After my 3 day land tour and torture of the 10 hour bus ride from Denali I was looking forward to just relaxing on the ship. I was not disappointed. The cruise was everything I wished for - relaxing, good food and plenty of things to hold my interest. We landed in Anchorage and spent an extra day before heading to Denali. Stayed at the Hilton which was very nice. The train to Denali was ...

We began our cruise tour in Fairbanks. I must say that the land and sea portion were done very well by Holland. We stayed at the Westmark in Fairbanks, the McKinley Chalet and the Westmark in Anchorage. All of the accommodations were very comfortable and well maintained. We had good service and good food if you eat in their places that are available. Loved the Riverboat tour and lunch tour ...

We arrived in Seward a few days early and took advantage of the many amenities offered. Stayed at the Windsong Lodge, highly recommend eating at Chinooks, Used Exit Glacier Guides for a Helicopter Ice Hiking trip and did the 6 hour fjord tour. Embarkation was absolutely painless. Took about 5 minutes just to walk through the cavernous building and get to the ship. There were no lines and we ...

After very busy few days in Denali, we were really looking forward to boarding the ship for a little slower pace and some R and R.. After a long bus trip to Seward from Denali we were greeted by a long line waiting to obtain the necessary ship cards This took almost an hour and a half but then were able to embark and go to our cabin-- by this time it was after 5 We quickly went to the Lido for ...

Alaska At It's Best With HAL

We had the pleasure of visiting Alaska for 20 days, June 5th to June 24th. Included was the one week land tour with HAL - Fairbanks to Seward, and cruising on The Oosterdam - Seward to Vancouver. Let me say that the land tour was outstanding although the Westmark Hotel in Anchorage was far below average compared to the hotels in Fairbanks, Denali, and Alyeska. The day long trip on The Mt. McKinley ...

Let me preface this with the admission that I know this review is long but I prefer to think of it as comprehensive! About us: My husband and I are in our 60’s and this was my fourth Alaskan cruise (his third) but our first land journey. We are self-employed and were a little hesitant to be away from the office for so long but it all worked out well. Because we need to stay in touch while ...
