My first time on a cruise. Booked in April, 2023. Two weeks before we are about to start our one-week land tour, RC had to cancel the 9-1 sail due to "propulsion issues". 3 out of 4 people in our group had food poisoning with diarrhea and vomiting after having eaten the same souffle in the main dining room. This meant that the following days we were very low on energy. This was especially hard for my parents who are in the seventies.

Cheap, cheap, cheap!
If you want even bottled water, pay up! You can buy different drink packages ranging from about $12-$70/day per person. If you don't, you can have water, tea, lemonade, or coffee. When disembarking on land excursions, there was a cruise employee offering bottles of water......but only if you paid extra for that package. This was it first cruise and is likely to be the last. We left 4 hours late and traveled the inner passage at night, couldn't see anything. The ship is fundamentally a shopping mall - hotel on floats with gambling room, and an incredible assortment of bars (who drinks $60/day of alcohol?)

We chose RCI because we have sailed on them before and generally have good experiences. This however was not the case on the Radiance. From the time we got on the boat things were awful. The itinerary was great. I enjoyed Alaska, but I was disappointed in RCI. Yes Radiance is old and small but I expected that. I didn't expect a poorly trained crew. Was very disappointed since most reviews for this cruise ship and line are pretty good. Went on an Alaskan cruise, which meant most of the ships outdoor areas were not really usable. This left limited common spaces to hang out. Food was mediocre, but I did always have something I could eat. Interior room was pretty spacious. Overall, my review would be a 3.5/5 here.

I rate the cruise a 2.5 only due to the beautiful viewing of the Hubbard glacier and excellent excursions at Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan and Vancouver.
