The Cruise to Nowhere
"Many felt it was not good enough to refund only the ship-board part of the cost, after all, they would not have travelled at all had they known there would be no visit to Tasmania or New Zealand and Regent should therefore refund air fares too.On New Year’s Day 2023 in Melbourne, the first destination on the cruise to New Zealand, we received a letter stating, “Due to local regulations, to enter New Zealand navigational waters we are required to perform a cleaning operation on the ship’s hull”...."Read More

The Cruise to Nowhere

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

Regent Seven Seas Cruises proudly claim to provide an unrivalled experience. There are two ways of looking at that as I recently discovered. We joined the Regent Seven Seas Explorer on 12 December 2022 in Singapore for the cruise titled ‘Coastal Beauties of the Pacific’ which completed in Sydney on 29 December and on the same evening departed on a cruise which was to end in Auckland. A ...

We signed up for this cruise in 2020. We hoped by end of Oct. 2022 things with Covid would have settled down. Since this was to be our 6th Regent cruise, 2nd on Explorer, we believed the tours would be very good and safe. We believed we needed to be careful in many parts or the world now. Especially since we are in our seventies and walk a bit slower. We believed Regen would take good care of us ...

Not worth the extra expense

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

We booked this cruise for the itinerary, and because the dates fit. Regent is more expensive than our usual cruise, but we wanted to see if it was worth the money; it was not, which is why the cruise only received 3 stars. We had booked a 14 day cruise. Three months before the sailing date, Regent sent us a notice that the cruise itinerary was being dramatically changed, dropping many cities ...

Chose this cruise for itinerary an Regent's reputation. Overall really beautiful ship. Very well maintained. Excellent cabin and bathroom with more storage then we could use. Outstanding food. Service was excellent and very friendly. One port of call skipped and another changed because of weather(obviously not Regent's fault). They did not handle the excursion changes well. Included excursions ...

We thought the ship was gorgeous and the suites were great. However our shower backed up and flooded our bathroom until it was finally fixed on day 6. Certain things struck me odd. On the TV it welcomed only my husband when we booked as a couple. The food was not anything special. We gave up on room service as it was always cold. Never had that problem on other ships. The staff was very nice ...

Beautiful ship but did not meet expectations

First RSSC cruise, chose the ship because it’s supposed to be the newest & best of their fleet. Beautiful ship, good layout of public spaces, lots of dining options (food so-so at Sette Mari & Pacific Rim; liked Prime 7 & Chartreuse; La Veranda ok, Pool Grill good). Enjoyed Pré dinner drinks at the various lounges. Embarkation & disembarkation were a breeze (did our own private transfers ...

We have taken 3 different cruises with Regent. The past two were very memorable, as was this one until the final day on board. The first days of this cruise experience were similar to our past cruises. Staff was very friendly. The dining experience breakfast thru dinner was great. The cabin we were in was amazing. We chose the Grand Suite because of the additional space and amenities ...

We sailed on the new Explorer. We were very disappointed with our cabin on this new ship. Very small compared to the other Regent ships. (we have sailed on all the others). Couldn't move in the room. Closet too close to the beds, no walk around space. Very disappointing compared to the sister ships. Our cabin was like a much less comparable cruise line cabin. We like Regent because we have always ...

Possibly not "The World's Most Luxurious Ship"

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

User Avatar

6-10 Cruises • Age 80s

Luxury encompasses the entire passenger experience. The physical environment of the ship is part of this experience, and the Seven Seas Explorer does present an environment that is richly decorated and often spacious, but the passenger experience suffers some of the same faults that I have encountered on other Regent ships. After a rather bad experience on a recent cruise on the Seven Seas ...

Regent is more NCL than Luxury

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

We have sailed on Regent going back to when they were Radisson, ( Pre-Regent days), and thought they were excellent. We last enjoyed them a year ago in Alaska, and we were looking forward to sailing on their new ship the Explorer. Advertised as the most luxurious ship a-float, we thought this would be the ultimate in Regent Cruising. Suffice it to say I assume that the cost of the ship and its ...
