We wanted to try an upscale line and were very impressed by the Silversea experience. Service, food and overall ship was excellent. We were very satisfied. The itinerary was great, especially since we enjoyed perfect weather for the whole cruise. We did a couple shore excursions and really enjoyed them, whale watching in Juneau with Gastineau Guiding was especially wonderful. We also took the train in Skagway which was very fun and had amazing scenery. Our cabin on level 8 was spacious, well organized and always perfectly cleaned. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the excellent cabin service, even the late night pizza and Prosecco room service! We enjoyed all the restaurants onboard. We loved the Hot Rocks Grill, that was a delicious and very fun experience. They even had fleece blankets to keep us all cozy as we dined under the stars. We tried the La Dame restaurant and were blown away by the delicious, beautiful and perfectly served dinner, what a special experience! La Terraza was a great alternative a couple nights to the also wonderful main dining room. You just can't go wrong anywhere you eat! We enjoyed the speaker onboard and learned a lot about Alaska and the sites we were seeing. Also the singers and dancers onboard were very entertaining and put on a couple of really great shows. We were onboard with several other couples and it was just a fabulous trip, very enjoyable and highly recommended! Read Less

What a pleasant surprise with Norwegian Sun, I was expecting an old ship with miminum fun activities, but I was wrong. Ship is in good conditions (only bad part is that pool is not covered), Cagneys and Moderno restaurant are the best, the French one... well... it depends on what kind of food you like. Entertainment was really good, dancing company maintained everyone on the mood, there was a comic that didn't like that much and another singer that did a good work, best part is done by the cruise entertainment staff, every night dancing, making all family members to participate. Alaska is beautiful, Hubbard Glacier was amazing, due to weather condition we didn't do the tracy arm but visited the fjords and they are amazing!, whales, sea lions, eagles, what else can you ask.... I love Norwegian, and will recommend 100% this cruise. Before the cruise did the Talkeetna Air Taxi to Mt Mckinley.... excellent tour! Read Less

We saw sea otters, whales, sea lions, whales, dolphins, and a shooting star in addition to the Hubbard glacier up close and personal...calving and booming from the ship, not from a shore excursion! What a show! The food and the staff were world class. Shore excursions were pricey but definitely worth it. We preferred the smaller ship, but don't have any experience with a larger vessel for comparison. I must say, these folks know how to throw a cruise!! By way of example: our travel agent told us to be patient and not expect our luggage for several hours - it beat us to our stateroom; our room was right by the stairs and elevators to one of the major dining rooms and the theater and right above the theater rest rooms - didn't hear a sound except the shushing of the sea. NCL staff were helpful, thorough, professional, and friendly. We're definitely going on another cruise soon. Read Less

We started out in Fairbanks on a 4 day land cruise. Overall the land cruise wpuld rate a 5 out of 10. Two much time on the bus with delay after delay. Do not go to the salmon bake in Cfairbanks. Way to commercialized. Find a local restaurant for your salmon. The bar at the hotel doesn't open till 6pm. You would be better off to book your tours privately. The train ride to Denali was great. The hotel in Denali was not ready for us. Again, we had to wait at the welcome center for about an extra hour. The restaurant could not handle the crowd. Long lines, cheapest item on menu was a $16 hamburger. One couple said they waited one hour for their hamburger to arrive. Boy trip to Denali was fun but we didn't see Denali. We saw some wildlife but no where near what we thought. Got back to hotel. Took the shuttle to town to eat. The overview Restaurant was awesome. Next day bus ride to Anchorage and then to Seward was long. Delays in Anchorage and then in Seward was tiresome. Getting on the ship was a breeze. But you get their very late in the afternoon. So land tour is long, full of bus rides and delays and tiresome. Now for the cruise. The Millenium was awesome, Blu Restaurant was great(both service and food was the best on any cruise we have been on). Ship was great looking with plenty of opportunities to eat, drink or do what you want. Debarkation was a breeze. Junea is a nice village. Red Dog Saloon is a must. Skagway was our favorite. Great old town. Icy Strait was great and a lot of whales. Kachikan is a wonderful town. Make sure you go on the float plane and crab feast. All you can eat crab is great. Do not miss this. Be sure to take a light weight water resistant jacket. Good pair of sneakers. Hope this short review helps you on your Alaska Adventure. Read Less

1st Alaska Cruise - Southbound on Radiance OTS From the start this trip was fantastic. Everything getting on and off the ship was very organized. Train ride from Anchorage to Seward worth every penny when compared to the bus option but you do board the ship later in the day. Got to see lots of wildlife and when we did the train slowed down to get a better view. Hubbard Glacier was AWESOME & our ship was able to get in very close to the glacier for some really good pictures. Saw 2 whales breach on the whale watching excursion in Juneau. The ships personnel where just great including the Captain who made an announcement every day. They were very courteous and helpful. Our cabin steward was just fantastic and we saw her everyday. The seaplane ride in Ketchikan was the highlight of my trip even landing on one of the fjords.Ship was very clean and the food was great although I would not recommend the Windjammer just before closing. Any other time the food was great with a very good selection. The main dinning room and the 2 specialty restaurants we ate in where great including the staff. All in all this trip was the best I have ever taken on land or sea and in the future if I sail again it will defiantly be with this cruise line.
