Consistently Inconsistent

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Seabourn Encore

Not to belabor a review sent to Seabourn, but the ship, although pretty, new and with good design elements, did not meet our expectations. The cabin was fine as was the ships layout with the possible exception of more room at the main pool area. Five or Six stars? No, more of a Holland America experience for twice the price. Service was good to poor and depended on the day. Training ...

The penthouse on deck 11 was fabulous

This is our second cruise on the Encore this year and the most disappointing. The crew was missing the usual spark and coordination that we associate with past Seabourn cruises. This was our 6th cruise with Seabourn and we found the food was lacking in variety and below the usual standard expected with this line. Rather than raising the bar I think senior management are cost cutting and lowering ...

When I got on board I thought gosh this is lovely this new ship, then after a few days I began to find design faults. You could not walk round the deck above the pool as there was not enough room from the end of the sun beds. The theatre had lots of seats with restricted views because of large pillars. I did not like where the piano bar was situated as you thought you were going into the Grill. ...

Seabourn has reached a tipping point-- for better or worse-- with Encore

When Diane Love and I completed the first segment of our 61-day journey near the end of Encore's inaugural year, we found that in many ways it delivers what Seabourn promises-- contemporary design, more dining and entertainment venues than its other ships, more open deck areas for swimming and sunning, and the feel of an upscale resort. Encore and its sister ship due next year fulfill the ...

We wanted to see Bali and the Komoto Dragons. The Encore is only 6 months old,a real pretty ship, staterooms are quite large, double sinks in bathroom, big screen tv,good size balconies. If you are new to Seabourn, the Seabourn Square is a new concept on deck 7, this where the reception and shore excursions are booked, they don't tell you this, you have to figure it out yourself. The gourmet coffee and ...

Very much liked the smaller ships. Would not go on the bigger ship again. Staff from our previous cruises tried hard, and were great. Too many inexperienced crew.Hygiene standards slipped badly. Guests not using the hand gel and abusing crew who asked them to do so. Hotel Manager and Captain should have done more. Thomas Keller Restaurant not good, food drowned in salt. The Restaurant and ...

Not quite ready for showtime

The Seabourn Encore is a gorgeous ship inside (except the Club - more on that later); and will certainly be the new star of the fleet when she is up to scratch, fully-stocked and staff trained. BUT based on our recent experience aboard her first voyage, there are a few wrinkles to be worked out. The designer while talented with colour, texture and pattern, apparently wasn't an overly-practical ...
