A Ship and Crew Who Were Not ready to Sail

Review for Silver Shadow to Alaska

While the front-facing staff on Silversea are uniformly friendly, it was evident from the start that things were out of sync. the life boat drill that left us sitting for close to an hour because it was started with boarding incomplete. A guide to take us to our life boat station that failed to do so. Menus that were missing pages or for the wrong service. Orders that were unfulfilled or ...

Great Ship, Great Service, Amazing Wilderness

Review for Viking Orion to Alaska

We chose this cruise because we wanted to do Alaska and liked what we were hearing about Viking. Focus is on the destination and not a resort experience which is fine with us. Adults only, superb dining, junior suite was plenty large and very comfortable, service was always impeccable. While not having the big theatrical production on board, the entertainment was top notch and a great way to ...

3 out of 4 people in our group had food poisoning with diarrhea and vomiting after having eaten the same souffle in the main dining room. This meant that the following days we were very low on energy. This was especially hard for my parents who are in the seventies. Talked to guest services, expecting an excuse and that they might offer some extras onboard. But not to much avail. They did offer ...

After two years of no sailing, we book the B2B Alaska cruise to kick start our cruising experience again. Alaska, what beautiful scenery, this was our fourth B2B for Alaska, it is a little earlier in the season then the previous cruises, but this was perfect as there were snow covered mountain tops which provided a completely different photo opportunity and visual experience. Embarkation and ...

In May 2022 we enjoyed the Alaska & the Inside Passage cruise aboard the Viking Orion. This was our first trip with Viking and our first cruise ever. We have to say they have spoiled us and set the bar incredibly high for other cruise competitors. When we started looking at options for an Alaska trip, it became apparent that a cruise was our best bet. We then started looking at different ...

This was our third viking cruise but our first ocean one. The ship was wonderful, clean and set up similarly to the river boats only on a larger scale. Food was good, staff was wonderful Our housekeeping staff was excellent and attentive. I did feel that we did not have enough time in ports to explore the towns. On our stop in Ketchikan we were on an excursion from 8:30-12:30 and the ship pulled ...

The cruise started in Seward. Stopped in Juneau. Skagway. Icy straight. Haines. Hoonah and Ketchikan ending in Vancouver. Amazing independently booked excursions. But. When I checked in. The bathroom toilet was full of poop. Room has not been cleaned. The room has smelled like sewer the entire trip. The food is pretty bad except the specialty restaurants have been great. It’s mostly very ...

We thought this would be a 5 star cruise but we were in for a surprise. There were numerous problems in various areas. First let me explain that I am a experienced cruiser with many high end such as Silverseas, Seabourne, Oceana, Regent and Crystal. 1. When we first entered our stateroom, we had no Freiya products in our bathroom [ none ], and this continued through out the entire time of the ...

The cruise was the second part of my Alaska adventure . Something I have always wanted to experience. The ports and excursions were amazing , the scenery breathtaking and we saw bears ! We had a mini suite with a balcony and that was a real treat to be able sit out there and see whales ,seals and the beautiful mountain ranges. Our room steward Shakia (spelled wrong) was charming and very ...
