Having done more than 20 cruises with Princess, I understood what their “loyalty program” meant and why we aspired to be Elite members. Today is so different, the speeches remain the same but nothing else. Gone are the precious internet minutes; discounts in the shops are only on full priced items; no special toiletries in the bathrooms; and reduced access to the Captain Circle rep on board. ...
A second world cruise this one to celebrate retirement and selling my business at 73. Compared to 2011 the list of changes makes for a ho-hum experience. The major is that Princess has gone back on their Loyalty Programme that I joined 15 years ago, The major is that elite was promised free internet and now have to pay. That cost me 1000 dollars additional, Perhaps I would have reluctantly ...
We are a retired couple who have cruised with Oceania for many years. In the past, they have been outstanding; however, recent cutbacks have resulted in our May 2023 Singapore to Dubai cruise falling well short of our expectations. Specifically:
* Although the meals were well-cooked and attractively presented, the food quality was lower. We received shrimp whose meat was mush; hard to cut ...
I only have a few observations:
Overall, the staff was genial and helpful
My room steward was excellent, well trained and responsive.
Bar service in the Chartroom was expert, cheerful and well trained; they ran out of my preferred brand. The competence of the Wine Waiters in Britannia was very uneven; some were excellent and others needed more training.I also perceived a shortage of ...
Friends had spoken well of cruises they took on Oceania (before the pandemic). Our originally scheduled cruise with Oceania was cancelled due to Covid, but we cancelled before the cruise line did, so we could only get "future credit" rather than a refund, which we would have preferred. We used the credit to book a cruise on Nautica to Spain, the Canary Islands, and Portugal. We enjoyed the ports ...
This cruise started as a river cruise but it was canceled twice so we opted for an ocean cruise. We heard viking was a notch above the rest which turned out not to be true. The cruise started out of San Juan we paid to transfers to and from the airport and were expecting an agent to meet us at the airport, nobody was there and not we are outside the security zone of the airport had to walk around ...
We choose this itinerary because it sailed to Asia where we've never been. The timing (end of January, 2020 to February 2020) was perfect. We'd never been on Cunard even though we've cruised many times. We chose this line as we'd heard wonderful things about it. We were pleased with the ship, her amenities, the service and entertainment. We had an auspicious start in Dubai with easy embarkation. ...
The service in the Britannia restaurant was as great as always. But the weather across the Atlantic was dreadful. We were late into Bermuda and Port Canaveral. The Churchill cigar lounge was full of cigarette smokers and resembled the Dog and Duck pub rather than an intimate cigar lounge as it is advertised. Day activities were poor and because of the weather the decks were often closed. ...
It was my 70 th Birthday so we flew to Southampton to board QM2.
We are diamond members.
Apart from our room leaking from a broken toilet next door for a week ( again) being moved to a room that had unstable floors for a night ( as it wasn’t fit for anyone to live in) terrible waiters who reached across the table and your meal to pick up your wine and smell it
The list goes on. I am on ...
We selected this vessel due to cross over Russian Arctic on 25 day Voyage.
The Expedition program ( under contract ) was good with most Arctic Ocean stops accomplished. However the vessel is an old ( 30+ years in service ) with poor public spaces and mediocre staff service.
For two pax price ( $100,000) no real value here.
SILVERSEA has taken older vessel and placed in “ expedition ...
