark a ship of this size. For the cost of this sailing we could have helicoptered between our favorite golf courses in Ireland/Scotland. Rented a luxury home in Napa Valley for a month. Will not ever rely on Silversea quality again. We could not have been more disappointed overall. The quality of beverages we could order was crazy poor. The Pizza restaurant could not make a crispy pizza no matter how many times I sent one back. I asked for Don Juan Tequila they could not get any?? I feel like the breakfast buffet was the worst of all. Read Less

We chose this cruise when it was shortened from 18 to 12 days, ending in Lima rather than Valparaiso, which became an optional 5 day extension. We knew that there would be 5 days at sea, and assumed that those days would essentially be like staying at a 5 star hotel, and they were in some ways. There were 4 ports of call, but we will return to this. The cabin was beautifully appointed as was the entire ship. One could dine in any of the 6 restaurants, with 2 having a surcharge. All but one were excellent and commensurate with a ship of this caliber, with the exception of La Terraza, which served breakfast and lunch, but became an Italian venue for dinner - clearly inferior on all levels, with poor timing (forever) and average food. As for entertainment and activities, fair at best - clearly subpar. On prior voyages with Silversea, there were activities on the deck - pilates, yoga, etc. Here they were relegated to an interior stretching room and limited to 8, which filled immediately. Lectures were in a dark theater at 3 pm rather than in the Panorama lounge, a large space that could accommodate large numbers, with windows as well as a darker corner for slides. Earlier cruises had one night of Dinner Under The Stars, a wonderful buffet on deck - not here. I think that you get the message. The main pool deck even lacked background music - there was one afternoon with live music as background . As mentioned the service was excellent. Last but not least, the ports were fair. Cozumel, where we arrived on a Friday, along with four five thousand person boats. A tour that we bought from the cruise line was SO horrible that the cruise line refunded the cost of the 12 hour debacle. The other ports were fine.................clearly more thought and vetting needs to be done with the subcontractors.................so that's it. I certainly will research the passenger population as well as the ports for the next voyage. I hope that the "kinks" will be ironed out, as the line becomes more familiar with the ship............. We wanted to learn more about South America. Specific highlights that attracted us were zip lining in Costa Rica, Panama canal transit, a visit to Machu Picchu and a visit to the Falkland Islands. Our trip started in Fort Lauderdale and ended in Buenos Aires Argentina. We had sailed with SilverSea on one other voyage to Alaska. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the experience since I do not like group travel in general and cruise ships in particular. So we thought we'd try it again with them. However, this was going to be a much longer cruise (35 days) and on a larger ship (590 passengers). So the old skepticism crept in again. My overall impression was expressed in superlatives. This is an exceeding well run company. I run a small manufacturing company and I know how difficult it is to acquire, retain and manage good staff. But, without exception, I was pleased and impressed. we were both pleased with the genuine friendliness of the staff. Many new us by name and our preferences in a relatively short time. We were also impressed with the quality of training and professionalism of the staff in general. This was especially true in all of the eating venues. I have been very few restaurants in the world that exhibit this level of attentiveness, quality of preparation, presentation, without being pretentious. The occasional formal evenings were also much enjoyed as a welcome change from our increasing informal world. Even the background entertainment was a pleasure. Most evenings would find us listening to Ekaterina on the piano and Tim on the guitar. We also spent many evenings in the intimate Silver Note listening to Ester and Chantal playing our favorite jazz requests. This review is getting too long but suffice to say the selection of local shore excursions were conducted by highly interesting and knowledgeable local people. Read Less
