My husband and I just got home from the September 7, 2012 sailing to Alaska on Infinity. I honestly do not understand what all the complaint reviews are about. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. Our head waiter, Alfred, and our assistant waiter, Oscar, could not have been better. The were very concerned about our meal and if we were enjoying our dinner. The buffet had any kind of food ...
We were on the last cruise of the Alaskan Tracy Fjord on the Infinity in mid-September. I understand that the Solstice is doping these cruises next year. I was traveling with my mother. We flew into Seattle from Tucson via Las Vegas on Southwest. I had cruised to Alaska before in 1999 on the Statendam. Last time Seattle was a transfer point as that cruise left from Vancouver.
Before going ...
The Celebrity Infinity Alaskan Cruise was a good experience and I would recommend doing it - once. Before I dive into a more detailed review it's worth noting that I start with a bias - I love cruise vacations. I've been on at least 14 that include itineraries within the Caribbean, Mexico, the Mediterranean and now Alaska. I've sailed on 4 different lines (Carnival, Holland America, Royal ...
The night before the cruise, we stayed at the Westin in downtown Seattle, which is handy to Starbucks and a large drugstore. We arrived for embarkation at 11 AM, waiting just a short time before boarding. Our room was ready by 1 PM. That first day there were no flowers or canapes, the safe didn't work and had to have the battery replaced, and the plugs didn't work. The electrician came in and ...
First time Cruiser here, so nothing to compare it to but OMG did this exceed any and all my expectations.
After reading all the nightmares we arrived at the terminal at 1230 worried about what we would be doing until the 2pm boarding time. We arrived to find over a 1000 other guests there already and with a sigh we settled in for the long wait. To my wonder and pleasure within 10 minutes we ...
On the 3rd of August I boarded Celebrity Infinity for an Alaskan cruise. When I signed up for this trip I was told that Celebrity was the Cadillac of cruise lines and that I was going to be shocked at how much better the service and overall cruise experience was going to be. They were wrong! I can honestly say that this was the worst cruise on which I've ever been.
The Staff in the main ...
Second time on Infinity. (First time after retrofit.) The ship is beautiful. Staff is great! Itinerary is BAD!!!! There was never really an opportunity to view marine life. If we were cruising close to the shore it was in the middle of the night. Otherwise we were in open ocean. An itinerary that goes up the passage between Vancouver Island and the US and mainland Canada would be better. Also, we ...
My family and I sailed on the Celebrity Infinity to Alaska Inside Passage beginning on August 17, 2012. My husband and I stayed in a CC cabin while our adult kid was in an interior cabin. This was our first time sailing with Celebrity and we've heard so much about Celebrity ships being more upscale in food and service than other cruise lines. The ship was purportedly in dry dock in 2011 so we ...
We arrived in Seattle two days early and stayed at the Red Lion Fifth avenue. The room was clean and pleasant. Location was good for strolling. Easy walk, to Pike Place even with limited mobilility. Pike Place was disappointing - very dirty and junky. Pike place Chowder was decent but overrated . Best food and people watching was a little deli on the corner across from the hotel. I forget the ...
Flew in from Dallas in the morning and had set up town car service to the dock.....they turned up with a 12 seat van....not very happy. Got to the boat at 11:30 and was surprised it only took less than 20 mins to get through the line and board. We booked Aqua class so we could eat at Blu, smart move as this made all the difference. The maitre d (Czajka Wlodzimerz) was fantastic, remembered who we ...
