We purchased the soda package, only after asking many questions, and writing down the answers. What kinds of soda are available? I'm a diabetic do you have diet orange? Yes, no they did not! Do you have diet tonic water? No they did not!! is this cans of soda? Yes, no it was not!! Will i be able to have cans of soda in my cabin, with this package? Yes you will!! Everything about the package was a total lie!! My husband is not a soda drinker, but we had to purchase the soda for both of us, ok. Total waste of money we could have had the cans of soda i wanted delivered to my room with the money we spent on the misleading soda package. A couple of the land excursions, were not described the way they really were, and that was very disappointing. We also had a french agent when we were getting on and off the ship in ports, he was a nasty man!! Barking at "passengers" you know paying clients!! Who help pay his salary! I was at one point getting back on the ship the plastic white trays were backing up and our stuff was coming i took two of the empty containers and was stacking them up, he screamed at me "don't touch them that is my job!!" i stopped and picked up my stuff and left. I wanted to "THEN YOU NEED TO DO YOUR JOB, SO WE DON'T HAVE TO" Some of the ramps getting on and/or off the ship were horrible!! Way too steep!! Very hard to handle. We had a man in our group who didn't get off at a couple of our destinations after looking at it. I think that is unacceptable. The women who greeted us for dinner in dinning room, was another person who really needs to think about her job! She was rude to us every single time we went to the dinning room, our group was large 12 or 14 people, but she was very nasty, didn't like the idea that we wanted one table. The waiters, servers were excellent!! Read Less

We traveled with a group and others in the group decided the cruise line, dates and itinerary. The embarkation process prior to getting on the ship was very fast, easy and smooth. The cabin (7054) was wonderful - I love the layout with the desk/seating area near the door rather than on the other side of the bed near the balony. The ship looked nice and seemed nicely decorated. The first negative experience was coming on the ship. Other cruises we've been greeted with free drinks and appitizers, but this one made you walk a gantlet of people trying to sell you upgrades, drink packages, spa, etc. We had to push our way to the elevator to escape! Most everything about the ship and cruise was fine except the dining. Has the cruise industry gone the way of the airlines? It seemed that everything was scaled back and on the cheap. No more chocolate on the pillow. Only 3 courses (appitizer/soup/salad, main and dessert. Other cruises had 4 appitizer, soup/salad, main, dessert. Unlike other cruises I struggled to find 3 offerings I thought sounded at all good every night. I was really surprised by dessert. I haven't met many desserts that I don't love. I had ice cream several nights because nothing else looked at all appealing. There way a distinct shortage of chocolate!! The few time chocolate was offered, it was with something coffee - and I don't like coffee or just a dribble of it. The dessert selection at the buffet was equally dismal. No chocolate, hard/cheap store-bought cookies, only soft-serve ice cream in strawberry and vanilla (again, no chocolate!!). The one night they did have a main course I liked (lobster), they also offered a crab salad and thai chicken. Why couldn't they offer those on other nights? Being cheap with the lobster and crab? I don't get it. Read Less

I flew into Anchorage 2 days early to sightsee. I then traveled to Seward via bus from Anchorage to embark on the Sun. I did back to back cruises for 14 nights. I loved Alaska and it was a once in my lifetime trip. I did not like the food. The first week I had port credits and the second week I had specialty dining. I did not like the specialty dining restaurants , the food just was not good. The meat and fish were always over cooked and flavorless. The dining room hostesses were great. Not giving me a hard time about dining solo. The ship was overrun with unsupervised kids day and night. Kids having meltdowns were a standard. I had a balcony for the first week and ocean view the second week. Alaska is beautiful and interesting and I enjoyed the glaciers. The first week was cold, wet and rainy. 50-60's first week. 67 the second week, some rain. Read Less
