On the 3rd of August I boarded Celebrity Infinity for an Alaskan cruise. When I signed up for this trip I was told that Celebrity was the Cadillac of cruise lines and that I was going to be shocked at how much better the service and overall cruise experience was going to be. They were wrong! I can honestly say that this was the worst cruise on which I've ever been.

We arrived in Seattle two days early and stayed at the Red Lion Fifth avenue. The room was clean and pleasant. Location was good for strolling. Easy walk, to Pike Place even with limited mobilility. Pike Place was disappointing - very dirty and junky. Pike place Chowder was decent but overrated . Best food and people watching was a little deli on the corner across from the hotel. I forget the ...
Convenience to departure port and cost were the initial reasons for choosing this cruise. Destination ports were secondary. I'd heard (mostly) good things about Celebrity and was pleased at the scheduled fare.
Check-in took two hours but did go smoothly.
This was the first time I had a room without a veranda, and actually was almost entirely pleased with the view from our 2nd deck ...
Arrived Seattle one day prior to the ship sail day, get to the ship terminal around 11:30, no porter or any one greeting us until almost to the place drop off the luggage. Then the sign was not clear about what the passenger should go after that, perhaps that we were early, but it just seems a little disorganized on the size of the company and ship.
Everything went smoothly, go eat lunch, ...
Overall, I'd say we had a wonderful cruise but there is a lot of room for improvement.
Positives: Room with veranda was great with adequate storage and great views. Cabin attendants came when we were gone every time. Towels, robes, etc were appropriate.
Food was excellent and plentiful.
Entertainment was surprisingly good. Brent Nixon was entertaining and a talented educator. I was interested ...
Just returned from Celebrity Infinity, cruised 6/22 - 6/29/12. Arrived in Seattle the night before (very late) so we stayed at the Fairfield (Marriott) by the airport. Free shuttle, came in 10 minutes and we used points. After breakfast we hopped on the Seattle Shuttle for $12.00 per person to get us to the pier. We arrived by 11:15 am, met our friends and completed the check in process very ...
Sailed Celebrity Infinity round trip Seattle - Tracy Arm Fjord - June 15 - 22, 2012. When we boarded (which seemed pretty organized) and finally were on board the ship, we passed a couple of crew members standing next to some Mimosas. They never offered any to us. I went up and asked if those were for us and then we were given some. What a send off! That should have been the tip off for me ...
So.....I'm just not sure about cruising.... After my Greek cruise....I said that I wasn't going to cruise again UNLESS: (1) I was cruising with really fun people and I didn't really care about where I was going, or (2) I was ok with just getting a 'taste' of where I was going and didn't care if I missed seeing the cities in depth....
In Greece.....I felt really 'ripped off' because I only got ...
We arrived in Seattle four days before the cruise. We have a grand daughter and hubby living there and wanted to spend some time with them. We stayed at Hotel Max, based on the recommendation of another CC poster. It was an excellent choice. The price was a lot more reasonable than most of the local hotels. Hotel Max is about five blocks from Pike Place Market. The Red Fin Restaurant is at the ...
My Demographics
My wife and myself, about 40. Cruised to Alaska with Holland America, Mexican Riviera with Disney.
Pre-Cruise:
You can check in your luggage with the Port Authority Concierge at 8:30am for $3 a bag. This is the Port Authority and not the cruise line, so you will have to pick up your bags again to check them in with the cruise line. This service allows you to sight-see Pikes ...
