Generally a Disappointing Experience

This is our cruise number six and the first and the last cruise was hosted by Royal Caribbean. The first trip was very good; actually it was all we hoped for. The last trip could not, in any way, live up to our expectations. Here is why: • The food. The food in the main restaurant was generally disappointing and often it did not have the right temperature. There was regularly served lukewarm ...

We had a very good holiday on this ship, the staff were great, the food was good although the vegetarian choice was sometimes limited. The entertainment was good and the ports visited were very interesting, except perhaps for Salerno and Messina where we had been before. We did not take part in any organised trips as they were not value for money. we managed to organise our own trips quite ...

Surprised.

I gave my review a title of surprised but unfortunately it was surprised in a bad way. I've been on several RCI cruises so thought I knew what to expect but I was totally wrong. My recent cruising experiences have been with other cruise lines so perhaps that clouded my experience but in reading other reviews I find that's not the case. Dining was not a good experience. We tried before going on ...

The best part of the cruise was the ports and the people we met in this adventure. As for the ship is is a bit tired and warm. Although there were some updates to her in December may more are warranted. Check-in-We arrived at about 1:45 and it took 1 hour until we were on the ship and in the room. Our luggage made it to the room by 4 which was a relief. Windjammer-very lack luster foods provided ...

This was our 3rd - the last 2 being with Thomson for 7n each and we thought we would try a longer period with another cruise line. This allowed a comparison. RCI is very American. The arrival - transfer on was poor - 3k passengers meant that we did not get our bags for 5 hours (took longer than the flight and wait from UK. Lots and lots of queueing) Ship and cabin- good and well appointed - ...

The good, the bad, the disappointing

The Continental hotel on Las Ramblas was clean and very early European. The much advertised free buffet was very disappointing and we avoided it. 6/10 for the view and location. Embarkation on the Serenade was very smooth, however we were greeted, not by a welcoming party but a lady shooing us into a line of "my time diners" insisting we should immediately book our dinner for that night!! Not ...

The Ports Made The Trip

We are not avid cruisers but had never been to Europe so we thought a Cruise for our 25th Wedding Anniversary would be a great way to see some highlights of Europe. We saw a great deal at each port we visited and I am glad we selected the itinerary we went on. If I had to base my opinion solely on the ship itself I would give a very low rating. We had a Junior Suite and were wanting to ...

Corporate cuts are obvious in reduced service and quality

We recently sailed for 12 nights on Royal Caribbean (RC) (Serenade of the Seas) and had a nice relaxing trip. The destination of the Western Med and the ports of call were excellent. The RC employees were helpful and pleasant. We also had the opportunity to upgrade to a Grand Suite just prior to sailing and the added benefit of Concierge Service really made a difference in our experience. ...
