First time going north. Chose this ship and port (Boston) for a new experience. Getting on the ship was super easy. Uber from the hotel dropped us off at the entrance. Showed passport and sea pass and was on our way. Interior cabin again. Spacious but (as always) difficult to tell time. Bed mattress were well worn. could use replacing/revitalizing Main Dinning room (MyTime dinning). Jithenra "G2" & Bojan were awesome! Spacious in and around the chairs and table. Allure was like a sardine can. Food was well. Service was great. Bojan totally earned his wage and more. G2 was most polite and most accommodating. Did not attend much of the shows (Headliners, Comedy, Quest, Battle of the Sexes, etc) spent most of the free time at the Schooner bar with David, CHeefield, Reynoldo, & Karen. Which they were great with service. Drinks were well but Danny the piano guy needs to get a few new songs for he played the same songs with the same jokes each night. First night or two was fine but when you can predict what is going to happens next, well .. the joke is gone and becomes annoying to hear. Schooner bar was the nicest looking, view was awesome. coloring and appearance was really nice. Guest Services - They should be ASHAMED! My first experience with Guest Services ever. Friends in the past had an issue with Mystery Dinner where their reservation was unknown and required much effort to resolve. Therefor I so stopped in and asked about it. The only thing she said was to call 333 or something like that and then asked for the next guest like I had nothing else to discuss. which I did stop the other Guest and restated at which she stated they would be the people to talk with and asked for the next Guest again. Second experience, I had witnessed a door in the Schooner lounge area blow open, i think this was was Day 2 or 3. There is breezeway between the interior and exterior doors. The Exterior door must not have been properly closed by RCI maintenance crew (not a public area within and exterior has the crew only sign on it). The interior door (violently) blew open and the rush of wind knocked over several drinks onto a guest's laptop. Door could have hit someone and seriously hurt someone. Another Guest (different then owner of the laptop) actively attempted to close the door but couldn't, A second Guest helped and they almost didn't get the door closed while almost getting hurt in the process. Mean while a RCI employee (Supervisor role maybe due to gold strips on the shoulders) a few feet away, on the phone, did nothing. Guess that phone call must have been more important. The long short on this is: The only employee that help the Guest was David the Bartender (not a server). At Guest Services they told her to pack the laptop in a sealed bag with rice and then use a hair dryer on it, which they provided a holey bag and rice. It did boot up but she said that the "T" key did not work. Guest Services informed her that her configuration was wrong and she needed to correct it. Breakfast on Day 7 (the last full day) she was still discussing (exclaiming) with Guest Services. Now this is after they (GS) went to David and had him show where this supposed door is (They told the Guest that there isn't any door in the Schooner Lounge). Most sad that an RCI employee made a mistake of not closing and locking a door resulted in a damaged laptop, potentially causing serious damage to people but didn't. And RCI GS giving the Guest the run around, accusing her of lying, giving her false information to correct the issue, etc. Just take down the event information and pass it onto the people that take care of these things ... grrr Ports were great! Bar Harbor, Saint Johns, Halifax, etc were beautiful. Sad the colors didn't turn but enjoyed what there was. Fog was really bad in St John's for a few hours in the morning but let up and then came back in. GLBTQ - really didn't see any. Had tried to get to the Friends of Dorothy but was most complicated for our schedule and dinner time. Would have enjoy the company of others... I would do this trip again on this ship. Read Less

We loved the intimacy of Serenade having had several cruises on RCI's larger ships. This cruise made us Diamond so we certainly plan more. Found My Time Dining to be just our thing having always done fixed time dining in the past. Entertainment staff was one of the best led by Cruise Director Topi who we believe is our best experience of a cruise director yet. Loved the Centrum entertainment venue and found the Vintages on board to be even better than most. Staff there appreciated and knew wine better than any ship to date. Cruise director empowered his team effectively and more than we have seen in the past. As usual with RCI, never enough pool chairs and the usual chair hogs in Solarium and evening shows in the theater had more people saving 8-10 seats than we have had in the past. We ate at Izumi several times and thought it to be excellent. Loved the outdoor dining area in back of Windjammer. ' Read Less

Royal Caribbean was so disappointing this time around. The staff did not seem sympathetic to our plight of lost luggage, and assured us that we would be able to shop for clothes on our excursions. We were not able to shop for any essentials on our excursions as we only went to souvenir shops. I suggested that Royal help us find a way to get to shopping and they did not. All they were able to give us for the five days that we had no luggage was a white t-shirt and sub very sub-par toiletries. They offered us laundry service, but the guest services desk lady must have not been very in touch with what was happening because when I asked how long our laundry would take to get to us she said "48 hours." Luckily, housekeeping was a bit more realistic and when we discussed it with them, they were able to turn our laundry around in a couple of hours. For formal night, she offered to give my husband a free tuxedo, but offered nothing to me. The lady at the front desk (Jasmine) told us she would locate our luggage, and then told us she couldn't locate it. When I asked her who she called, she told me SAS. To that I told her that we had a transfer from United to SAS and our luggage was most likely with United. She asked ME if I wanted to call United myself! My husband firmly recommended that she do it herself. Later that day, she told us she was able to locate it with United. So that caused an unseemly delay in getting our luggage because of her ineptitude. I came crying to the front office after four days of no luggage , no makeup and no toiletries and she offered me 100 dollars credit to my account (any outfit on the ship cost no less than 54 dollars each) and a night at one of their restaurants in her words "out of my own goodwill towards you." I was aghast at the lack of sympathy. She later told me our luggage would be waiting for us in Estonia on the morning before our excursion. To my dismay, we did not get our luggage as promised in the morning but at night. The ladies in the spa, were very gossipy and rude, even talking about guests behind their backs. The people working in the Windjammer never smiled or offered any table service. The whole crew (aside from a few people in housekeeping and in various bars) were amazingly lacking in customer service. After this trip, I will never want to board a Royal Caribbean trip again! The first day can be a little rough after the airports, and transportation to the dock and then the cattle call of boarding and standing in line for what seemed like forever, and then you are finally on board, only to be called for the muster drill. I know this is an important part of the orientation but once again standing in straight rows on the deck for the better part of a half hour was starting to cause considerable discomfort. That being said, the rest of the journey made up for that 1st day. The food was good in the main dining room, and of course the more causal Windjammer always had a big selection. The specialty restaurants (Portofino & Chops) were excellent. The cabin steward was great. Purchased a small Wifi package to keep in touch with people back home. TIP - you get faster connect speeds during the off-hours. Most of the ships personnel were courteous. Purchased several excursions from R.C. and they were good, for a glimpse of the cities. You really have to spend more time in the popular destinations like Rome, Florence, where there is so much to see. Kusadasi, Turkey was a pleasant surprise! Some rough seas heading back in to Barcelona but all in all it was memorable trip, and we hope to cruise again soon. Read Less
