We chose this as an anniversary cruise and to see the Greek Isles for the first time. We were 100% satisfied in every way. The passengers were 95% retirees so the on-ship vibe was relaxed, moderately paced, courteous, and totally pleasant. The entertainment events on board were extraordinarily excellent and varied-/the best we have experienced in seven cruises on a variety of cruise lines. We were amazed several times by how good they were. The production values and talent were memorable. Our balcony stateroom was excellent, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The food in the main dining and buffet areas was nicely presented, tasty, and varied. We did not do any specialty dining. We especially enjoyed the leisurely breakfasts on the rear open-air deck. The embarkation and debarkation processes in all ports were timely and efficient. Everything was well organized and on time. The ports of call were excellent and varied. The September-October weather and temperature were perfect and the on-shore tourist volume was reasonable (except in Oia and Fira Santorini in the early evening). Read Less

We always wanted to cruise the Med so this was our retirement treat. Prior to the cruise we had a great CC rollcall and so we met the night before sailing and forged some good friendships for on board. Embarkation at Barcelona was a breeze. Our room was ready even though it was early. Ate lunch at the dining room - very relaxed start to our cruise. The crew were all amazing - room steward , bar staff and deck attendants. Our cabin was comfortable and clean - great position on Aliso Deck in an inside cabin. Highly recommended. The shows and entertainment were very good - though a couple of nights there was not a lot on. The meals in dining room (we had anytime dining) were always good and we never had to wait for a table- we ate around 6:15. We had two water shuttle stops and they were handled very well and we were off quickly. We took no tours with the ship- we preorganised local operators and shared tours on our roll call. There is nothing we would change about our trip - thanks Emerald Princess for a dream holiday. Read Less

Our children gave us the surprise for our 45th wedding anniversary to celebrate in the Emerald Princess Cruise. Name itself speaks that the Cruise will treat like a princess. People are extremely helpful service is excellent and lots of fun. We felt that it is a heaven on earth. Photo gallery studio people and the passengers information were extremely helpful. The room service and cabin crew members deliver the service right away. The formal dinner chef arranged food to our liking. I strongly recommend to everyone and specifically are those who wants to have life time memories of their special events like renewal of vows, weddings, etc. The Emeralds Princess Cruise treats you very special that you remember rest of your life. One must go on this Cruise once in their life time at least. People are very friendly. I met wonderful people who were totally not known before but talking to them they were kind to attend my 45th wedding anniversary renewal of vows. I will highly recommend to everyone to sail in Emerald Princess Cruise. We got our interview to build the Legacy for our children. Thank you for taking time and reading. Read Less

Having loved our Viking River Cruise in 2017, we decided to try the Viking Ocean Cruise. So glad we did. Everything about the ship and the crew was exceptional. The atmosphere, the food, wine, shore excursions, on board activities, it was all marvelous. With only 930 passengers, one never felt crowded and we never had to wait for a table or any type of service. The crew was super professional, courteous and friendly. They helped to create an atmosphere wherein it was easy to make friends with fellow passengers. The cabin design was streamlined and gave a sense of space. Having all cabins with balconies is a huge bonus. Having room service breakfast on our balcony a couple of time was a lovely luxury. The staff in all the restaurants, bars and spa were fabulous. We attended several shows, all of which were fun and entertaining. We have already booked our next Viking Ocean cruise and can't wait for it. Thank you Viking! Read Less

Recommendation from friends. The ship was clean and efficient. The staff were truly great - responsive and polite. The food was excellent at Manfreds but could only get a reservation one night - very disappointing. Some meals at The Restaurant were good and others not so - for example, Sword Fish over cooked. The public places on board were very comfortable. The optional excursions were great. The optional Silver Beverage Package was well worth it. The cabin Stewart, Josephine, was so good. So was Jean Paul at The Restaurant. We used the Explorers’ Lounge a lot and found it so comfortable and the service excellent. We particularly enjoyed the guitarist. When we book another cruise we will use Viking again - smaller ship, no children, no casino, etc. we are considering a river cruise, particularly the Danube. Thanks to the crew of the Viking Star for such a pleasant experience. Read Less

We picked this Oceania cruise because of its itinerary, in particular Al Hambra, Canary Islands and Tangiers (among others). We were lucky to score stateroom 6004 (port side very near the sharp end), which whilst having no balcony, had instead added interior space, making for a larger cabin. We appreciated the extra space as we were travelling for 2 months and had lots of luggage. Sirena has recently been totally refurbished and while the walls of cabins and bathrooms are not easily moved, the somewhat tiny bathroom had been fitted with glass doors (previously curtains we are told) and swung both out and inwards into the shower to give that extra room for towelling down. Clever! The ship's layout is remarkably like the much bigger Marina, but has about half the guest capacity at 680; despite the smaller ship, public areas and dining were remarkably roomy. Specialty dining is well catered for by Tuscan Grill and Red Ginger and we feel the Grand dining room is equally up to the gastronomic task. Service everywhere was excellent and friendly. We were allocated two specialty restaurants in our fare, but we found it was easy to ask to be waitlisted and did score at least four specialty dinners (we always ask to share, which is a great way to meet people). A big plus is the access to self-service laundry facilities (remember, 2 months holiday requires regular access!) and even better, there is now no charge! Great! Great entertainment on the trip; Flamenco dancing, Chris Ritchie impersonating various "Crooners" and a cabaret evening by the ship's crew with our cruise director in the front row doing the Village People routine. Very enjoyable! The itinerary of ports and excursions was a great choice -we picked the Cathedrals and Canaries" cruise just for the destinations we would be visiting-. We did not use any ship shore excursions as we had prior bookings with friends in three destinations and did our own thing in the remainder. All in all a great cruise! Read Less

The cruise hit several locations we wanted to visit. We were glad we started in Greece then Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and went to Italy. We did extend our trip 2 days in Venice which was a must. The locations seemed to improve as we headed north. The food was outstanding and the daily wine choices were great. We should have taken more advantage of the onboard entertainment. The crew were outstanding. They were very attentive and funny. We appreciate their efforts and service. The excursions were great we did upgrade a few. The history and culture were amazing. Great cultural enrichment and wine! We overpacked. Having the onboard washers and dryers were great to recycle and bring less. We recommend being self aware as a traveler. We were disappointed by the rudeness of some of the other travelers. When something did not go perfect the ship crew always worked hard and quickly to correct it. Be patient. Read Less

We chose the Ancient Empires & Mediterranean Rivieras cruise as it ticked several Bucket List destinations. It was a more expensive cruise fare than usual, even accounting for the length (2 cruises back-to-back), but that was only the start of the costs. Almost everything is an extra cost. We expect to pay a reasonable amount for a cruise but surely service should be included in the ticket price - to find $14.50 added per day per person for gratuities is ludicrous, and 15% for a bottle to be brought to your table and opened is even worse! Be aware that the cheapest bottle of wine is $35 + $7 if you want it opened, not surprisingly many people opted out of alcohol all together. In the speciality restaurants you aren't even offered this and the wines seem to start at $65 unless you specifically ask for the usual wine menu. Sadly we see that many cruise lines are charging service like this these days. Fortunately someone told us we could ask for the gratuities to be removed from our bill, so we did, and tipped as we thought appropriate. Excursions were incredibly expensive compared to other excursion companies so we gave them a miss and prebooked elsewhere. Elsewhere, a friend needed acupuncture for a bad back and was charged $169 for a 40 minute session. Even Americans who had sailed with H&A several times before commented that nothing changed except the prices that just kept going up. The highlight of the ship for us was Rudi's Sel de Mer restaurant - the food was excellent and the service impeccable, we returned 3 times - portion sizes are generous to say the least and you do get freebies at the start of the meal, so beware you don't eat too much to start with or you won't finish your main course. The Lido deck offered a good range of different/interesting lunchtime options and was much better than the so-so food in the main dining room. Room service breakfast surprisingly was not at an extra cost but after 8,30am not reliable in terms of either delivery time or content. Our balcony cabin 6076 was small compared to others we have had in smaller ships on cheaper cruises, much to our surprise as Americans usually seem to expect larger rooms. It had what we needed but storage was tight. We were pleased to find a welcome (half) bottle of wine and a 2 litre bottle of water apparently waiting for us on boarding - we were not surprised based on previous experience of other lines. Sadly we found that both were charged for as part of the fridge supplies - at $5.50 for the water, we were not impressed. Entertainment almost completely lacking, the huge theatre was seldom used except for "book an excursion" presentations on the places we were to visit - what a waste. As it was an archaeological cruise, I expected some archaeological talks to explain the history and background of the region but there was nothing at all. No "enrichment" activities, in fact if you are not into the gym, quizzes or games, there was very little to keep you occupied during sea days. The nightly soul and rock'n'roll music could have been enjoyable but the volume was so loud that you felt you were being screamed at. Be aware that cabins on floors 3,4 and 5 above the Billboard Onboard lounge can hear the noise until very late. All in all not an experience we want to repeat and we won't be sailing with Holland & America again. Read Less

We have received brochures from Viking for many years, for river cruises, most of which went to places we had already visited by land. When this cruise down the Adriatic came through, we chose it to celebrate our Golden Wedding, as a special treat. It could not have been more wonderful. The whole ship was beautifully laid out, with attractive, subtle decoration (not all gold and glitz), it was extremely efficiently run with every procedure going smoothly, and the staff were all fantastic - friendly, helpful and cheerful, even when they had been working all day, and some during the night too while we sailed. All the visits in port were beautifully organised and the guides were good. The crowds in some towns were unfortunate but on board, we did not feel at all crowded, despite there being 1400 people on board. This holiday was way beyond our expectations and we are recommending Viking to all our friends. Another trip may well be in the diary at some stage. Read Less

The Viking Star and crew did not disappoint. It is often said you get what you pay for and Viking stood tall. The crew hospitality was heart warming to say the least, always personalized and always delivered in a jubilant way that is refreshingly uplifting to the spirt after a long day ashore or leaving your cabin for an anticipated dinner experience. The physical appearance of The Star is impressive in it’s absolutely clean environment throughout the ship. This was our second Viking Cruise on The Star, the last being 15 nights out of Barcelona to Bergen in 2018. It was uplifting to see again so many crew members who’s interactions with each other, regardless of status, continue to be seamlessly positive. Five stars to the entertainment on-board. It would be unjust to single anyone out, least I forget to mention someone, from singers to band members all were exceptionally talented. My only (false) negative is that my failure at self discipline led to a few pounds joining us is a testament to the exceptional variety and quality of food and beverage. We look forward to next summer where a Viking River Cruise awaits our discovery and new adventures. Tom & Regina Read Less

I loved everything about the cruise and the ship. The food, accommodations were great. State rooms were a little small but we had a balcony. My disappointed with the cruise line, was there was no Greek food. I feel since it was a cruise thru Greece, they should have had a least one night with Greek food and deserts. I enjoyed myself and liked everything about the cruise. The service was great, the stewards, waiters and waitress, the bartenders . Was surprised that there were no more stores. Liked the sales for the bags and chains. I No enough chairs or lounges at the pool. People left towels and didn't sit there all day. Feel they shoukld take the towels away after 2 hours of a no show, COULD NEVER SIT AT THE POOL. That upset me. But all in all I loved Norwegian Cruise line and will definethly go with them again. If you’re looking for a bit of luxury, some good quality service, friendly staff, great entertainment and decent value for money, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. The entertainment is a bunch of people singing, changing outfits and dancing, EVERY NIGHT. The Market Place cafe is chaos 20 hours per day. Absolute mayhem. The staff and cruisers have very little to non existent manors. Pushing, ignorance, shouting and being generally rude is commonplace. MSC over charge on everything. 8euros for a beer.... PLUS 15% service charge on top. Buses at ports are all 4x the price they are when you actually leave the ship. One thing we didn’t think of was the fact people leave and start their holidays at almost every port. Imagine all of those safety drills, suitcases and so on all over the place, every day! If you’re in you’re room you have a ten minute lecture in every language about the safety procedure, almost every day. The food.... is ok. That’s it. Lack of imagination and small portion sizes but in the lighthouse during the evening it’s pretty good. They will try and get you to pay for speciality restaurants and drinks packages at every opportunity. The room we had, 12261 with a balcony was great however. Very large and much better than other ships we had been on. Our cabin steward was nice. Room always tidy. The boat is pretty nice. The layout isn’t great though and means you’re up and down stairs a lot, the lifts are always full. It’s designed and fit out a bit cheesy rather than luxury but I guess people like that. The best area of the ship by far is the Masters of The Sea. The staff are funny, friendly and personal. They remember your name, your drink and are super efficient. The live music is good and the pub has the best vibe of anywhere on the ship. One thing we should say is we are British. We’ve sailed from Southampton a number of times with different companies but this cruise fell far short and we certainly wouldn’t be booking with MSC again. Today is the last day of our cruise, looking forward to getting home. MSC if you’re reading | Areas to improve Adult only areas - quiet areas (no party music blasting) Some manors. Some organisation to the Marketplace. Restocking of minibar as standard. Entertainment - A new manager. The entertainment is simply awful. The same thing every night and every day. Very poor and a very basic standard. Try a different cruise liner and see what they do. Food leftovers left down the hallways on the floor. Pretty disgusting and often left for hours. The safety procedure. He has been talking for ten minutes In every language whilst we are trying to relax in our room. We’ve heard it 5 times. Make him stop, please. Read Less

Just returned from a week on the Celestyal Line’s Crystal “Idyllic Aegean” cruise to the Greek Isles out of Athens. Here’s the bottom line on the entire cruise experience - with apologies to those negative reviewers from another orbit who’ve expressed reservations. Firstly, the really spectacular: - The multilingual cruise director, Danny, an energetic John Oliver clone, was an absolute delight and livened up the entire week; - Formal dinners are served and presented with gastronomic flourish, and most offer a truly memorable food experience - with a distinct European flair and great service. If your vision of good cuisine is everyday American comfort food, then maybe consider a different vacation option. The executive sous chef also offers a poolside specialty breakfast (omelet station) and lunch each day (pasta; gyros; fajitas; BBQ); - The nightly shows in the main theatre, performed by a resident troupe, were simply amazing with fabulous choreography, music, stage production, sound/lighting, and at times audience participation; we didn’t miss a single night; - It’s a visit to another world: the 910 passengers onboard represented 34 countries, the 403 crew members 31 countries, all of which provided a chance each day to talk to someone from a different culture (all announcements were in five languages) - an invaluable life event; - Generally, each interaction with a staff person was courteous and efficient. The mundane: - Yes, it’s an older ship that has been tenderly maintained. While it’s not the Ritz Carlton, accommodations are comfortable, clean, and well-serviced (thank you Jose and Ramesh). Does it look a little tired in spots? Sure, it’s a Euro-centric vacation vehicle and, thankfully, not a Disney wannabe. Consider what you really want when cruising the Greek Isles; - Rooms are clean and fresh, with comfortable bedding. We splurged on a balcony junior suite (only about 10% of all cabins have balconies) and it was well worth the extra cost; - Despite other comments here, the check-in, boarding, and disembarkation process was well-managed and flawless; ignore those comments from behind the curtain: - Crews are constantly sprucing up the ship to a sparkling white outside, and the interior reminds one of a favorite living room chair: comfortable and familiar, but not flashy or exotic; - Unlike American cruises, there is no automatic add-on gratuity cost for the week (which the crew probably never receives). We handed out cash directly to an appreciative staff. The negatives: - no assigned seating at dinner, but there are three available restaurants plus two buffets; (we covertly tipped one maitre’d the first night and were treated exceptionally the other six); - the gym and casino are tiny by today’s standards, but we didn’t care in the least (we took a week off exercise); - bottled water was not part of the beverage package; - no free Wi-Fi. but we were able to use cellular at each destination from the ship; - some of the free shore excursions were just mediocre and overcrowded. Consider upgrading to the other paid options at each port. Overall, a wonderful, adult experience. For couples or groups, not kids or teens, and a chance to interact with people from around the world. Read Less

Bucket list cruise for both me and my spouse and wanted to see if we would like to go back to the Greek islands for a further visit. And we will. Very surprised on how it was easy to embark in Civitavecchia and loved our stay for 2 days before. Highly recommend it! First time booking a back to back cruise and i would not mind doing that again. I found the food was a little repetitive for my personal preference and not hot enough either in the dining room (anytime dining) and the buffet (world market). Breakfast was a little repetitive and Princess no longer offers toaster/grill to make your own toast, bagels so your toast, bagels, english are cold. Same for their eggs sunny side but under a heat lamps, so stiff and not good. They did offer build your own omelettes which was very good. We went to Kotor Montenegro twice and would do that again. We missed Mykonos because of high winds but that could not be helped. The staff were nice and mostly very helpful. I will cruise again with Princess. Read Less

There were very few kids on this cruise so pools were good but I would guess they could get crowded with little ones at other times. I didn’t see a kids pool. The shows were nothing to crow about. The 24 day Mediterranean cruise to the Adriatic, Malta, Sicily, Italian and then Greek locations in September. This was our 3rd HAL trip and ship. Weather was generally hot. The ship is only 3 years old and shows that they have taken into consideration factors from other older ships in the fleet. Firstly it is very quiet and manoeuvrable meaning it can and does go where some others do not (eg Santorini). The captain is calming and likes being early at just about ever port (and leaves when he can). The Cruise Director is cheery and direct with no long winded speeches. We liked the cabin - details below. Dining is good - MDR (we had anytime dining) offers varied selections but like all lines when doing back to back cruises the menu is repeated; food quality was good, service very good; the venue (level 2) can get noisy when busy and when certain guests always talk loudly, special dietary service was excellent. Lido has good variation with the policy of 90% being served by staff adds to health safety; the special diet section was appreciated and popular with the only negative comment being the shortage of staff; breakfast was generally pretty quick service. Canaletto has a new menu that was disappointing but service was good. Tamarind has excellent Asian food variations and high quality, quiet atmosphere, excellent service with special mention for the Indonesian theme night, 3 visits in total. Pinnacle Grill was mid range for the 3 special restaurants we attended. Burgers by the pool are OK although the fries are just yuk. Wine selection is reasonable with good geographic coverage but as always prices can be steep. Gala nights are becoming more casual with very limited numbers wearing formal gear. Pool size is a bit small but the level above with lounges overlooking offer a luxurious feel. Massage was good even if a touch expensive and there some some after sell of products but not too bad. Entertainment is geared towards seniors who prefer the occasional activity/performance. This is not a ship for those wanting broadway shows every night! It just does not happen. Instead a few musicians, magicians and cultural shows (entertainers from local areas were the best). Embarkation and disembarkation were the quickest yet on any ship we have sailed! Congrats to the crew who organised entertainment and activities on the day when a port could not be moored because of wharf issues and the change so that an early arrival at the next port allowed an overnight stay. Sum - a large ship with 2600 which has been modernised with many popular features. It is not a 5 star ship eg Silversea but offers excellent value at HAL prices. A ship we would definitely sail on again. Read Less

The adage, you get what you pay for, certainly applies. A wonderful trip visiting a city of Europe almost every day. While it was difficult (though with some outside excursions) to see a city in one day, you get a feel for it and can return if you are so inclined. We were busy almost every single moment. The walking/bus tours were pretty nice especially because of the added devices that let you hear the leaders story, comments, and descriptions of the city. I learned a lot and saw the most famous of the iconic landmarks . Food was wonderful with a themed food every day corresponding with the city visiting. If you wanted a steak, just ask for it. Tasty and so much better than the usual cruise food. Entertainment was a bit of a let down. The same people did different genre of songs each evening, but we were so tired out that it was just fine. The best feature was the wonderful support staff. You developed a rapport with those you see each day and while they may be friendly just to get your tip, I don't think so. They genuinely seemed to care for your welfare. You treated them right, they returned it - double! Loved our Viking trip and truth be told, won't be going on any other ever again!!!! GREAT JOB! The 12 night Viking Mediterranean odyssey cruise was our 1st trip to Europe in celebration of our retirements this year. Viking was by far superior to the other 3 cruise lines we’ve previously traveled with. The ship and food were high quality and absolutely amazing. All the complimentary amenities- free excursion in each port, high tea, speciality dining and free wine and beer with meals, free laundry along with no sales pressure anywhere - spa, dining etc - and Viking staff anticipating and responding to our every need and desire - made this a true luxury experience. We would have appreciated the port talks occurring prior to the cut off times to book or change excursions. We’d also have enjoyed more guided tour time and less free time - which seemed to be primarily shopping time. Overall we loved the cruise - and made an onboard deposit for a Viking cruise in the future. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports that it was stopping at. We also liked the amenities and class of the cruise. We enjoyed the club class dining. Our servers Jelana, Ryan, Iris and Bazvan were the BEST! We always asked to sit at their station and enjoyed their company immensely. The saw to our every gastro need and gave excellent tips on what to order. They really added to our vacation enjoyment! We took 2 of the cruise excursions which were both extremely well run. The guides were very knowledgable. We tried to sign up for some tours in Marseille but they were canceled. I liked Paulos who gave tips on the ports during the sea days. We loved the Sanctuary. It was a quiet and relaxing way to spend the afternoon. The servers were all very friendly and accommodating, waiting on for every need. We really liked the evening shows in the Princess theater, especially the dance themes like the 70's disco. The activities during the day seemed geared more for older people. Too much pushing of the anti-wrinkle, burn fat seminars at the spa. Also we would have liked more lounge chairs available in the shade around the pool. We liked that there was not too much loud music around the pool. Liked the band that played periodically at the pool in the evening. The shuttles to town should not have a cost attached. When you pay $8000 for a cruise, you expect that it will bring you to the actual place that is listed on the itinerary, not have to pay $15 pounds to get you there. My neighbor was so excited to see our pictures, she wants to go on the same cruise next spring. She indecisive on this or a Italy bus tour. Are there any incentives you can give to help her decide? D J played latin music in Spanish or Italian all day, most annoying as most of the guests are from Western countries. Rock and Roll, country, ballads. more appropiate to the guests. Food was good. entertainment was largely good. Show dancers excellent. Large ship but easy to move around. Cost was reasonable for that cruise.Security staff are a bit over the top, I was sick of being physically searched every time I came back on the boat, felt like a criminal in the Watchhouse. Was disembarked at 7.15am even though our pick up was not till 9.30am.had to wait on the footpath for over 2 hours. I told them what our pick up time was, they only wanted us off the ship.Overall a good company to cruise with, I will travel with them again in spite of some issues. Read Less

This cruise was to celebrate a special anniversary, our 50th and we wanted a very special cruise to a place we had never been. The 7 Night Iconic Western Mediterranean cruise did not disappoint. We felt pampered in every way. The ship is beautiful. The food was delicious and all of the Star's employees were always eager to please the passengers in every way. The entertainment on board was wonderful. The bathroom in the stateroom exceeded my expectation. It put a smile on my face every time I want in it and the heated floor was such a treat. All of the toiletries were high quality. I didn't have to use any that I brought, which I always do just to make sure. An especially nice perk is that every deck has three washer and dryers for guests to use free of charge, including detergent and an iron and ironing board. I was able to come on board with clean cloths and leave with clean cloths. I would highly recommend a Viking cruise. You will not be disappointed. Read Less

Overall it was a great cruise. The internet was extremely slow. Although we watched little TV in our cabin, when we did operational is was slow to respond. The walking tours were great and most of the guides we good. The only on shore tour we would eliminate was Sete. It is a fishing village and does not offer much. The bus tour of Barcelona was good and gave us a heads of on where to go in the city. We stayed two extra days on our own. One of the best paid tours for the money was the Ca Lunae winery tour . It was excellent. The tea service was great. Maybe too much food. The pool area was crowed at times but manageable The wine served was very good and plentiful. Best meal was served at Manfredi's. Read Less

I have recently made a Mediterranean cruise with koningsdam from 21 August 11 days. My tourism agency had recommended koningsdam. They said ”new ship, it is very clean and the food is very good” I believed of course. But unfortunately as soon as I got on board I realized that this was not what I expected. Because I traveled with many different companies I can compare very easily. I have been cruising last 10 years with several different companies and ships. This time is my first time with Holland America. I wish to share my experience for the sake of other customers and as well as your benefit. (Actually I am very busy person who works 10 hours a day but I hope it will be appreciated that I spend my resting time to write this.) I have a very serious complaint about the reception manager (or chef) his name was M...... He made me angry so much. He treated me very unpleasantly. We are Turkish but since we are high level civil servant (We are professor doctor working in university) we were given a “special passport” which we don’t need any visa in EU countries. In every cruise, in check in desk they understand it and they don’t keep our passports. They know special passports or they can easily understand when they look at the pages there are plenty of stamps of many countries but there was not any visa. In Rome port they did the same. They checked the passports and gave them to us. The first day was sea day we would be in Cartagena following morning, But at night I found a note someone calling me to the reception. I went there a girl in the reception wanted me to give our passports to them. It was so strange. She said “my manager wants them”. I refused of course. The explanation was not adequate. She called the manager He said “Turkey is not EU country that is why I want to keep your passport”. It should not be a personal preference. I tried to explain why we did not need any visa. But he was person who cannot understand the situation. His attitude and words were very very annoying and irritating. He insist to take it. (Be honest even if we are not obliged to give it. Since I am a mature and respectful and respective person, If he had asked nicely and kindly I would give it right a way). I said no. Finally he wanted to scan them, I said “I have a copy I can give it”. In that case he dared to insist to get them before 7 am in the morning!!!!(Look at his personal caprice) I was even angrier he had to understand that I was a guest and on my vacation no one has a right to force me to do something. I said “I don’t want to get up very early in the morning”. Following day I ask an appointment for “hotel manager” to discuss this issue and the other issues related with crew behaviour. No one responded. I asked total 3 times for an appointment in different days. He didn’t even send a message to me. I know he must be very busy (actually I am one of his businesses) but even dough he should have had arrange someone else to meet me. He totally ignored me (as many of them). He didn’t give any value and credit to me as a human being who actually prefer and trust them to spend her holiday on his ship. There are plenty of issues to be mentioned: But I will briefly tell. First of all the behavior of the crew (most of them) was the most unacceptable. It seems almost all of them don’t like their job. Or even they hate with what they are doing. No smiling at all. They don’t make eye contact with you they don’t even say hello or any other greetings. From the barmen to the waiters, from the officers to simple mariners every one was tossing out you. I was shocked . (none of the ship had not had such a crew like that). First day as soon as we settled, we wanted to have a drink. We approached to the bar (opposite to “guest relation”) no one cared. I asked for a menu. He didn’t even move and looked at me very unwillingly and showed the wall (there were some writings on the wall). We didn’t drink anything. We went up to the restaurant (self-service) in deck 9. For lunch There were some stations with different type of food and there was one person in it as if they were in prison (They were looking at you as if somebody forced them to stand unwillingly). It was so strange that the self-service restaurant was not self-service. All stations were covered (protected from the customers) by glass. At dinner in the 2. floor is another story. It takes ages to wait for a dish. I had to speak to restaurant chef to attract the attention to be served. The most important thing is security. In the gang way going out and coming back, IN all other ship companies they ask to take off sun glasses and hats. It is very important to recognize the people. But in Koningsdam most of customers were wearing glasses and hats !! No one asked them to take off. Crew were only concentrated if there was an alcohol in the bags. All other companies they serve water and wet cold towels in the gangways in every port they make a tent. But in koninsdam we had nothing. Even water. No one greeted and no one welcomed us. Only last day in Livorno a couple of officers were standing in front of gangway and told “welcome”. And no entertainment at all.. There are many more to tell but these are facts. I have no intention being rude I didn’t mean to offend anybody. Because I respect everybody who does their job properly, I spent my time to give this feedback. I am sorry to tell these perhaps they reevaluate the issues to please their customers and consider them as "guest" Read Less
