Due to high water levels we started our cruise on the Scenic Ruby from Budapest. We joined the Scenic Crystal in Rudesheim. We we were therefore able to compare the two ships. Ruby is older but basically the same as Crystal except Crystal has Deluxe Balcony rooms which we had booked. The Ruby was in better condition than Crystal. Crystal had ripped and stained carpets. After the Douro, the Seine and the Rhone, the Garonne etc. are a disappointment - ugly brown water (clean apparently) and rather dull landscape - not until you get out into the vineyards does it start to get pretty. Our Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest was wonderful, the ship was beautiful, the cruise director Richard was just amazing as was his off-sider Andree. Everything about this cruise from Paris - Honfleur - Paris was excellent, with the exception of the food at dinner.
