Radiance of the Seas - First time on this older boat, and it shows

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

My first time on a cruise. Booked in April, 2023. Two weeks before we are about to start our one-week land tour, RC had to cancel the 9-1 sail due to "propulsion issues". Then one week before we start our land tour, RC cancelled the 9-8 sail due to the same "propulsion issue". We fly out on 9-9 for the land tour, not knowing AT ALL if there is a 9-15 sail. I think we were notified on 9-13 or 9-14 ...

Food and service need attention

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Millennium

I traveled with a group of four on the Millenium going southbound from Seward. We traveled northbound on Holland America and we were all excited because Celebrity is (was) our favorite cruise line. Boarding was super easy and I was so happy with how everyone greeted us. After a week on the ship we feel that the food was pretty tired (limited choices and lacking of taste). We used to have three ...

Nothing but disappointment from Celebrity on the Millenium.

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Millennium

I have sailed on 31 cruises now and Celebrity Millennium takes the cake for, by far, the worst I have been on yet. What is so disappointing to me is Celebrity Edge is by far my favorite ship I have sailed on. Celebrity was my preferred brand until this cruise. For added context I am in my late 40s and sailed with my adult family in concierge class rooms - I bring this up because while it may ...

This was my first cruise with Celebrity and my second cruise to Alaska. My first cruise to Alaska was on NCL's Bliss. I had read that this cruise line was "upscale" however my experience was mediocre. The buffet food and main dining room food was sub-par. The wait staff were pleasant. I didn't eat at a specialty restaurant, so I cannot speak on that. There were very few activities geared for ...

A few issues

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Chose the cruise for its Alaskan itinerary, and because we had enjoyed our Pride of America Hawaiian cruise several years ago. This ship is more luxurious, but we preferred the informality of the POA. The first problem we encountered was upon entering our cabin with an "oceanview picture window". The window was filthy with rust and salt spray between the panes, so the "view" was very ...

Premium Dining: Before cruise, at least I couldn't find a way to reserve, prior to the cruise. This feature have a few items that will still have extra charge. First of all website don't have specific instructions about premium dining. At least I was not able to reserve before the cruise departure. If there is a feature, is not clear enough. With premium dining you can have ONLY 1 ...

We decided on this cruise because we had a cruise next credit that we needed to use and it had been many years since we had visited Alaska. We were excited about the cruise and also wanted to see Denali. We booked the Denali land tour as well as the 7 night cruise. Included in the cruise we a number of extras including an airfare special. We have cruised with NCL and Oceania numerous times. When ...

Not a value for the money....poor service..COVID

I was underwhelmed by the entire NCL Jewel experience. We booked this trip during COVID, when NCL had no customers. We decided to purchase a suite and paid a large premium versus our other friends who purchased inexpensive inside cabins. Just before the cruise, our friends were allowed to bid on upgrading to a suite and for only $500 (per couple), they received a suite. This was $1,500 less ...

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Silver Shadow

This cruise was to be a celebration of my husband's retirement and our 36th wedding anniversary. It was a constant worry from the beginning. The SS Covid requirement of a negative test before boarding led us on a scramble around Anchorage the morning of boarding to find a test without the support of the cruise line staff. We knew the requirement but not how difficult and expensive it would be to ...

A Ship and Crew Who Were Not ready to Sail

While the front-facing staff on Silversea are uniformly friendly, it was evident from the start that things were out of sync. the life boat drill that left us sitting for close to an hour because it was started with boarding incomplete. A guide to take us to our life boat station that failed to do so. Menus that were missing pages or for the wrong service. Orders that were unfulfilled or ...
