Disappointment

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

I gave it a poor review because originally we were to go to Juneau and instead went to Icy Strait. Then the last stop was to be Victoria 6pm to 12 pm. There was a medical emergency on the boat and our stay in Victoria was from 10:45 to 12:15. By the time you get off and then back on you have no time. Also it was so late everything was closed. The entertainment was very poor on the trip also. ...

We went on this cruise to take our family to Alaska. My sister had sailed with NCL prior to and said it was good. This was our second cruise this year, having cruised on a different cruise line, Royal Caribbean, which was a great experience. Our embarkation went smoothly enough, considering the amount of people getting on. The overall condition of the ship was ok. A few of the doors leading ...

Not worth the money

First Time Cruiser • Age 30s

We had a really bad experience on this cruise. 2 of the 3 shore excursions we had booked we're cancelled. We only got half our money back for one of those excursions. One of our shuttle drivers forgot to pick us up and we had to hitch a ride with another shuttle. The guest services agent was actually rude to me when I was trying to explain to her what happened with the first excursion. Our third ...

Disappointing Dining and Entertainment

Our recent cruise was a dissapointment in several respects. We had the 7 night dining package and the food and service was below par. The waitstaff was inattentive and it took forever to get served. The quality of the food was very mediocre and not up to the standards of a decent restaurant. The food and choices at the buffet were as good if not better. The onboard entertainment was also ...

Deceptive advertising by NCL overshadowed the trip

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

The deceptive advertising practice of offering free promotions that subsequently don't apply forced an upgrade of about a $1000 to get a service level I thought I had in the first place. This effectively felt like a bait & switch, and it overshadowed the experience itself. Writing to NCL about this only prompted a robotic repeat of their policy. If the purpose of customer service in a competitive ...

Not as enjoyable as before

To see Alaska and enjoy the freestyle cruise experience.we were on board with very rude and self abosorbed etnic group who had no consideration nor the desire to co exsist with other people. This was on board and ashore on our excursions. They ruined our shore excursions. We also found the specialty restaurant Cagneys not as good as before with a decline in quality and an ala carte menu. The ...

Not enough time in ports, nickle-and-diming the whole time, lackluster food

service from the crew was excellent, but here's what you don't get on Norwegian, which I think is a big mistake: 1) no locally sourced seafood, despite being in the seafood capital of the world. No king crab or dungeness crab, no local salmon or halibut. You can see it everywhere in port, but for some reason Norwegian refuses to stock it. You can't even get it in the specialty restaurants. To ...

This is NOT the cruise for you if you do not want to be bored. Traveled with a 17 yr old, two 30 year olds and two of us in our 50's. Every single one of us were bored. But lets start at the beginning. Booked 2 staterooms - Oceanview #5001,- decent dated nothing special. ADA Balcony #10644- Pole in middle of entrance makes it a little hard to use a scooter, Balcony had a Board ...

Alaska = Great, Pearl = Underwhelming

We chose this boat over the Bliss as we wanted to see Glacier Bay. Glacier Bay was amazing, but I'm not sure if it makes up for being trapped on the Pearl for the week. Key Takeaways: 1. Get the thermal suite pass unless you want to sit in the lobby and listen to the 50th talk on booking your next cruise. 2. You will be spending a lot of time on this ship. 2 full sea days (Glacier Bay is ...

I have been on many cruises, mostly NCL, and with NCL I was also very satisfied, until now. The food quality was average at best. Not even some of the specialty restaurants were of the past higher quality. Except for some of the lounge entertainment, the rest of the entertainment would not have made the cut on America Gots Talent. I.can see magic acts and acrobatics about anywhere ...
