My Alaska cruise was a mixed bag.

My husband and I have long wanted to go to Alaska and we thought a small ship cruise was right for us. The ship was lovely as we would expect from Viking. The scholars were knowledgable and enhanced our understanding of the locations. The planetarium experiences were both fun and enlightening. There could have been more venues to get snacks other than room service during the evening hours. ...

We chose this cruise because Alaska was on our Bucket List of things to do and because we enjoyed our previous Viking River Cruise. As always, Viking does an excellent job of taking care of its passengers. The Deluxe Veranda room was wonderful--both clean and comfortable. And the restaurants were excellent!! Servers, Room Stewards, Guest Speakers are all top notch. For entertainment (as ...

Beautiful scenery except for the fog

We wanted to see glaciers, the calving of glaciers, visit the town, learn more about the culture, see totem poles, and enjoy the journey. Getting our luggage when we arrived in Anchorage was delayed. The port authorities (only two of them) took a few hours to check everyone's vaccines, etc. The scenery on the bus from Anchorage to Seward was spectacular. We didn't see much scenery because of heavy ...

Originally intended to do a European River Cruise in 2020, but, due to C,,,D, changed to the NA ocean cruise. Blown away by Vikings efficiency, quality and service. Virtually no lines for boarding, dining or entertainment despite nearly a capacity passenger load. Loved the smaller ship, less than 1000 passengers. Berthed next to a competitor behemoth with its ~5000 passenger. #NEVER. The all ...

Alaska and the Inside Passage

The Inside Passage was as beautiful as I hoped it would be. Viking canceled this cruise in 2020 and we elected to take the premium voucher offered, which just about paid for our five-day Denali Extension, on the advice of our travel agent. We are so glad we did. Denali is beautiful and we were able to see bears, moose, elk, Dall sheep, eagles, etc. The Observation Dome train ride from ...

Wonderful ports, staff, with a few weaknesses thrown in.

We booked the Alaska cruise from Seward to Vancouver. The pros: 1.the excursions were interesting and well-run. Alaska is a beautiful and different destination. Whale-watching, glaciers, the small Alaskan towns, and the salmon returning up river were all lifetime memories. 2. The staff—universally cheerful, friendly and very competent. 3. The cabin—very clean and had all we ...

Wonderful cruise, nasty weather!

We had taken several river cruises with Viking and always thought they were top-notch. We had scheduled a land plus cruise to Alaska with another company for 2020 even though we were not fans of "large ship cruising" but had no other choice at the time. Covid cancelled that trip and when we were trying to re-schedule for 2022, we found Viking's offerings and happily booked their land tour and ...

Based on experience with Viking on a 2019 Rhine river cruise we originally booked a Mediterranean cruise for 2020 which was canceled. To celebrate our 50th Anniversary we decided to do the Alaska cruise with a pre-cruise excursion to Denali. The size of the Viking ships was a significant factor in our decision in addition to our incredible river cruise experience. The interior, the amenities, ...

This was an amazing cruise. The luxury and overall service was unparalleled to anything I have ever experienced. The staff and crew were phenomenal and exceeded expectations throughout the voyage. The suite was spacious and had everything we could need. The included laundry service made packing a breeze for the 11 day journey. The restaurants offered an excellent selection of menu items and the ...

This was our fourth Inside Passage cruise in the past 20 years and our first cruise with Viking. We loved the ship and service. The Viking Orion is well designed with plenty of space. You never feel crowded. We chose this cruise for the itinerary and for the ship. Our favorite ports were Seward where the cruise started, Sitka, Icy Straight Point and Juneau. These ports best reflect Alaska. ...
