We wanted to celebrate our 40 years of marriage. We did 2 consecutive cruises - Caribbean and then crossing the Atlantic ocean to do the second one including Azores, Ireland, France, Belgium, Holland with final port Copenhagen. We enjoyed both cruises. The service was excellent as a whole. Entertainment and activities included events for all ages and interests. Performances in Tropical Theater were impressive. The cabin was attended twice a day, which you cannot experience even in the high class hotels, the food was good as well. Windjammer offers quite a variety of different cuisines. Food exceeded our expectations in term of quality. The best of service we received at Reflections in the evenings, we were served by Zhelio Hristov, who was very helpful and polite. The whole staff we got in contact was very friendly, we were impressed by its attention and attentiveness. We will certainly recommend Serenade of the Seas to our friends. Read Less

They made sure we were aware of all that was happening so we wouldn't miss things. Getting on and off the ship was pretty easy. No big delays. Most of the passengers we met were friendly and interesting. We will definitely be booking another cruise in the future. May e a different destination and ship so we can check them all out!! I guess the only thing I can say on the "down" side is there were soooooo many jewelry stores. They were everywhere lol. All in all it was a fantastic trip we will share with everyone. We had a balcony and will never have less. It was great to wake up to and go to bed after sitting out there for a while Read Less

We chose the serenade because of the great destinations and with a 7 year old girl it felt like a convenient way to get around and see Scandinavia and Russia. Having said that we were very conscious that the ship itself was fairly old and small and we’d read reviews about everything that has gone wrong from embarkation to food to the service. But we were so pleasantly surprised right through the programme. Getting on the ship was an absolute breeze. We were taken into lunch at the Windjammer and by the time we’d finished the rooms were ready. The rooms also was just about right and clean with a cozy balcony. It was serviced twice a day with my child’s bunker bed put down during the evening turn down service. Our daughter absolutely loved the kids club activities in the adventure ocean club (9 am to 12pm; 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 10pm). So much so that she didn’t join us in a couple of ports. This gave us ample time to lounge around, check the 16 bars without having to worry about her. This was such a blessing and the team at adventure ocean where thorough professionals providing fun educational ways to keep the children engaged. The service also was really exceptional and personalised. We got the same table in the dining room. But also in Windjammer. The staff is from all over and friendly and ever willing to engage in conversations. The food was amazing all through and surprisingly we did not get bored although we didn’t do any of the speciality dining. The staff is particular about hiegene and everyone follows through with sanitised hands. No cases of Nora virus was reported on the ship which was the other thing we were worried about. The other impressive feat was the way a helicopter landed to fly someone out. It was just the most amazing sight. And the copter looked too large but we didn’t feel a thing when it landed or took off. And there wasn’t any fuss at all. Entertainment on the ship was also quite nice in the tropical theatre, in the centrum and the safari club. Some of the home grown productions are quite good. The team really makes an effort and it comes through. We didn’t do shore excursions with the exception of Russia for visa. In all other places we were offered a shuttle service into the city centre for 10 dollars. There was no hassle getting out or in whatsoever and no preference was given to people on the shore excursions as we had read. All in all without having to spend on any additionals the cruise turned out to be a lovely experience and we are considering more such cruises. We will in all probability sail on the royal Caribbean. The ship offers gorgeous views of the sea with glass everywhere. Read Less

My wife and I decided to go on the 7 Night Scandinavia And Russia Cruise. It was awesome!!! The ship, while a little on the dated side, was clean and the crew was fantastic. We had an Aft facing Cabin on Deck 8 and it was very nice. As ours was on a corner (8168), we had a little bigger balcony. There is plenty of storage in the cabin. Our TV had issues, but they worked to get it fixed quickly. The bathroom is small but bigger than I expected. We did "My Time" dining but only ate in the Reflection dining room on the Formal Nights and one breakfast. If you want to wear a tux, I recommend renting on from RC prior to the cruise. No need to pack one. The meals in the Reflection was very good. I think they could have added a little more variety, but what we had was very tasty. The service for dinners was fantastic. They even brought us out a special dessert for our anniversary!!!! The breakfast in the Reflection was not very good. They throw you at a table and the service was very, very slow. When we got our food it was not very warm. The rest of our dinners were in the Windjammer, which was very good as buffets go. My wife figured out that Room Service is very cheap ($9.50)!! We ended up doing Room Service for our breakfasts which helped on Excursion days. We spent quite a few evenings in the Pub. They had excellent service and one of my favorite beers. The singer most nights did requests and we did a lot of sing alongs with the rest of the audience. We did watch one show in the main theater. It was nice but not memorable. Excursions were very good. The only one that was disappointing was in Stockholm. Due to the drought they were having we could not go into the canals (not RC fault). So we just cruised around the main channel. The tour guide did a great job. We then were supposed to take a bus tour of old town, but due to construction, we ended up sitting in traffic. Very disappointed. The Tallinn Old Town and Beer tour is very good. They mark it as "Strenuous" but it is not for us mid 50 year olds. Saint Petersburg was very good. We did the Grand Petersburg and Hermitage. We were lucky as we were the second tour into the Hermitage that day. Saw a lot of the city and they take you shopping at a big tourist trap place. Prices were good though, but get in line early to pay and stand your ground. A lot of line cutting. Helsinki was also good. We did the Town Tour and Ice Bar. Both were great. All in all, if I had to do it over again, I would do Stockholm on our own but the others were good to be on a tour (it is required in Saint Petersburg unless you have a tourist visa). Getting on and off the boat was very easy. Embarkation Day, we had a very smooth experience, but don't expect your bag brought to your cabin. Ours were way down the corridor from our cabin. We had very little issues on Excursions days getting on and off the boat. We only had one long line and that was in Saint Petersburg. On our return to Copenhagen, things went so smoothly, we were off the boat and in a cab in about 30 minutes. I highly recommend having your bags handled going off the ship (unless you are traveling light). The elevators are packed so you have to lug everything down stairs. We only had to go from 8 to 4 to our waiting area and then down to two but it was still a workout lugging our small bags. I was very pleased with this cruise. We are going on a Christmas Cruise with RC on the Jewel of the Seas. We are looking forward to it. Read Less

Food was excellent, lots of choices, kids program amazing...kept my oldest occupied with waterslide races, scavenger hunts and tons of family activities....kids pool was great as there weren't a ton of kids on board so wasn't crowded but more pool options would be beneficial, fitness area was clean and lots of equipment to use! Shore excursions were great, used the royal Caribbean ones for Antigua, St Lucia, Curacao and Aruba, did beaches as we were travelling with 2 kids....beaches were great and excursions were long enough to keep everyone busy and gave time to experience the sand and beautiful location but not so long that you had to buy food or kids getting to tired. Would go again in a heart beat. Location of this stateroom is great...away from noise, above the life boats far enough from elevators.....rooms are amazingly quiet. Read Less

We chose this cruise not for the ship but for the destination. Had to travel 3.5 hours from our home to Fort Lauderdale and we were nervous wrecks by the time we got there. Park & Go was GREAT! Extremely helpful and accommodating. Highly suggest using them if you need to park your vehicle. Check in was awesome. Took no time at all and we were onboard. First snafu: we requested a handicap accessible room and what we got was FAR from it. They put us in what was supposed to be a Large Ocean View cabin. If that was a large cabin, I'd hate to see what the others were. We tried to get my husbands scooter in there and there was absolutely NO WAY we could get around that room. We went to the Guest Services desk and they could not do anything due to the ship being booked full. My husbands electric scooter sat by the elevator down the hall the entire cruise. In Barbados there was supposed to be a complimentary shuttle to assist people from the ship to where the excursions meet. There was even a SIGN informing this! We asked a RC representative standing near the sign where we picked the shuttle up and she said there wasn't one. We pointed out the sign and she mumbled something and pointed in the direction where she told us to walk to. On the 3 block walk to the dock we saw a golf cart pass by and stopped it. IT WAS THE COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE. We asked its driver to please inform the RC rep that there is indeed a shuttle. The food was "ok". The buffet in the Windjammer offered lots of selections but the food was terrible. The eggs tasted like powdered eggs, the biscuits & gravy gravy tasted like flour. Even the food in the one and only dining room was meh. Specialty Dining is the bomb!! We went to Chops Grille for my husbands birthday and then again a second time. It was great! Giovanni's was good and Izumi was so-so. Spent most of our sea days in the Solarium pool which was awesome except for people hogging the chairs even though there are signs posted everywhere no to. The Park Café was a nice alternative to the Windjammer and the stuffy dining rooms. One problem we encountered the entire cruise was 2 younger couples hogging the stairs and railings going into the pool. And when we asked them to move they did so but with an attitude. They also brought a personal radio into the pool (area) and had it playing loud music we didn't care for. We asked the Life Guard on duty to say something and ONLY 1 TIME HE DID. This continued through the entire cruise. The entertainment was meh, too. DO NOT go to the Cinema Theater if you want to see a movie. Cramped, only seats 40 people and the sound system is lacking terribly. Our room steward Leonel was great. We had fresh in our bucket every day and the room was immaculate. We'll do RC again despite this cruise's shortcomings. Read Less

We've been on the Serenade several years ago on a Mediterranean cruise (R/T Barcelona with Cannes, Florence, Naples, Rome, Venice, Ravenna, and Dubrovnik as the ports ). The ship is just the right size for us. The dates and ports were good as there were two new ports (St. Croix and Martinique) and favorite old ports: St. Thomas, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. We also like the Solarium pool area, where we spent most of our on board time.. The dining in the Windjammer is great with the circular counters so you never are really standing on a long line. The Centrum was very popular and mostly extremely difficult to find seating. We often observed the Centrum activities from deck nine where we had our cabin. Wish that the Centrum was a bit larger with more seating on decks four and five. All in all a lovely ship and a great cruise. Read Less

This was a new itinerary for us and an amazing deal. The Seas were very rough the 1st half of the cruise, but that's out of anyone's control. Our cabin was midship on deck 8 with a balcony and was perfectly located on the ship. Central to everything and never having to go outside to go anywhere. There was a large door at the entrance to our cabin area which greatly muffled any sound from the later hour activities. The sauna and steam room was complimentary and never crowded. It would have been helpful to have a timer in this room or an attendant to explain how to use these rooms. It was not staffed at all that I could tell. The ship was in beautiful condition, clean, and very detailed. Even the wall art on the stairways was changed daily providing lots of interest. The food was great compared to other ships and the design of the buffet with round stations and separate drink bars kept people orderly and never felt overly crowded. The selection of movies shown was great....but why they keep the lights on during the movie was annoying. Also a popcorn machine would have been a nice touch. Entertainment was good in the main theatre but cancelled one night... never found out why nor were we informed ahead of time. An announcement would have been appreciated. We showed up 1/2 ahead to get good seats but heard from other passengers that the movie Elf was being shown instead....very disappointed. Although good, there was a lot of piano entertainment and would have enjoyed more variety. The casino machines were the tightest ever....although I did hear one guest won a few thousand dollars, tried the slots several times, but a $20 bill in a quarter machine lasted 5 minutes and no play back.....got bored quickly. Never saw anyone "on a roll" the entire 11 days. The solarium was a wonderful place for adults to relax around the pool and hot tub, or just sit on a padded lounge chairs without the loud poolside music. Even the pool tables outside the Safari club were specially balanced to accommodate the movement of the ship. Made playing very fun! On the down side, smoking is still allowed in the casino. And vocals of the centrium entertainers was lacking..... many times you couldn't understand the words of the songs and just murdered many of the tunes. Overall, our experience was fabulous. Thank you! Read Less

This was the first sailing out of Ft. lauderdale after the ship had returned from dry dock for 3 weeks getting a face lift. The ship looked first class with all new carpet throughout. This also made the ship smell fresh. The Serenade of the Seas is very easy on the eye, with beautiful art and soft neon lighting throughout. The food quality in Windjammer was a step above our previous experiences at the much larger and newer RCCL ships (we have been on over 20 RCCL cruises). The staff was also extremely pleasant & accommodating at every level. It may have helped that they were either new to the ship or back from vacation, as I previously stated this ship was in dry dock for repairs and refurbishment. Our cabin was in great condition, with ample space & plenty of room for our belongings (though you have to look hard to realize that there are storage cabinets behind mirrors). There was absolutely no foul smell anywhere on the ship during this cruise. Our cabin steward was wonderful & left us towel animals on 3 of the 4 nights. We ate at each of the specialty restaurants & once at the main dining room. Both Chops & Giovanni's Table were excellent, with great service & very accommodating to our every wish (even multiple entree's). Izumi (japanese restaurant with sushi options) was not up to par for a dinner experience, better to go there for a lunch. The main dining room was pretty, not extravagant, and the food was average, which isn't bad considering that they cook for close to 2000 guests. I'd recommend that you pre-purchase a specialty dining package for at least 3 or more nights. Surprising to see lifeguards at each pool during all open hours (even the adult only pool in the Solarium). I'm assuming that this stems from the unfortunate drowning of a child on the Anthem of the Seas last year. Entertainment was again, better than I expected for the most part. The house orchestra that accompanies the main shows is really talented & 9 pieces! The comedian was top-notch & provided both a family show & a late night adult show. There always seemed to be live music playing somewhere on the ship all day & night long, so there is no dearth of entertainment, dancing, singing, etc. The bars are scattered throughout the ship with plenty of different seating options. We did partake of the Diamond lounge a few nights & found that to be a bit limiting in both seating & food options. Keep in mind that those that qualify for the Diamond lounge can now get up to 3 free drinks at any bar on the ship during those same open hours of 4:30-8:00pm, so there really is no reason to go to the lounge itself. The Concierge lounge for suite guests is smaller, with the same nasty food options, but their lounge does provide a very nice ocean view. There is a nice, but small cinema on board where we saw a very good film, they also show G-PG rated movies on deck on the big screen at night. The gym is in excellent shape with ample equipment & no problem getting a machine. There is also a self serve laundromat which comes in handy for those longer duration sailings. Embarkation was very efficient, and disembarkation was extremely streamlined (no need to fill out a customs form any longer). The Serenade of the Seas is a very lovely ship that caters to adults primarily (not much for teens or young adults), the ships size is just perfect (not too small or too large) & it appears to be priced right for a very comfortable and memorable vacation. My only complaint is that RCCL continues to allow smoking in it's casino. Read Less

Was a little upset that I did not receive body lotion in my cabin since I am diamond plus, don't think it would have cost more than .30 cents, think Royal Caribbean is cutting back on so many things, but did without. The ship was clean, lot to do, had a very nice dinner table. Met friends I cruised with in the past and we had a lot to talk about, met a lot of new friends. We had a very nice table for eight for early dining, enjoyed going to dinner with a lot of conversation, very relaxing. Halloween party was very nice, danced a lot, and loved a lot of costumes? This was my first cruise; however, several members of the groups had cruised on Royal Caribbean cruises before and highly recommended it. My experiences, as a whole, were very positive. The space in our stateroom was adequate. I appreciated the in-room safe, plenty of closet space with hangers and shelves, drawers and lighting. The bathroom was not cramped. The shower had good water pressure and temperature throughout the cruise. The towels were clean, but some were a bit ragged on the edges. Our room attendant did a nice job keeping our room clean. We were organizing a three generation girl's tour, with my mother (87 and spry), daughter (35 and an experienced traveller) and myself (64, small mobility issue). Our plan was to stop over for 3 days in Iceland, and then visit family in Denmark, and we decided that this cruise would give us an opportunity to extend our trip and get a brief overview of other countries we had only experienced through the news and history books. The planning went extremely well. We had a day in Stockholm before embarking, and used a HOHO bus to get a look at the city. The airport was quite a distance from the city and from the port, so allow time to get to your destination. The ship, Serenade of the Seas, was huge! It is quite new, and has deservedly won an award for the best crew team at least twice. We were impressed with the crew who proudly represent 65 nationalities, and that there were 53 nationalities in the guest makeup. It was like a little world within the ship - only a friendly, accommodating world with people getting along. Also the efficiency of loading the equivalent a of small town onto a ship in 3 hours and getting them all happily established in their quarters was wonderful to see. It was a real pleasure that the Captain of the vessel, Captain Tor, was Norwegian. His patter was excellent, and we loved seeing him appear at so many of the events, and interact with the passengers. His jokes were great, (I hope the Chief Engineer finds the keys to the ship) and he plays a mean guitar! We booked the 6:00 pm dining hour, for dinner, although we don't normally eat that early. However, we wanted to be free to enjoy the other evening activities. The meals were lovely, and varied. A little bland, but that is to be expected when planning food for 2,500 people of 53 nationalities! One night, after talking to a crew member about his country, we asked if the kitchen could prepare a special Philippine dish, and the next night it was proudly presented to us! And it was delicious! Our servers were friendly and all of them were professional, efficient, and extremely helpful. We enjoyed the variety of the Entertainment and activities on board, although with 5 days of shore excursions we didn't have a chance to climb walls or use the pools. But we did enjoy a couple of Spa experiences including excellent foot reflexology from the lovely Peruvian, Dio. The shows were entertaining, varied, child friendly. Everybody seemed to be happy with the shows. Topi, the Entertainment Director and Aysy, were approachable and charming. Aysy is Russian and gave a great presentation on Russian history and culture. Regarding the Ports of Call and shore excursions, all were interesting and exactly what we came to see. It was a shame that 7 huge Cruiseships came into St Petersburgh for the same 2 day period. This was not the fault of the Serenade of the Seas, but it took over two hours to clear the customs to start our tour of St Petersburgh. We were 2.5 hours late starting on the itinerary, and already tired from standing in line. The crush of tours through the main attractions was very difficult - hot, crowded, and we had to keep following our guide and keeping an eye out for the other people in our group. The variety of things we saw was excellent. I used Alla Tours for the two day excursion, and also for a evening Ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty. Tip: In Tallin, it is possible to walk independently around the old walled town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and truly beautiful. We found a good map, and explored on our own, which was a good change from chasing tour guides in St Petersburgh. (But thank heavens for the tour guide in St. P!) We did not travel with children, but we were impressed by the number of families on board. They all seemed to have a great time, and many of the families we talked to had children who love cruising, because of the activities. I have only one point I would like to make concerning the level of "upselling" on the ship both before, during and after the cruise. It was incessant and confusing. Offers for extra restaurants, drink packages, spa packages, sales in the gift shop, casino packages, and book your next cruise really took away from the experience. I actually felt at one point that we might not get access to water unless I bought the water package! However, outside of that small concern, which we soon learned to ignore, we had a great trip. And give me a trip with that many ports of call any time! (Especially in a comfortable climate - I don't like hot weather, or lying around any time). Happy cruising, and thank you Serenade of the Sea! Read Less

this cruise went where we had been wanting to go. service in all areas was excellent I have no complaints. because we were sailing up to where the sun doesn't set the interior cabin was the way to go. could have used a small nite lite in the cabin to see to go to bathroom in the reflections dining room we had a wonderful tale for the four of us that were traveling together and our waiter cedric was the best his asst dana was fanstatic. they always were a step ahead of our needs. was nice to be spoiled!! the shows were very entertaining and funny at times.. everyone is so talented in their perspective jobs. it made for a very smooth voyage. with the world being the way it is in todays time, it was wonderful to see all people smiling and greeting other people with respect. maybe the world should take a lesson from cruise ships with people from all over the world on it. wow that's the kind of world I would like to see thanks for the great trip Read Less

We choose this route because we wanted to visit the baltic and this was a perfect experience. The entertainment is fantastic the musicians are really good (all of them), dining experience is fantastic the only problem is when you want to have dinner because there hours which can be very busy. We took the St Petersbourgh shore excursion due to problems with visa, but they are very expensive so we rather walk or take the bus. Cleaning in the Windjammer could be better during lunch time. Very nice service in board, the barman were attentive and fast, the pool is nice but full of kids so we end up in the solarium (no kids). The ports of call were fantastic, and they give you enough time to visit without any problem. The only problem I found from shore excursions is they are very slow as some people are always complaining they have to walk. Read Less

An excellent opportunity to relax combining high level tourism, living in a luxurious environment and simultaneously enjoying on board any activity you wanted to have immediate access to it ( theater, cinema, gym, swimming , entertainment , etc) and excellent quality, variety and quantity of food all day plus variety of gourmet restaurants at reasonable price. On the other hand the cost of some of the excursions may be improved as well as the variety and quality of the entertainment (more and more resent movies, theater). Very important was the embarkation de-embarkation process which was very well organized very quick and with minimum effort of the passengers. The crew members were always available and ready to explain and assist, always with a smile. The Windjammer, you could always find a place, the food and the service excellent and the cooks eager to satisfy any request. This level should at least be maintained as such. At last , a bravo to Taor and Marcus, our waiters in the dining room and bravo to the management for an excellent job. Read Less

We chose this ship and cruise because of the prior experience and the personnel on the ship We were able to have the same waiters as on previous trips and many recognized us from our previous cruise. The entertainment was fantastic with a good variety. Our cabin well maintained and our steward "Sheredon" does an excellent job. Visit to the dining room surprised our prior waiters "Kevin & Max". Kevin & Osden were our waiters this time and what an nice asset to the cruise line industry. The Executive Chef :Benedict Capriata" stopped by to see how satisfied we were with the food provided. This does not normally happen and what a nice treat. The Head Waiter : Mihal Oprea is real people pleaser and always upbeat and friendly. In the Windjammer our waitress "Mengol Lee" made this restaurant a dining pleasure. Made friends with many of the staff and met fellow cruisers to vacation with. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and it was our first trans-Atlantic cruise. We had fantastic entertainment, great musicians, good singers, and dancers. There were lots of shore excursion options. We especially enjoyed the one in the Azore islands. It is impressive that these remote islands are virtually energy self-sufficient, except for the importation of oil and gas, having a combination of geo-thermal, wind, solar, and hydroelectric. We enjoyed the two lakes and the village in the crater of the extinct volcano. Visiting a pineapple farm was also a unique experience! It certainly makes me appreciate the two years of work and growth that goes in to get my pineapple for breakfast every morning! The tour of the Keukenhof Gardens in Amsterdam with the breathtaking display of tulips was the experience of a lifetime. It was an item on our bucket list! It was a great celebration, and we would do it again, but we will have to have a different excuse than a 50th anniversary! Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the length of the cruise that leaves on that specific date. We had one particular date and a specific amount of time to be gone. This ship is smaller than others that we have been on. It was filled with retired people escaping the cold winter. However, that did not affect the activities. Serenade had something going all the time. Good entertainment that we really did not want to miss. But the point of our trip was to slow down and recover from a hectic life. And we were able to do that. We ordered room service, sat on our balcony and read. We did participate in the shows, some games and some restaurants.Everything we participated in was high quality. The nightly entertainment in the theater was amazing. The food served in all of the restaurants was exceptional. The staff was outstanding. It was a memorable cruise!!! Best we've had. One thing we did different this cruise was participate in the Murder Mystery Dinner. That was so much fun. The actors did a great job in making us believe we had witnessed a murder. We had to solve the murder. Royal Carribean has always done their best to see that we are pampered. Read Less

This cruise was back-to-back with Norwegian fjords. We chose it because we have done the Caribbean and Mediterranian, and wanted something different. The itinerary was supposed to be Stockholm, Estonia, St Petersburg, and Helsinki, but the weather was bad in Stockholm, so we went to Estonia, then spent two nights in St Petersburg instead of the one we were scheduled for, and then went to Helsinki. I know some folks were disappointed, but we were happy to spend more time in St. Petersburg as we have both spent a lot of time in Sweden. Seranade is a little smaller than the larger ocean-going ships, as it goes up through the fjords of Norway, and I expect a larger ship may not be able to navigate some of those narrow passages. We actually enjoyed the smaller ship. The big ones can be a bit hectic. Food and service were excellent, as usual for RC. We had two excellent waiters in the main dining room, and very much enjoyed dining with them. Their names were Pablo and Vyacheslav. Pablo was from the Dominican Republic and Slav was from the Ukraine. Excellent cruise and highly recommended. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have done the Mediterranian and Caribbean and wanted something different. We actually did back-to-back cruises to the Norwegian fjords and the Baltic (see separate review). August is not the best time of year to go to Norway, but it was our vacation window, and even though it was chilly, rainy, and windy, we still enjoyed it. The two best stops for us were Bergen and Gieranger. It poured rain while we were in Bergen but it was still fun to walk around the town and eat at the seafood market. Gieranger was our favorite stop, and the weather cooperated that day. We took and excursion to a goat farm where we saw how they make that brown Norwegian cheese. The road across the mountain was a bit nerve-wracking for a fellow with vertigo (me), but it was well worth seeing the countryside, the waterfalls, swollen streams, and the mountain tops with newly falling snow. (Yes, it snowed that day in the high elevations.) What was amazing was to see mountains rising to about 6000 feet directly from the fjord itself. And sailing up the fjord to reach the sea was a very peaceful and pleasant experience. Royal Caribbean provides excellent service, and we were extremely impressed at how well organized they were for those of us who had back-to-back cruises. We took the opportunity to take a hop-on-hop-off tour of Copenhagen, and as we left the ship, we received new cards so that when we returned, we were able to go directly back to our stateroom. It was interesting to compare the cruises of Norway and Baltic sea with the one in the Caribbean. The food was more variable, in order to satisfy a broader clientele, I suppose. Being from North Carolina, I was amused to see a German fellow loading his plate with what they called NC barbecue, and it was a reasonable facsimile to what I am used to. Overall, the food was good both in the buffet and the sit-down restaurant. We also ate in the Italian and Japanese restaurants, both of which were excellent. In fact, the sashimi was flawless, and the service was very nice. Great experience. We had a balcony room, which was very nice. Read Less
