My sister and I were excited to experience Alaska, and we especially wanted to see whales and the beautiful scenery.
This was my first cruise as a Platinum Latitude member. Expedited embarkation was excellent. The behind the scenes tour was great. Loved having the additional specialty dining meals and the free bottle of wine. We took the transfer from the Anchorage airport to the Seward cruise ...

An Alaska cruise has been on our bucket list for quite some time so when planning this, I saw that the Jewel was a potential itinerary. We sailed on the Jewel back in 2007 (Italy and France) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing that it was renovated recently, we thought we'd give it a try and we were glad that we did.
My wife and I sailed with our two daughters (in their 20's). We booked the ...
The price for the Alaskan trip was amazing, so we booked it! The weather wasn't too bad and sailing was great, very smooth. What saw was amazing, I will cruise again to Alaska, looking at late July or early August for my next one. Also wanted to try a new cruise line. The Jewel is an amazing ship the entire staff was so great, very helpful, from the minute you arrive to board the ship, to ...
After doing a short 5 day Alaska Trip about 5 years ago we really wanted to see more. This time we flew up to Anchorage and did the train to Seward. Probably the highlight for us was the Train thru Denali . We checked in for our 4 hour train trip and had our room keys in hand. Walking onto the ship was very calming. No Sail away party or cheezy pics that you had to take to get onboard.

Why did I choose this cruise?
We choose this cruise because it appeared to have more port calls than a similar Princess cruise.
Lessons learned: Look carefully at the times and places of the port calls, and ability to add a land option. With the NCL itinerary, we could not add excursions on the embarkation or debarkation days nor any days before or after the cruise.

We chose this cruise for several reasons. We wanted to go in June, and we wanted to be on a smaller size ship. We sailed on the Jewel about 9 years ago out of New York. It has been refurbished and looks very nice. Prior to the start of the cruise, we did the five day land tour. If one can afford it, then I highly recommend it. We did the rail tour and rode several trains and went to various ...
The cruise was the second part of my Alaska adventure . Something I have always wanted to experience. The ports and excursions were amazing , the scenery breathtaking and we saw bears ! We had a mini suite with a balcony and that was a real treat to be able sit out there and see whales ,seals and the beautiful mountain ranges. Our room steward Shakia (spelled wrong) was charming and very ...
Ship: The NCL Jewel did not disappoint. From start to finish this boat looked great. Never once did I see any aging on this ship at all. It was recently refurbished within the last year and is obviously maintained very well.
Cabin: Our cabin number was 8088. Overall it was a good cabin but did get a little noisy at night. This was not because of any bars/ restaurants on the ship. It seemed to ...
Our previous cruise was on NCL and in booking a trip to Alaska, we choose it again and were not disappointed. The NCL Jewel was updated last fall and feels like a new ship. Our mini-suite was perfect with a little extra room and full bath. We were traveling with our adult children, so it was nice to have the extra space when they visited us or used our balcony for glacier viewing. The staff are ...
