Some good, some not so good

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Oosterdam

The food was always excellent in the MDR. Service was good. I had no bad food and neither did my husband. Portion sizes were perfect. Embarking and disembarking was always quick and smooth. When we came in from the rain in Juneau they even greeted guests with hot cocoa. I found the ship lacking in entertainment during the day. I don't need to learn how to use windows or digital photography ...

Best Food on a Cruise!

The food was amazing! We were thrilled with the quality of the dining room food. They served LARGE scallops. Each night was excellent: Snapper, Halibut, Steak, LARGE Shrimp, Lobster, more Steak, Rack of Lamb, 8 hour slow roasted Lamb Shank, and much more. The service was impeccable. Our servers were Ari & Aji. They are a great team. I was so sad on our last night. They spoiled us! The ...

Relaxing with needed improvements

This was the first time I was continually disoriented on the ship. The staff, cabin stewards and food servers were fabulous. The downside is the waiting in line for food and beverages. It wasn't until the 4th day that we had bread served in a basket at dinner along with butter, and we were able to get our own beverages in the buffet. Throughout the voyage the buffet was served cafeteria style ...

The Oosterdam was a beautiful ship. I do recommend upgrading to a varanda suite when cruising to Alaska. My husband and I spent alot of time out on our deck watching the mountains roll by and looking for wildlife. We also used that setting to complete a few crossword puzzles together and enjoy coffee and cocktails. Great alone time! We were in suite 8072 which is mid-ship which is a location I ...

We went took the 7 day Alaskan cruise out of Seattle. This was our 2nd time to Alaska on the Oosterdam. We had Signature Suite 8065 and our 2 friends had a Verandah just down the hall. This review will be just some random thoughts. First, if you are thinking about Alaska a balcony is a must. IMO. Worth the extra $$. General Pros: if you want a relaxing cruise this is it! No hairy chest or ...

First Time Cruisers

My spouse and I chose this cruise because of the promotion by Christian radio group WAYFm. For King and Country, Brandon Heath, Mark Lee of Third Day and Rebecca St. James were the featured artists, and they were superb. We arrived in Seattle a day ahead in part because we had never been and we wanted to allow for airline difficulties and bad weather. Neither were a factor, so we went to Pike ...

Good Average Cruise

Average cruise, smaller rooms than most cruises, good service, okay food, great entertainment, big outdoor pool (deep), smaller indoor pool (shallow), kind staff. Our TV circuit kept popping, so we did not have TV for the first 2 days, our sink would not turn off (plumber had to come and fix it), shower/tub would not drain. I traveled with my husband, my daughter (14), and my mother-in-law. Food ...

The Good: AMAZING FOOD Pinnacle Grill The Band Art Gallery Personnel Had the Norovirus hit on the Ship and their Containment Procedures and protective processes was Great. THE BAD: > No Proactive Wait Staff > No wait staff to keep your beverages full. I had to get up 2/3rds of my time to get refills or get served which meant I had to get in line and wait at the Bar. > ...

Great scenery and service, but I was always standing in line

I will start with the bad, and end on the positive. BAD: Food quality was not good. I would say it was adequate to slightly sub-par. This was my first Alaska cruise, and the last time I did another cruise was in 1994, so I may have had unrealistic expectations. But on that cruise, I was sincerely impressed by the quality of the food, and the diversity of options available. With that ...

overcharging, hair in food, cabin under a storage room = no sleep

Previously had a terrific cruise on Ms Oosterdam from Australia to New Zealand and found the service, the food and the cabin wonderful. Two years later that has changed. Initially it was the cabin, on Deck 1 with a window to the outside.. Unfortunately it seems it was positioned under a restaurant storage room and every night, just as you want to go to sleep, heavy objects were dumped onto the ...
