Diamond Princess - Alaska

My wife and I will never sail with Princess again! Our trip started with the nightmare called embarkation. We arrived at noon, the time we were told embarkation would begin. We had filled out all of the forms prior to sailing and were told that gave us "Express Check-in". Little did we know that most of the two thousand passengers also had express check in. The line to board the ship was around ...

I'm a frequent cruiser, but this was my first Princess cruise. I mostly cruise on Holland America, but I've tried most of the major lines. This was a 7-night Alaska Inside Passage cruise with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria. SUMMARY: I will not cruise with Princess again. While the ship itself is great, I found the dining situation to be really bad and the food was sub-par. ...

This was our first cruise with the Princess Line. Our inside cabin was one of several larger than normal size that were available. We had more room inside our cabin than our friends across the hall who had a balcony. We had extra closets and a bit more room to walk in. We were very pleased with the space. We sailed with a group of 10. We had selected Personal Choice Dining. I placed a call ...

We left from Las Vegas on Friday night rather than risk a late flight the day of the cruise. We stayed at the Hampton Inn at the airport and they were very helpful. When we enquired about a cab to the pier they suggested a town car service that worked out to be about the same price as a cab (around 35.00) The car was prompt and we were at the pier by 10:15 Saturday morning. They were already ...

Embarkation: Was Great! Very easy to follow the directions of the employees. All was well marked, and everyone was helpful. The lines looked a bit long, but they moved very quickly. They really have this aspect of the trip down pat! Public Rooms: I was stunned how beautiful the ship was. Even the stairwells were inviting. The ship was very well cared for. It looked as if an impressive regimen ...

As first time cruisers (but worldwide travelers) our overall experience was very positive, however, we are simply not "cruise people". This was a graduation trip for our kids, and as such a great success. The kids had a ball. The Diamond Princess is every bit as beautiful and immaculate as other reviewers have said. And it does accomplish the big ship with small ship feel. The food was ...

This was my 7th cruise and the first time this guy didn't have to fly off (or when I sailed to Alaska last time drive to Vancouver) to some distant port. No, not this time. Pier 30 in Seattle is a mere 20 minute drive from my home so it was a treat for me to park my vehicle and carry my luggage but a few yards to begin the embarkation process. Soon I was aboard the Diamond Princess. Well, actually ...

I sailed from Seattle to Alaska on the Diamond Princess on June 25, 2005. It was an enjoyable cruise in every way and the Diamond Princess is one beautiful ship. I was part of group of 50 that formed the Northwest Dance Group from the Seattle area plus a half dozen Californians. Our happy go lucky gang danced our way all the way to Alaska and back. We brought dance instructors along so when we ...

I've read great LONG reviews, but I'll keep it short. Embarkation: Arrived at 11:00 a.m. and was on board in our room by 11:45 a.m. Room Service: EXTREMELY timely..if not 5 minutes early! Room Steward: Antonio and he couldn't have done a nicer job. Food: Outrageously good!! But didn't prefer the buffets. Going to the different dining rooms was the best experience for lunch and dinner. ...

For the first time since we began cruising, we're taking cruises in two consecutive years. We have always wanted to cruise to Alaska and did so in May of 2004. We were on the cruise following the ill fated one where the Diamond Princess hit the pier in Victoria the night before we were supposed to board. Due to all sorts of problems [we didn't get to board the ship till 6:30 p.m., the ship didn't ...
