We had never done a cruise to Alaska before and this one seemed to fit the bill for our needs. As we had been to Seattle before, we elected to arrive and sail in the same day. We had a party of 4 so we ubered fro the airport to the harbor but the NCL staff were all over the terminal to help those who took the NCL transfer. We arrived at the cruise ship terminal about 30 minutes later and walked about 10 steps to the baggage drop off. Very smooth and efficient. We were in the Haven for this cruise, so we then proceeded to the Haven checkin desk and within 10 minutes we were on the ship and in the Haven Bar for a drink. Our rooms were then ready so we went to the rooms and dropped our carryons. We then ate lunch in the Haven restaurant and explored the ship before sailing. The rooms were outstanding and our butler and stewards knew our names by 1700! We wondered the ship and then watched sail away from the Horizon lounge on 17 forward reserved for Haven guests only. We spent a lot of time here. They had coffee and snacks all day long and continental breakfast stuff early in the AM. My only comment here is the drink service was slow and spotty but we walked 50 meters/150 feet aft to the Haven bar for drinks if we couldn’t wait. Awesome ship, super clean and fresh, outstanding staff and awesome service. The dining in all areas was impeccable with the one caveat that bars are slow to make drinks, the restaurants are slow to fill water and get you alcoholic beverages. Slow but impeccable drink service. I would say the restaurants need more drink runners and busboys to keep the servers free to serve. We did not have a bad dish or meal. This crew has it down. The shows were really good and interesting with talented performers and decide to show topics/material. As Haven guests you are escorted to private reserved seating in a private elevator so no crowds. Same for excursions and leaving the ship. The shore excursions were really good, well priced for value and well run. We are definitely going again on another NCL cruise and have 2 future ones booked. Read Less

It has been on my bucket list for years to cruise, we decided my 60th was a good reason to go. What a great vacation. I felt so relaxed and could want for nothing my whole trip. When we started out it was just going to be me and my wife. I said the more the merrier so we reached out to our kids their friends, our friends. We ended up with 14 takers so it was so enjoyable to do this together. We upgraded to a balcony king suite and I think it was really worth it. WE had the Spa package also.....I think its a must !!!! We had the ultimate drink package....so worth it. The food was good at all the free eateries. The buffet is good, lottsa choices, nice staff. We also were allowed to eat at Manhattan and Taste both of which are step up white linen dining and both were fabulous. The casino was fun when its open too. We liked Juneau as our first stop we walked the town, many of our group did the glacier tour. The Red dog saloon is crowded but fun. Skagway is a really cute stop we toured town and just walked around and shopped and ate a little. Had such a nice day there. Wind caused us to bypass Ketchikan but we all made new plans on the boat. Darn I had to spa twice that day !!! We saw 2 shows on the boat Six and Jersey boys. Both were fabulous and we highly recommend them to anyone. I can just say this was an amazing, relaxing most pampered trip I have ever gone on Their service crew is totally top notch, bartenders are flawless, room crews are really good and just so nice. The views are amazing all day long. Don't wait to book yours, I would spend a little more and everything will be included that you will need. I want to give a quick shout out to our entry to the buffet girl that I am sad to say I lost her name.....She had a great entry line......." Hello, Happy Happy, Washy Washy !!" as she sprayed some hand sanitize into your hands before entering the buffet. She had the whole boat saying it by the end of the trip and she made everyone smile !!! It is my new line forever before I do dinner now !! Awesome boat, great great staff. I will go again for sure. We were supposed to go to Alaska in April on the Norwegian Joy. They cancelled our trip and offered us the same rate on another cruise. On our re-booked trip on the Norwegian Bliss, they cancelled our third port at Ketchikan, saying it was poor weather. This meant that we were at sea for 72 hours straight including the day in Glacier Bay. It was my first cruise, so I had a lot to learn, but in talking to others who have cruised to Alaska on other cruise lines, I'm not sure Norwegian was a good choice. If we were to do it over, I would have spent more on the shore excursions, maybe less on the room. I would also look for a one-way itinerary to minimize time at sea. I used a prescription sea sick patch, but had a number of bad moments and by the last two days at Sea in the 72 hours stretch, they were taping "sea sickness" bags to the stairs for people to take. Our room and cabin steward were top notch. Plenty of room to put items in the bathroom. In the room, there was room in the closet, on shelves in the closet and in small cupboards near fridge. Our steward helped us tape down an extension cord and got me distilled water for my CPAP machine. He was on top of everything. Loved having the balcony. Entertainment/Things to Do: The big shows were great- Jersey Boys, the musical Six – so glad we booked in advance. The Beatles band and the Comedy show were seen in the big auditorium, We couldn’t get tickets until we were on board and the small “club” venues sold out super fast. The music in the Atrium and Observation Lounge were good, but the entertainer, Beau Tahana, in the District Brew house showed incredible musicality. Beau Tahana was listed as providing comedy and music in the District Brew house. He was so much more… he played music of Elton John, Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Orbison and many more. He would morph from one song or style to another seamlessly. He might be singing Elton John’s Bennie and the Jets, and segue into the Lion King Circle of Life song by Elton John, and come back to the original. Or a song might go from pop to sounding like Johnny Cash was now signing the same song. He incorporated funny comments like the “Washy-Washy” we heard from the staff to sanitize our hands as we entered the Garden Café Buffet. When asked where he was from, we got a slice of life on Deck 4 as he talked about living at the waterline. We liked the printed daily event info, it helped us figure out what/where events were. Rangers talk during Glacier Bay, and ranger station set up on Observation deck was great. The observation deck itself was wonderful. Ports: I was very disappointed that we did not go to one of our three ports - Ketchikan. I think if the ship was smaller we might have gone - the weather did not seem that bad. I thought Norwegian would add some fun activities to make up for it, very little was added. The times in port were too short, and poorly timed. You could pick one shore excursion and maybe have a little more time to walk around the town. No info provided about what to do in town, but we could go to a shore excursion talk and a separate shopping planning talk before each port. It seemed very commercial, geared to making money for NCL, not to benefit the NCL customers. Going to Victoria cost $15 each way to go into town, and we were arriving at 8pm and leaving at midnight. Heard they are required to stop at an international location before returning to US. General: Elevator wait was consistently long – 2 banks of elevators, about 14 levels used by 4000 passengers, many with mobility issues, so stairs were not a good option. Every "fun" activity was preceded by an annoying shore excursions sales pitch. Nothing was ever provided about what to do in a port unless it was going to result in money for Norwegian. We thought there would be talks on Alaska nature and history and port information, heard that Princess does this in Alaska. Other than the ranger's talk on Glacier Bay (which was great), there was nothing like that. We had "free" but horribly inconvenient airfare. Flight out of SFO at 7 am on a Sunday meant no opportunity to take public transportation there, adding a significant cost with either private airport transportation or a hotel the night before. Same on the return - booked us on a 9:50 am flight which meant we had to carry all bags off the ship at 7am. Food: Dinner at specialty French restaurant, Le Bistro, was fabulous! Crab "cake" to start, sauteed prawns for my main and the chocolate fondue dessert for two was incredible. The server in La Cucina (specialty restaurant) spilled olive oil on my one good blouse I planned to wear to our other specialty dinners. The manager offered to launder it, but I did not trust sending a delicate top to the ship's laundry. She comped us with a free bottle of wine. My steak at Cagney's (specialty restaurant), was ordered medium and was so under cooked it looked like sushi. I should have sent it back, but then all of the timing with my husband's meal would be off. Seating in the garden cafe (main buffet) was a joke, we circled and circled to find seats each time. We finally figured out there was a mini buffet in the morning at Jimmy Buffet's. We ate in several regular restaurants (The Local, Taste, the Manhattan Room). Overall, food was usually presented beautifully (especially desserts), but the taste wasn't that great. At the buffet, the Indian dishes were great, and I had a Chinese peppercorn stir fry that was wonderful. You could stand in line for a custom omelette. They served both self-serve soft serve ice cream and scooped ice cream with toppings. You could request cookies at the dessert areas. Could not get coffee at bars unless it had alcohol in it. Wish there had been more places to get coffee and soft drinks other than the garden cafe and observation lounge. We had the drinks package as part of our "free at sea" options and my husband loved trying different drinks. We also had a limited amount of free Wi-Fi in our package. I forgot to log out once and burned up all my minutes and they reinstated them for me after looking up my account.. It took a while to be able to track our overall spending and charges, but found we could see them on both TV in our cabin on the NCL app on our phone, which was also a way to look up entertainment. This cruise was a combination of Good/Excellent and Poor (with some neutral thrown in) - getting us to a "GOOD" rating. Have cruised with Norwegian exclusively for last 6 vacation – not sure about the next. Excellent/Very Good The staff - Save for a few miss-charges on the account and an inability to get us the water ordered, were great. Always well intended, very courteous, attentive and helpful. The bar and lounge staff were excellent – funny, engaging and most knowledgeable. The wait staff as well – especially efficient. Specialty Restaurants – Los Lobos, La Cucina and Le Bistro were wonderful. The food was prepared and presented very well. Service and pacing were spot-on. Le Bistro was one of the very few (3) establishments I have ever gotten a steak cooked correctly (Bleu). Other Restaurants – For its intent, the Garden Café was very good. Laid out well and the food stations were run efficiently (passengers aside!). A very good selection of food types and styles. The Local was a good addition and nice “stop in” place. Well situated. And good wings! The Ship – Nicely laid out with seemingly something different around each corner. Bright where it should be and softer when needed. Well decorated but not gaudy. A very good, fun ship to cruise on. The observation deck was wonderful. Entertainment – Other than SIX (talented performers – disjointed plot and execution) the shows we saw (see comment later) were phenomenal. Length and timing were very good. Very talented personnel. Logistics – Best embarkation process I’ve ever seen – bar none! Valet Check worked nicely (until Alaska Air lost a piece of luggage). Off/On Lines were long, but crew worked it well. Phone app worked well and was much easier than lugging paper around and standing in line for reservations (although it did cost $10 – really, they don’t make enough everywhere else!) Poor Specialty Restaurants Q was disappointing. Nice venue and concept but the food was mediocre at best. Brisket dry, chicken tough (and no indication of smoking), ribs tough (but tasty), sauces one-note and not authentic. Accompaniments not well flavored. Teppanyaki was mixed. Food was good (best shrimp of the trip) but organization was non-existent. Chef nearly left off part of three (3) meals until remined and was constantly trying out out-shout the other chef. Seemingly staffed sufficiently but not effectively. Request for some drinks went ignored? Dessert took 10 mins after meal to appear without anyone asking for drinks or other (while at least three (3) people stood around looking to clear dishes). Much worse than last experience on smaller ship. Ocean Blue was the worst of the bunch! Timing of the meal was way off – bought entrée before was done the salad (“wedge” with the lettuce cut the wrong way). Pasta in the seafood pasta was cut and over cooked, used old bay scallops and older shrimp. My fish was overdone and seared on the wrong side (skin wet and flaccid) and the flavors were just not exciting – very bland and “out of a bottle” tasting. Logistics – Two (2) stops of less than 5 hours (one at night) for a ship this size just did not make any sense (one of which we couldn’t execute due to weather). Gave a couple of hours in port at best with 4000+ passengers trying to get off/on. Would do better with one less port and more time. Entertainment – Limiting passengers to three (3) shows (without letting them know until trying to book the 4th) during the entire 7-day cruise was not good. One would expect access to nightly shows without having to queue up in “Stand-By” lines (and a port call at 2000-0000 does not substitute as a show!). Read Less

We have been planning this trip since January 2019. We live in Nashville so we flew to ORD to catch Amtrak from Chicago to Seattle with a two night stay in Glacier National Park. This part if the trip was fantastic. We arrived in Seattle and boarded the ship quickly, which is one of the best embarkations ever. Beautiful balcony room in 13th floor. Our room steward is pesky. Knocking on door when do not disturb was illuminated. But did not bring bottled water for two days after requested. We enjoyed the freestyle dining but most restaurants served the same food. So, choices were not what we had hoped for. Our first port was Juno, not much going on here. It’s like a manufactured cruise ship stop. Skagway was next and we loved this port. We had booked an independent tour and very much enjoyed this port of call. The town is very quaint and the people and shop owners are very nice. The weather wasn’t great but this was not the fault of NCL, but the beginning of weather issues for the remainder of the trip. Our third port was to be Ketchikan, AK. and we had a crab fishing tour scheduled that we had been looking forward to for months. We were awakened by an announcement at 7am that the stop was cancelled due to weather. Our money for the tour would be refunded. And they were trying to get an early arrival at our final port of call, which was originally scheduled for 2 pm until 11 pm when trip was booked but upon boarding the ship we noticed it was changed to 8 pm to 11 pm. So early arrival would be great especially after being coupled up for 3 days. No early arrival approved for Victoria, B.C. we arrived a bit after 8 pm in the pouring rain with not enough shuttle buses or taxis to get 4000 passengers off the pier and into town efficiently. We waited in line for about 20 minutes town decided it was pointless to pay $30 bucks r/t into a place we didn’t know in the dark and pouring rain. We were looking for a specific item that we had hoped to purchase in Ketchikan, but didn’t have any assurance that stores would be open once we got there and we would only have a little over an hour to look for it. Cruise Director did not know what if anything would still be open and we were directed to the tacky pier store. We were not looking for magnets or coffee cups and this store was mobbed with people. So, in a nutshell, we feel robbed of two ports ( half of the trip). We live on the other side of the country and it’s unlikely we will get back to Alaksa again. It’s not a cheap trip Read Less

The Alaskan cruise was always one of my ambitions. This cruise was coupled with a pre-cruise three night stay in Seattle, which we very much enjoyed. I cannot fault the organisation of embarkation and disembarkation - very good considering the number of people involved. The ship staff were always very friendly and helpful and the ship was always spotless. The main downside for me was its sheer size and the number of passengers, especially at mealtimes in the self-service cafe. It was often difficult to find a table and get through the crowds without spilling anything. The food I found OK, nothing to write home about in any of the restaurants we tried. Also, no-one dresses for dinner! It seems that so long as you are fully clothed and your jeans are not torn or faded, anything goes! I feel that this should be made more clear to people prior to booking. We couldn't call into Ketchikan because of high winds, which meant that we had three days at sea in wet and windy weather and couldn't comfortably go on deck. We attended a few trivia quizzes, fruit and veg carving and origami lessons but gave the bingo, art auctions and karaoke a miss. We had booked our shore excursions independently and everything went smoothly there. The evening entertainment was very good - Jersey Boys and Six, plus the Liverpool Beatles. I personally would not go on this ship again - too big for its own good. Read Less

I have been planning and reviewing this cruise for a year! I have read so many reviews and now that I have been on the ship I have to say that whomever doesnt enjoy themselves on a trip like this will never be happy !!!! We had the best time ever. The crew and service were AMAZING. The ship was AMAZING. The excursions were AMAZING. The ship was perfect to see Alaska. We just couldnt have had a better time. We have sailed NCL many times and we splurged and booked the HAVEN because it was my 50th birthday, all I can say is wow, double wow, wow wow...... It will hard to ever go back to "regular rooms" again. Our personal staff were remarkable. We didnt want for a single thing on this ship. We felt like royalty. Worth every penny!!! I did notice that there were a few minutes of traffic jams at the elevators right after the shows were over but that is to be expected. It is just like when going to a concert or sporting event. When you leave you have to be patient to get out of the parking lot.....I really didnt notice anyone having a real problem with it. As I said prior, it would be really hard to get upset about much when you are on a ship like this. The ship itself was beautiful. We saw both our private observation deck and the one for the rest of the ship and they were both aimed to please!!! And did!! Entertainment was very good. We only saw female entertainers other than the comedian which is a first on any ship we have been on. We just saw Jersey Boys at the Theatre in town so we did not see it on the ship. We saw SIX, and Prohibition, which was definitely worth the upcharge. LIke I said the comedian was top notch. We played the games, and really kept busy. We did not try the lazer tag or the go carts, mainly because it was just cold and there were a few "rocky" moments with the waters and my mom didnt want to be outside. Again, the staff were just the icing on the cake and we couldnt be happier. Read Less

Wanted to try this newer large ship. Ship itself was very nice. Appeared clean and in good condition. Unable to bring your own soda or bottled water on board They only serve fountain Pepsi products, which I am not a fan of. Still, difficult to get waiters or bartenders to get you soda products. Waited on alcohol consumers first. Would not buy that package again Muster drill was unorganized. Customers seated in assigned area and staff came and made every one “get out” and they were late setting up and wanted to scan cruise cards as people walked in . Same exact lunch menu every day in restaurants only ok. Buffet seating was a zoo-anytime around meal time. Food was edible but nothing special. Desserts were not worth waiting for. Pastries always stale. Balcony room acceptable, not particularly large, could not push suitcase pass end of end and wall “Jersey Boys” show high quality entertainment. Comedians you can skip Unable to make scheduled stop in Ketchikan due to size of ship. Waters rough due to wind. Two other ships (Princess and Holland America) were able to dock) so that was a bummer Scheduled stop in Victoria was changed after we booked- originally scheduled for 6 but was changed to 8pm . Not much to see in the dark. Highlight definitely the Day in Glacier Bay-great weather and beautiful views! Despite notices in the daily ship newsletter, people were allowed to sleep in public areas - shoes off, feet all over the furniture, full sleep masks covering their eyes , so the observation area was difficult to use Overall would choose a different cruise line and itinerary if doing it again Read Less

We treated ourselves to the Haven and the level of service there was better than we could have imagined. Every crew member knew our names after the first day and called us by name the whole trip. The restaurant was the best one on the ship. Anything we needed was taken care of by the concierge or butler. The stateroom was beautiful and we received daily amenities. The Horizon lounge as so relaxing. We never wanted to leave the Haven! We enjoyed the Thermal Spa almost every day-it is worth the cost. This being our first cruise came with much anxieties and fear. However, from the time you step on board and 7 days later when you disembark, we were treated royally and it was all smooth sailing!! You don’t even realize you are on a ship unless you look out at the ocean. Our room was spacious and loved sitting out on the balcony. Never a dull moment with so much shipboard activities for young and old. Enjoyed the casual dining and excellent food choices. Superb staffing from our kind and helpful cabin Stewart to the smiley friendly “washy washy” dining greeters, and courteous waiters. Every staff member made us feel special and, thus, made this a memorable voyage. The unforgettable and spectacular glaciers and the knowledgeable park rangers who came on board broadened our perspective of the environment around us. This being our first cruise will definitely not be our last! Thank you, NCL, for a blessed time! Read Less

We traveled with friends who had chosen this cruise before we decided to go. Embarkation was the easiest and fastest of any cruise we have been on. This was our 6th, 2nd on Norwegian, 1st to time to Alaska. The only entertainment we saw was Jersey Boys. It was a good show. Most of the entertainment was in small venues. Even the main theater was small in comparison to other ships we've been on. Specialty Dining was not included in our Sail-A-Way cabin, but we paid extra for it to spend dinner with friends whose cabin did. It is not worth spending any extra, especially Ocean Blue which cost an additional $14 per person. Shore excursions were expensive and not always what it was advertised to be. Time in port was too short. In Ketchikan we only had time for our excursion. Time in port at Victoria is a joke. We didn't bother to get off the ship. We docked at 8pm and had to be back before midnight. Service was generally good other than waiting in lines. Overall, we did had a good time. Read Less

I decided to take vacations the last moment (needed a break from a stressful work assignment) so once I decided on the destination, an Alaska cruise, I got what was still available so it wasn't really a thorough choice. Some other lines were selling out fast, the Norwegian Bliss still had a mini-suite (better accommodations were sold out) so I took it. This was my first cruise so I didn't know what to expect, but I was overall pleasantly surprised, with many ups, but also, there were a few downs. The good: the Norwegian Bliss is a very new ship, and it is tastefully decorated, with everything in top shape and working order. The service is unbelievable, with extremely friendly and helpful staff everywhere. We didn't have a single negative experience with the staff. We were impressed with how they were always willing to help, with a smile, and were very efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. The Norwegian Cruise Line must have an excellent training center for the staff! We felt pampered! Some of the food was surprisingly good. The La Cucina restaurant served one of the best Italian meals I've ever had, and I'm half-Italian (I'm a dual citizen of Italy and the United States), I know Italian cuisine very well. Food Republic was delicious with original items, very well-presented. Los Lobos was very tasty too, with Mexican food that benefits from a modern touch. The one meal we had at the complimentary Manhattan was excellent and almost as good as what we had in the paid specialty venues above. Breakfast at The Local was tasty and peaceful. The swimming pool area and the hot tubs were clean and pleasant, and never too crowded. The Observation Lounge is a very cool and relaxing space, and they have tasty snacks and a nice piano bar. I really enjoyed the cast of the musical Six (the other musical, Jersey Boys, I didn't attend because I had seen it already), and the Beatles cover band at The Cavern. A duo of Phillipino male pianist and female singer were excellent. The silent disco with earphones at the Social was cool. The bar that specializes in Mojitos was good too. The wine bar The Cellar was excellent, with very good tasting events, including lectures by a very knowledgeable sommelier. I've been studying and tasting wine for decades and still, he surprised me with some information that I didn't know. The stand-up comedians were very, very funny! My wife very much enjoyed the Spa. She had several treatments there, and found the staff to be competent, and with prices similar to what she pays elsewhere. I didn't frequent it. She also liked the Gym with Yoga and Aerobic classes. Gift shops were good; my wife gave me a beautiful Scuderia Ferrari watch and I gave her a nice necklace. These were both well-priced. Other guests were friendly, polite, and we had some nice conversations. Embarkation was easy and fast. Disembarkation, however, was rather slow, with long lines and long waiting times. The bad: The Norwegian Bliss, together with the similar Norwegian Joy, are two of the biggest ships in the business, and the elevators, 16 in total, were overwhelmed. Often, the elevators were full when they reached our deck, and we had to wait and wait for an opportunity to get in. This ship should have the double of the number of elevators they offer. It's a pity that obviously, this can't be changed. The architects should have planned it better: for a ship this size, add more elevators! Some of the food was rather mediocre. The two restaurants with the best reputation, Ocean Blue and Le Bistro, were paradoxically very weak. For example, I had a steak with five peppers at Le Bistro, and I had to abundantly add more pepper to get any flavor at all, and the meat was overcooked although I asked for medium rare. Again, I lived in Paris, France, for 5 years and I know French cuisine very well. Everything we had at Le Bistro was bland and a pale imitation of good French cooking. Ocean Blue was also rather unremarkable. We had better seafood in the other venues, as compared to this one that specializes in seafood. Weird. Two of the three main complimentary restaurants, Taste and Savor, were also very mediocre. The Garden Cafe serves a buffet, and the food there was rather unappealing as well, not to forget, it was very crowded and chaotic. A particular breakfast at Savor was almost disgusting, with a croissant with scrambled eggs that looked like it was microwaved, so mushy the croissant was, and Eggs Benedict that were pretty dry and chewy. Some of the live music was atrocious. First of all, the selection is geared towards Country and Pop, two genres I don't care for. There was absolutely no venue that played jazz. For a cruise line that is registered in the United States (as well as the Bahamas) and sails to and from mostly American cities (with the exception of Victoria, BC) with most guests being American, it is weird that they don't present at all the most quintessential American genre, jazz. I also enjoy classical music and there was none to be found. The blonde female pianist was terrible, often botching the musical lines. The rock band Blue 4, oh my God, they must be the worst I've ever heard! Slow, low energy, poor playing, and mediocre voices. I can't believe the cruise line can't find better musicians. As a matter of fact, in the talent show featuring members of the crew, there were two waiters who sang much better than most singers who were hired for the live music! It would be nice to have an indoor swimming pool for the cold weather. Apparently they do have one in The Haven, the upscale section of the ship, but it's only for the guests of that section, which was sold out when I booked my cruise. The shore excursions in general were expensive and not a good value. Some were enjoyable but others were rushed and confusing, including, it was hard to find the correct buses outside. Maybe it's the luck of the draw since there are so many options, but unfortunately some of the ones we picked weren't that great. We bought them from the cruise line website and later realized that the same excursions are offered elsewhere for much cheaper prices. Oh well, I guess next cruise I'll be smarter. A couple of them were good, though. The art auctions weren't good. We found most of the art being sold, to be very tacky. Funny enough, the one piece we liked inside the art venue, wasn't for sale; it was part of the permanent ship decor. So, overall, I'm pleased with the Norwegian Bliss, but I do think they need to hire better musicians, be a bit more even in terms of food quality, and it would be lovely to have more elevators and an indoor swimming pool, although these structural issues are set in stone and can't be changed. The ship was very nice but all the little things I was told I would experience on my first cruise did not happen The food in the restaurants that I had to pay for were not to the caliber as what you would expect my advise dine at the buffet Port stays to me were short and not enough time to enjoy the area Never did meet my stateroom steward, left numerous notes requesting things that never were addressed Wine tasting classes were one of the most entertaining and educational activates At this point I will have to try another cruise line to compare, but the group I was with has traveled on numerous other cruise lines and this was there first with NCL and they were not impressed The large shows were very nice but the music performed in the public areas need some improvement We were lucky to meet the beverage manager and enjoyed the laughter with her and she helped make some things better for our trip Read Less

The cruise itself was great due to the destinations, but the service of the onboard staff and the hidden fees ($15/person per day) were enough to turn us away from booking again. To think those fees are charged on the basis of service, and to have experienced better service at McDonald’s, is enough to book elsewhere. Ship itself is fabulous, the staff just needs a crash course in basic customer service skills. Food was good when it was cooked correctly (had to send meals back). Staff constantly gave misinformation to guests on our cruise, including closing time of restraints and disembarkation times. Most staff appeared inconvenienced to be on shift. Go karts were fun but those also cost $15/person. Entertainment was more annoying than entertaining, the comedian shows were few and far between. Lack of things to do while at sea. Casino was good but closed constantly. Bar taxes kept appearing (even when on the drink package) depending on what waters we were over. Fees everywhere! Read Less

We wanted to go to Alaska. Our daughter picked this cruise. We were not disappointed. Easy on, easy off, impeccable service, loved the observation windows, beautiful new ship, the inside passage and glacier bay was awesome, Will at Mixx was our favorite, cannot say enough! Our room was beautiful, large shower, loved the balcony, especially when going through glacier bay. The drinks were awesome, good variety of food and entertainment, observation deck was great, lots of great excursions, and awesome staff. You can be as busy or relaxed as you want. We saw about 10 whales that stayed along the ship for 5-15 minutes! Was too cool. Everyone was so friendly. Cleanliness and hand hygiene was greatly promoted!! There really is something for everyone. So many activities to partake of. I will repeat, I really want to repeat this cruise again in the future. My husband and daughter agree!!! We all totally enjoyed ourselves to the max. Read Less

This was a girls trip of a lifetime. We had our eyes set on the Bliss since she was made for Alaska. Service all around was very attentive. The ship staff provided personalized service with chocolate covered strawberries, petit fours and hors’d oeuvres delivery to our stateroom throughout the whole trip! NCL anticipated our needs such as snacks and drinks with warm towels after excursions in the wilderness. Our room steward Pho was so efficient and provided us with everything we asked for. There was constant QA by the heads of the departments in every area of the ship to ensure everything was in tip top shape. The only downside was the photography studio, the staff were not helpful with our questions and condescending. They really left us feeling bad and put off plus our photo order was wrong. Entertainment was top notch, Jersey Boys was excellent. Six was super fun to watch. We had a spa mini suite and the upscale bath products were a nice touch. We went to the spa daily and soaked in the pools. Napping on the lounge chairs was unavoidable. I highly recommend NCL Bliss for fun, relaxation and being spoiled. Read Less

We just returned from our cruise to Alaska. I’ve previously cruised the Princess and Disney lines. The Norwegian Bliss was incredible and my favorite. We stayed in the Haven 2 bedroom suite and adored every minute. The Haven is well worth the price. The Haven restaurant was outstanding in every way and by far my favorite place to eat on the ship. We had our 3 boys aged 13,13 and 12 and they made sure to make them feel super special. We also had a couple of severe food allergies and we never had an issue as our allergies were taken very seriously. The whole staff remembered our names, favorite dishes, etc. I feel I left with friends! We also had a great time in the non- haven areas. The Cruise director provided lots of fun entertainment in the form of game shows, trivia, live music and shows. We truly enjoyed all of it. Deal or no deal and dancing with the stars were some of our highlights! The spa was amazing as well. I even had acupuncture! The kids liked the laser tag the best. The arcade wasn’t huge ( don’t recommend the pass). The race track was fun to a degree- you cannot pass people so you can end up going really slow. But it’s worth trying it. The water slides were fun and our 12 year olds favorite. And yes- they were open most of the cruise. Alaska was breathtaking. My favorite part was Glacier Bay. Just awe inspiring! I do encourage doing excursions to see the beautiful landscapes of Alaska. Otherwise the towns are full of typical shops. Cute- but that gets boring after a while. The crew was The hardest working I’ve seen. With over 70 nationalities on board, there was never a language barrier. I enjoyed getting to know them:) I cannot wait for our next adventure. Again, if you are on the fence about spending extra on the Haven- do not hesitate. The priority boarding on and off, amenities, priority scheduling of activities and the space itself is just wonderful. With over 4K of passengers on the ship at times we felt like we had our own private yacht in the Haven. Read Less

this was our first time cruising on a large ship. Because of the number of people on the ship, the cruise was not as pleasant as it could have been. spent a lot of time waiting for elevators and in lines at restaurants. Although there were a variety of restaurants most restaurants had the same menu and it was a matter of sitting in different restaurants to eat the same food. Many of the waitstaff seemed disorganized and less than friendly. Staff overall were impersonal and inaccessible Since the cruise was to Alaska, many of the outdoor special activities such as the racetrack and swimming pool we’re not usable. disembark meant at the end of the cruise was efficient. But one of our experiences disembarking for an excursion was a nightmare due to the crowds. We are glad we went for the experience of Alaska, but will cruise a smaller ship from now on. Read Less

Received a promotional offer from a travel agency we have used before. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery. The Ports were fun but the stop in Victoria at 19:30 was a waste of time. Time would have been better spent staying longer in Ketchikan, which was too short. We spent 2 days seeing Seattle before the cruise which was nice. Transfer from hotel to airport to ship went smoothly. Enjoyed the amenities onboard the ship and the time in Glacier Bay was very nice. Best breakfast onboard was the buffet. Restaurant menu was very limited which is understandable on a week long cruise. Best dinner was in the Local. Other restaurants tried to make things too fancy with tiny portions.. Disembarkation was a very pleasant experience. We just tagged our bags and put them in the hallway the night before and the next time we saw the was a baggage claim in our hometown. They even had our boarding passes printed and delivered to our room so we could go straight to security and boarding. Read Less

This was my honeymoon cruise. I booked through NCL and was told I would be given a $50 shore excursion credit. When I got on the ship, I was told I didn't qualify. This put a damper on my honeymoon. It isn't the money, it is the principle of the matter. I was told to expect this perk but then denied it. I even asked if they would pull the tapes to check what I was promised. Guest services said they would be in touch on the ship, I never heard anything there and when I submitted a customer care ticket to NCL, I still haven't gotten a response. It just feels like I was misled. I always thought that Norwegian was supposed to be a higher-class company, but Carnival would have resolved it on the spot. I paid more because I wanted a beautiful honeymoon, but I didn't get what I envisioned. As far as the cruise itself, I read another person's review and I wanted to know what ship they were on...then I read they had Bulgari products and chocolate-dipped strawberries. I realized it had to be the Haven. So, unless you are willing to shell out a large sum of money, you will be treated differently. Here are my observations: Cons: 1. The cabin noise is awful. When we first got in our cabin, I thought we were under the swimming pool, then I figured out it was the toilets flushing that was making the noise. 2. The dining rooms are packed, even with reservations, we had to wait. They try to tempt you to get all your meals in the Garden area, but it is packed too and the food is subpar. Meat always overcooked and vegetables mushy. 3. Activities, when they are being held are always packed. Plan early or you won't get into anything. Luckily, I booked the shows before we got on board or we'd have missed out. We never were able to try out the racetrack. 4. As mentioned earlier, if you are in the Haven, you have additional perks. But I really expected them to do something for our honeymoon. We were given a card to take to the dining room, but we received nothing special. I was a little shocked. 5. The people on the ship really act like they don't want to be there. They look stressed as if they did something wrong, they were going to be fired. Made me feel like I was supporting a slave environment. 6. Photos - there just weren't a lot of opportunities for photos. 7. If you want premium food, you have to pay for it. At least Carnival puts lobster tail on the regular menu once during the cruise! 8. The ship's size is awful. The problem is just there are too many people on board and not enough resources put in place to deal with them. The Atrium was always packed. They pulled out aluminum chairs for people to sit on. Docking was awful. Packed elevators and long lines. When we got to BC there was a line that wrapped around the ship. We were late getting there and people who had excursions booked were anxious to get off. I still can't believe they put us in port at 8:00 at night for a three-hour docking. Just ridiculous. So, was it all bad, no, there were some good parts. So let's look at the Pros: 1. The ship itself is beautiful and elegantly done. The Observation Lounge is a treasure and should be enjoyed. 2. The views from the Garden Eatery tables are better than the ones in the dining room. 3. The shows were very good. Jersey Boys was great and so was Six. 4. You don't have the constant pressure to drink on the ship. No one will approach you trying to push the alcohol. 5. The ports were beautiful, (except for BC, we didn't do anything there because of the hour we got there.) Excursions were great. I highly suggest the gardens at Juneau and the train ride through the mountains at Skagway. It's long but has some beautiful sights. Make time to visit Seattle too. Pike's Place is awesome. Lots of great seafood and flowers aplenty! Read Less

We chose Norwegian Cruise Line Bliss when looking for an Alaskan cruise. Previous experience with NCL was excellent. Price was good. The ship was gorgeous. Lots to do. We especially enjoyed the show's. But by far the greatest shows on an Alaskan cruise are provided by the sea & lands of Alaska and British Columbia. The mountains, bays, fjords, glaciers and whales were just spectacular. We had a balcony stateroom, and frequently enjoyed the balcony to see the views. We went on a number of excursions, including whale watching, hikes through the temperate rain forests, Kruschler's Wildlife Reserve (the guy is a trip), and canoeing. All very goid. We saw orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, sea otters and innumerable birds including eagles. Our cabin was spacious and comfortable. We ate at several restaurants, including Japanese, Mexican and French. Food was outstanding. We enjoyed the pool, waterside and especially the hour you've on the Bliss. Great cruise. Read Less

Wanted to visit Alaska. This was my first time on a cruise ship and I absolutely loved it. Lots of things to do on board, terrific food and great staff from beginning to end. Since this was an end of season cruise, there were not as many people on board but there were still several thousand of us. Everything was managed very well with one exception. We did three excursions through Norwegian. The first two were terrific. In Skagway, we went on a Gold Panning, Sled Dog and Railway Summit tour. It was great but a very long day at around 7 hours. In Ketchikan, we did an Eagles, Lighthouse and Totem tour - I would absolutely love to do this tour again. The boat crew were great and the scenery was amazing. We got an unexpected bonus by sighting 3 whales who gave us a great show. The third tour was in Victoria to the Butchart Gardens. Unfortunately it was at night and the lighting at the gardens was about the same as the solar lights we put out along our sidewalk. Very frustrating since you could tell that in the daylight, these gardens would have been fantastic. Don't waste your money on this one. Norwegian should not be offering it as it was really just a long bus ride in the dark to visit a very dark garden. Too bad this marred an otherwise wonderful experience. Read Less

The Ports and Excursions were all so much fun, I think one of my favorite days is when we cruised through Glacier Bay, it was so beautiful and Ketchikan was one of my favorite ports. Our Cabin was plenty big and we had lots of room for all our stuff. The staff for our Stateroom was so friendly and anything you needed they would take care of it. There were lots of activities on the ship, my favorite was the casino of course I won on the slot machines! This is a trip I would absolutely take again especially on the Bliss!! Read Less

The only thing that was hard to hold on to is self-discipline. The quarters, people, and facilities are stunning. I couldn't leave my cabin without finding it made up and snacks replaced with other snacks I couldn't walk around the Haven (ship within the ship for upscale cruisers) without someone asking if I needed them to get me anything. Haven restaurant served gourmet food every meal The off-shore excursions were easily arranged by the concierge. The 24-hour butler was just a phone call away. The scale of the scenery was grand and awe inspiring. The Jersey Boys show was magnificent. I almost had withdrawal symptoms when I got back home. Want to do it again. One of the things I really like is the opportunity to leave feedback on any crew members that stood out for superb customer service. I had to name quite a few. If you decide to go on a cruise, take this one and book a suite in the Haven if possible. I was very pleased. Read Less

Overall food quality was poor. Stateroom was smaller than we are accustomed to. Ship was challenging to navigate. Large ship made buffet crowded and hard to find a table. Specialty restaurants are the focus, main dining room was poor. Itinerary was nice and the captain did an excellent job in glacier bay. The ship is new so was in great condition. Some of the lounges were great especially the observation lounge on deck 15. The entertainment was average except for Jersey Boys which was excellent. Be prepared to walk as elevators are at each end of the ship. The adult only pool was a nice touch but small. If you are into casual dress this is the ship for you. Jeans are welcome everywhere. Cabin stateroom attendant was excellent. The specialty restaurant Le Bistro was excellent but you pay for the experience. Overall I think other cruise lines offer a better experience for the price.
