Scenic Tours are to be thoroughly applauded for their excellent service, from our departure, throughout our tour, to our return home to Melbourne! On our arrival in St Petersburg, we were met by our Tour Guide and were escorted to our cruiser, "The Scenic Tsar". For the next 4 days, we were expertly guided through the wonderful city of St. Petersburg, including; Peterhof's Grand Palace, Yusupov Palace (where Rasputin was murdered), The Hermitage Museum, St Catherine's Palace, and finally, an exclusive Ballet performance for all guests. For the next number of days, we sailed the canals, lakes and rivers on our way to Moscow. Many historic villages. churches and museum sites were visited during our voyage. Finally, in Moscow, Scenic took us around some amazing sights, including; Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, the Museum of Astronautics and the famous Kremlin. A ride on the Moscow Metro was an eye-opener for fast, efficient, inexpensive and ultra-clean public transportation. Whilst in Moscow, we were treated to evening's entertainment at the world famous Moscow Circus, and the legendary Russian National Dance Show. During our two weeks with Scenic, our impressions of Russia exceed all of our expectations! The service provided by the staff and crew of the Scenic Tsar was exemplary, as were the meals. All meals included drinks. Our cabin was always kept impeccably clean Lastly, it was a relief that all tips, side trips, drinks during meals and special performances were all paid for in advance. This made life much simpler! Read Less

The trip was a wonderful experience. Scenic Jade was well cared for, clean and welcoming The sights and experiences were second to none. For us the best parts were the sail though the German Forest, Wachau Valley and the Romantic Rhine. The crew were professional, friendly and attentive with every activity including embarkation and disembarkation were very well managed and executed. The cabin was excellent and the food was well presented. One sour note which everyone should note. The back two rows of cabins on the middle deck were badly affected by engine noise especially during the night. Especially when navigating the 64 locks on the trip. Passengers in two of the four cabins were actually moved to other cabins because of the noise. Scenic should not sell these two rows at the same price as the others further from the engine or should at least tell everyone about the noise. Andrew Burke Read Less

We had toured with scenic before and found them to be "unreal". So when we were looking at Europe we looked at scenic and they had a great deal and everything was included. Scenic rep was there to meet us before we left Sydney and met us in Amsterdam and transported us to the airport at the end of our tour. The Ruby was an excellent cruise ship. The cabin was spacious and the service was second to none. The meals were top class and every meal was hot when it needed to be. Tours we chose were really interesting and the local guides very informative and patient with us. We were a bit slow but no one got upset. I have recommended Scenic to my sister and now she is taking a tour next year. The on board entertainment was good.We enjoyed locals showing us local dancing and violin player. Read Less

This was our first cruise. We were looking to celebrate an Anniversary milestone and what better way than by enjoying cruising the Rhine and the Danube, through magnificent scenery, whilst visiting a wide variety of towns and cities with great histories? We were made to feel really welcome on board by all the staff, in particular our quite excellent butler, Harry, with service always readily available. The cabin provided comprehensive accommodation and facilities and seemed to be serviced twice or three times each day, keeping it quite impeccable. The public areas were of a high standard and the Restaurant facilities provided a great choice of high class food. In conclusion, this cruise really delivered, also providing a good choice of excursions including tours of Amsterdam, Cologne, Salzburg and Vienna, with 'enrichment' activities including a visit to the Spanish Riding School and a Concert at Palais Lichenstein in Vienna. This cruise comprehensively exceeded our expectations. Read Less

Enticed by the images of castles, green pastures, churches and villages of Europe, it was time to book a comfortable more leisurely exploration of this part of the world. Scenic's blitz of advertising in print and TV was timely, the information day at Sofitel, Melbourne helped consolidate my decision being an Australian organisation. Budapest to Amsterdam - Jewels of Europe River Cruise Not having to embark till mid afternoon meant there was enough time to explore Budapest for a few hours. We were offered afternoon tea and cakes at Budapest Marriott with the opportunity to meet fellow travellers. On boarding Scenic Jewel we were greeted by crew and Captain with flowers, drinks and a refreshing face towel, much appreciated as it's summer. By the time we found our 'home' for the next fortnight, our luggage was awaiting to be unpacked!! Not being an ocean liner I prefer the cosier feel of a smaller vessel, yet large enough for smooth and stable travel. Our cabin was compact, with more than adequate storage, mini bar (fully stocked) and security safe. Ensuite was well stocked with French toiletries and diligently restocked daily and cleaned/tidied twice/day. Buffet breakfast (with option for continental breakfast for early risers) and lunch with dinner being a la carte there's an Italian Dining Option as well in the Reserved Restaurant area. It was near impossible to not overeat and portioned sized evening meals was most welcomed. Given the vessel has a small kitchen it was amazing the range and variation of mainly European delectables that were consistently created, the meals would arrive hot and freshly cooked. The fresh fruit sorbets were out of this world!! Difficult diners (with multiple allergies) were not a problem and nothing was an issue. As it was an open bar offering; including cocktails and wines from local regions were the norm. Being an almost non drinker - an odd sip is all I can tolerate - I enjoyed the occasional mocktail. It is my understanding many other shipping companies offer only beers and wines!! (shared by fellow travellers). Entertainment at the end of each evening was well sourced, varied and interesting - allowed us a further appreciation of the region's culture. Because we had to traverse through 69 locks with each one taking on average 30 mins the sundeck was invariable quarantined from being used as deck equipment and canopies had to be constantly flattened then re-erected - this meant less space for those of us trying to burn off the calories - thank goodness for the small gym, but there's nothing like fresh air, majestic views and vit D. Take drip dry clothing - a complimentary 1kg laundry/cabin was most appreciated otherwise laundry service can add up. It is obvious the crew enjoy working on smaller vessels and with Scenic, as many have worked on ocean liners (small cities) previously. As each day passed we were like one big extended family of 140+ plus crew. Small surprises like venturing back to our cabins to find a different towel sculpture awaiting our return........this is not a dream!! Service overall was consistent, professional, obliging and "can do attitude" is commendable. Understandably some ports were not worth viewing as nothing was opened (on weekends), whereas other ports needed further exploration but there was not enough time although too small to make another trip to see these little gems. Not sure what's the best solution as I understand we have a schedule to keep to arrive at our final destination. Some places warranted at least 1 - 2 nights like Vienna, that is why these cruises are viewed as teasers or samplers of a region for further exploration without constant packing and unpacking one's luggage. The Shore excursions were well planned with supporting transport for those unable to walk steep inclines, though would have appreciated viewing some artisans, craftworks (like in Amsterdam), cottage industry rather than just more eating and drinking (a thought), although half a day excursions restricts how much one can achieve. Very impressed with Scenic buses along the way. Overall, really had a memorable magical 15 days with Scenic, enjoyed travelling with largely Australian travellers, felt very at home, so glad gratuities were included and it was up to us if we wanted to reward individually. Will share this experience with my travel agent, will continue to explore future regions with Scenic, although unsure how to balance travelling and spending say 1 - 2 days in some larger city locations without having to come back to that region with another travel organisational group. Thank you Scenic for some lovely memories. Read Less

We chose Scenic because it had a good reputation for quality holidays. We have not travelled extensively so we were looking for a high quality trip with no hassles. Scenic delivered in all areas of the holiday. The flights, shuttles, tours, guides, meals, cabins and especially the crew on Scenic Jade were fantastic. Well done everyone. The ship was well presented and the cabins were kept spotless at all times by the dedicated staff. Every one of the staff were friendly and keen to see your needs met. The crew quickly got to know you which made for a very personal feeling when on board. The dining experience was impressive. We dined at all three restaurants and found them all to be wonderful. The staff were again excellent and all showed a willingness to look after your every dining need or desire. They had a great knowledge of wines and always kept your glass topped up. There was some very interesting entertainment on board to amuse us in the down times but with the ever amazing views there was always something to keep you amazed. The shore excursions were run with precision and the fact that Scenic had its own buses just added to the ease and comfort afforded to us. Our tour director was very good. Read Less

What a way to visit Europe! A floating five star hotel but with a relaxed atmosphere. I have been wanting to do this cruise for a long time and the anticipation was far outmatched by the experience. Apart from the obvious beauty of the river and the destinations we visited there was a most unexpected highlight - the crew! Everyone from the housekeepers to the hotel manager contributed on a daily basis to our enjoyment of the experience with efficiency, professionalism and, above all, friendly good humour. I have severely impaired mobility and the crew could not have been more thoughtful in the way they assisted me in every aspect of life in board and on shore excursions. I'm sure that the other mobility impaired passengers on this cruise would share my view. Dining was a daily and nightly pleasure and the quality of the service again added to the quality of the dining experience. Our cabin, a Junior Suite was well appointed much roomier than expected and had he most comfortable bed! We slept like logs every night. I have slept in far worse beds in top hotels! Shore excursions were very well organised and Scenic have their own busses which meet the ship at ports. The local guides on excursions were, without exception, well trained amd well informed. Scenic offered older and disabled passengers the opportunity to join a 'gentle walkers' group for each excursion which covered basically the same ground but at a pace able to be managed by the group. Overall a wonderful experience which I would repeat in a heartbeat. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was ALL INCLUSIVE; because of the choice of shore excursions offered; because of the personal services; because of the dining choices; and also because of the wonderful reviews found on this website. Scenic Amber was just christened in April 2016 and the ship was beautiful. Everything was clean and well-kept. We had ordered a private balcony suite on the diamond level. When we got onboard we were told that we had been upgraded to the Deluxe Balcony Suite because this trip was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. And that was only the beginning of the wonderful things that the Scenic crew did for us. We were promptly greeted in our suite by Zoltan, our personal butler. We were to call him for anything we wanted--laundry, pressing, etc. Zoltan was a very personable guy!! And his goal was to please the guests!! Our cabin was awesome--especially the very comfortable bed. The sun balcony was a nice feature in that we could open the entire window for fresh air or to take photos. The shower was over-the-top with a great rain shower feature. We were provided with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and other personal care items. Dalma, our cabin attendant, ensured that we always had clean towels, bath mat, and personal items. Dalma also entertained us daily with animals made from our bath towels. Especially nice was the magnifying makeup mirror found inside the medicine cabinet. A hair dryer was also provided. We can't say enough about the dining on Scenic Amber. Breakfast buffet was very nice with fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, and many other dishes. One could also have an omelet made to order. In addition, you could also order from the breakfast menu--and those orders came up very fast! Lunch buffet was also very nice--lots of salads, cheeses, hot dishes, meats, desserts, ice cream, and a whole lot more. And you could also select something from the lunch menu. The salmon on the menu was very nice! Dinner was a real treat every night! Chef made a culinary delight every night--usually three choices for appetizer, soup, main course, and dessert. I do have to mention that ALL the waiters were very attentive and friendly. Hats off to Harry--he was a delight! The dinner meal was always a treat. Those staying on the Diamond Deck also can dine one time at the Table LeRive restaurant. There are only 6 couples dining there each night. The food was over-the-top and the service was superb!! Zoltan and Zully took care of our table with utmost care. This was a food and wine pairing event. Each course had a wine paired for the food. Everyone got the pleasure of dining at the Portobello one time during the cruise. The cuisine was Italian and the food was over-the-top again. And we were served by "Italian waiters." (Each of the waiters had taken on an Italian name for the evening.) A plus with Scenic is the unlimited drinks--whenever you want !! There was wine offered at each meal and it was not limited to one glass. You could get an alcoholic drink at anytime. Coffee drinks were also available in a "serve yourself" machine. Tea was also available. And there were always cookies nearby!! The entertainment was another PLUS. Scenic brings local entertainment onboard from the area and it was very nice. Entertainment was: local string group, Zither musician, Bavarian band, sand artist. This entertainment was usually in late afternoon before dinner. The shore excursions were a real treat. In Amsterdam we took a glass-top boat through the canal, visited a local cheese factory/store, and sampled marinated herring. At some ports we were transported on luxury coaches to our excursion destination. Each coach had a local tour guide speaking to us. The Tailor-Made device was especially nice! It allowed us to listen with earphones to the tour guide. At most ports, you could choose from two or three different excursions. Especially nice were the places that Scenic has set up "special" events -- the castle tour and dinner/entertainment in Marksburg; the Bavarian Octoberfest event in Freudenberg; and the "Sound of Music" event in Salzburg. These were especially enjoyable events!! I should include that we did not embark in Amsterdam because of the high water for the previous cruise. When we got to Amsterdam and met our Scenic person, we were transported to another town by motor coach to where the Amber had docked. That evening we cruised into Amsterdam and were there for the first day of excursions. Our cruise ended in Budapest. The night before we disembarked, the captain took the boat on a night cruise through Budapest--AWESOME!! The cruisers went up to the top deck to view the beautiful city while drinking their favorite adult drink. The waiters came up to the top deck to take care of all. The disembarkation was seamless also. Everyone was put onto a motor coach and taken to the appropriate hotel along with their luggage. We stayed at the Marriott and it was a very nice place. Only negative was the SOFT bed. Our friends and we extended three days in Budapest and flew back to US on Thursday. Scenic had arranged for our transfer from the Marriott to the Budapest airport. Our luggage tag showed 6:30 for our departure from the hotel and at 6:30 there was a driver there to pick us up. All without flaw !! We cannot say enough wonderful things about SCENIC AMBER. Everything was over-the-top !! And we can't wait for the next cruise with SCENIC !! Read Less

We had been with Scenic back in 2006 for a Canadian/Alaskan tour. Having been on 3 ocean cruises since, the European River Cruise was such a pleasure. The smaller group of 168 was so much better than the larger ocean cruises and the atmosphere on board was excellent. The food, excursions and other details were so very good and Scenic so well organised, they are to be congratulated. All excursions were included in the initial price, as well as drinks on board and local guides. This makes the trip great value for money. We added an extra 6 days, travelling by coach to Prague and Berlin and this section was also very good. We were accompanied by local guides for this part and they really knew the history of these areas and were excellent with the location walks on arrival. An excellent holiday overall and would recommend this tour with Scenic to anyone wanting to see Europe. Read Less

We did a Danube cruise on the Scenic Pearl from Nuremberg to Budapest from 20th to 27th June 16. We were in a Junior Suite. The cost including Business Class fares was £7500 for the two of us. High water levels on the Danube. We were notified before we left that the boat could not make it to Nuremberg because of the high water levels. We were told that we would be bussed to near Passau - about 2.5hrs. As we had gone out early for a weekend in Nuremberg this was no real issue. But for the others on the trip it was as they this meant they either had to miss Nuremberg or face a c 6hr/there and back bus trip. But the more serious issue was whether we would be stuck in Passau for the whole week. A Viking boat had tried to 'escape' only to hit the bridge and had to 'Abandon Ship'. Clearly not advisable! Eventually, they were able to make the ship as low as possible by removing sun shades all the furniture and railings on the sundeck and we made it under the bridge with inches to spare. I can't really criticise Scenic for any of this. But, as ever, communications were in short supply. They did keep us safe. Note this an not uncommon issue with river cruising that must be taken into account. Suite We had a Junior suite. But it was still quite 'compact'. About what you would expect from a 'Regular' suite on a sea cruise. I don't think we would have wanted anything smaller. Beds comfortable. Clean. Well equipped. Just as an aside, a number of cabins two floors below us flooded when a valve blew. They had 3 inches of water in their cabins and, as the boat was full, they were rather stuck. I think it would have ruined our holiday if it had happened to us. I understand the cabins had not dried out as the cruise ended and new occupants arrived. Food The food was a great disappointment. Breakfasts were fine. Buffet lunches missed all the stuff we had been expecting like a 'carving joint of the day', prawns, crab claws etc. Dinners were even more disappointing. We had no 'WOW' meals. Fish was universally overcooked as were the veg. If you want fine dining, Scenic is not for you. Food much better on UniWorld and it bears no comparison to what you would get on Regent or Silver Seas. The Crystal Dining room is more like a canteen. The tables are very close together with inches between the tables for four. The noise level is high and on hot days the air con couldn't cope. Service Generally Eastern European crew. We had 'issues' with our butler who had a real 'attitude' problem. But the rest were great - friendly and efficient. They probably need more staff as drinks service was slow and limited outside the main lounge. There is only one bar which was closed during an exhibition of local dancing. Excursions Generally very good. The perennial problems of guides wanting to fill every moment of a 90min coach trip with talk, talk, talk. But this is not exclusive to Scenic. Best trip was to Melk Abbey. The evening concert at the Palais Liechtenstein in Vienna was top notch in every way. The tour of the Hospital in the Rock in Budapest was fascinating. On the last night we were sailed along the Danube as the buildings were lit up. This was magical. Read Less

I am reviewing this sailing even though we were on the ship 3 nights. The Amber is a beautiful new ship and her cabins are spacious and plenty of storage including under the bed. Speaking of beds, the bed in our cabin was FANTASTIC. Such a luxurious feel to it and it had motor control for each side. The bathroom, especially the shower, was very nice, roomy and had several shower heads. Absolutely lovely!!. The staff were wonderful, courteous, friendly and helpful. The food was ok and prepared well. I loved the fact that I could have tea or an espresso throughout the day. The reason we were only on the ship a total of 3 nights is the river was high; specifically the Danube and Main rivers. We spent the first night on the ship and we were able to board the ship the last two days of our trip. I am giving the food just a ok is that the cruise line was running out of food and they did the best they could with what they had. I'm not complaining it was good but not to the standards of a luxury river cruise. I would sail Scenic again because of the limited experience we had on the ship we know we would love it if it were a longer sailing. Read Less

You could not fault the staff from the friendly involved Captain to the housemaids. All were exceptionally friendly and it gave the atmosphere of one big happy family - all committed to making our cruise perfect. The food was unbelievable and I can't believe other reports that talked about pork fillets and schnitzels. the a la carte menu at dinner catered to most tastes and they offered other options if it didn't suit. The food was cooked to perfection and 160 dinners were delivered promptly and with great attitude from the staff.Nothing was too much trouble and the wine flowed as did any other drink that you requested. Coffee and tea were also brought to the table on request. Breakfast was buffet or cooked as you waited and there were several options for lunch. The space of the deluxe suites was quite good for a river boat and the our director Kurt was organised, talented and super obliging. The night time entertainment was there for all to enjoy. Disappointed only in the fact that most moorings were not in a town and most excursions had to be accessed by a bus trip with several early starts. Scenic needs to make guests aware of this before booking. Read Less

We have previously taken the St Petersburg to Moscow river cruise with Viking, a Basle to Cologne cruise with Riviera and the Hurtigruten return trip between Bergen and Kirkeness. We booked the Scenic cruise on the basis of the all inclusive price, the cabin size, itinerary (Amsterdam to Budapest) and the claims about food quality. Although there was plenty to be enjoyed on the trip it did not deliver the increased quality that it should have considering the price level compared with our previous trips. The good bits were the cabin which was spacious and comfortable (although the air conditioning never succeeded in getting the cabin temperature down to the level that we wanted). The balcony was a nice to have but there was actually very little time available to just sit and watch the world go by. The shore trips were too long and too many but there was very little point in staying on board as the boat seemed to be always moored well away from anything on shore that could be explored individually. The trips also seemed very much aimed at an audience that had never seen a building that was more than 50 years old so became very repetitive. The food was not as good as we expected. Breakfast was the best meal and if that standard had been maintained we would have been happy. Lunch was repetitive (pasta dishes almost every day) and dinner varied between quite good and awful (rubber lobster on one night). I suspect that the kitchen was not large enough to produce the variety that they were attempting. One meal that we were offered was in the Italian Restaurant which was pretty good. One of the other guests that we got to know was invited to have dinner with top deck passengers on what was called La Rive (actually a large table within the same dining room as the rest of us) and said that it was very pretentious and not very good. There were a range of short afternoon entertainment sessions which were generally well presented and interesting. They ranged from a string quartet to an oompah band! The lounge area on the ship looked quite tired. The double glazing had blown in at least 6 windows and some of the sofas were starting to look threadbare. On the positive side our butler was very helpful and the Tour Director was excellent. The electronic devices that allowed us to listen to our tour guides worked well but the other facilities that they offered such as details of landmarks along the river were very haphazard and became such an irritation that we just switched them off. If I was booking this trip again I would look much more carefully at alternatives and believe that I could have saved quite a lot of money by paying for drinks and tours that I actually wanted rather than having it all packaged. We chose this cruise on recommendations from our travel consultant and friends. We are a retired couple and to us this was a trip of our lifetime. The first week was brilliant, food accommodation, service was just what we had dreamed of. We had been a bit concerned about the height of the river from reports in Australia but presumed that there were no concerns as the cruise left Amsterdam on time and no mention of potential difficulties. How wrong were we? When we arrived in Regansberg where we were just to have a short stay before moving on over night to Vienna is when we were informed we had to stay overnight as the ship could not get under the next bridge due to high water levels. That one night turned into two and although staff were helpful and our Cruise director organized bus trips to see the places we were missing out on it wasn't until the afternoon of the second day we were informed we would have to leave the ship and be transported by coach to Vienna. This was a bus journey of 5 hours with a stopover for lunch. We were given money to pay for lunch. We were then advised that the concert in Vienna was to be provided free to all. On arrival in Vienna we were taken to a restaurant for a meal, which was awful, then expected to go straight to the concert without the opportunity to shower or change. My husband and I were exhausted so declined the concert in favour of the hotel, very sad as I was looking so forward to this! I have a spinal issue and those hours of sitting had made me very sore. The cruise was now obviously a bus trip! I have emailed and they have given us a $800 credit on another cruise! That's not much good to us. I understand about no control over weather conditions, but surely due to flood conditions in other parts of Europe, there should have been some idea of this happening. We were not given a choice we should have been, the second half of the trip was awful, the only good hotel was one night in the Carlton Ritz in Budapest. All the meals provided were nowhere near the standard on board. I would advise future guests to carefully check weather conditions and Travel Marvel to reconsider future policies. Read Less

My husband and I and another couple just returned from a cruise from Chalone sur Saone to Nice on the Sapphire. This was our first on Scenic but we had cruised with Viking once. This was our friends first river cruise. Due to the high water level our itinerary was disrupted thru no fault of the cruise company. This was supposed to be a luxury cruise! Where to start! The rooms were small as the sun balcony interfered with the width of the room. The bathroom was not as big as was advertised and did not have " flashing lights ". We had to leave the remains of the first bar of soap on the bathroom floor before we got a replacement but otherwise the room was very clean . We could have asked for one but people should be trained to observe what is needed . This is a luxury cruise! The food was average. The portions were so small that 3 bites of a salad and it was gone. There should have been more French dishes and more fresh fruit from the area . The wine was fantastic so we should have had the food to go with it. Most of the staff were wonderful but I think they were understaffed, especially in the dining room. If you stopped someone to ask them for something ,they stopped what they were doing for someone else and did your bidding . A few more staff were needed in the dining room. We talked to a lot of couples that had sailed with Scenic 6 or more times and they were not impressed with the cruise. It was nice to have the cruise all inclusive but it came at a premium price. Would we cruise again with Scenic , no. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the scenery is beautiful and because we love Portuguese food. The Duoro River in northern Portugal is spectacular: steep banks that have terraced vineyards right to the top, also olive and almond trees. The Scenic Azure is a lovely brand new ship, contemporary design with spacious cabins, very comfortable. All the staff are Portuguese, many from Porto where we set sail. The service is very professional but friendly and relaxed. 96 guests and 39 crew. Guests were mainly from Australia and UK with about a dozen Canadians and half as many Americans, mostly couples and mostly active seniors from ages early 60’s on up. There were interesting excursions, many of which required some level of fitness due to the steep hills and cobblestones .... Guests who were not as able could be accommodated by bus tours. Buses were new and very comfortable. The tour guides use communication systems which guests wear so that when they dial in they can hear the commentary without the guides’ having to yell. We sailed during the day so were able to appreciate the scenery --- we docked at interesting places and there are stretches of the river that are not heavily populated. The Duoro is becoming popular but so far not over-run --- we were only rafted a few times and the other ships tended to leave early in the morning in many cases, allowing us to have our coffee on the balcony. There were no noticeable exhaust fumes from the engines. The crew were friendly and professional, and not obtrusive. They all spoke fluent or almost fluent English. We were disappointed with the food. Meals were beautifully presented and professionally served with plenty of choices, but rather bland for the most part, lacking acid balance and seasoning. We were hoping for some more strongly flavored Portuguese specialties. This certainly did not spoil our experience and we recognize that chefs must accommodate many tastes – but other guests stated the same concern, one offering the opinion that the food lacked "zest". This is an all-inclusive cruise, with no added charges and no tipping. We recommend this luxury cruise. Read Less

Many of the river cruises appear the same. We chose this one because they gave us free business class airfares to Europe via Singapore where our daughter lives. We had numbers of private things to do airlines (Singapore) and Scenic are where more than helpful and gave us everything we needed (wanted) in the form of flights there and back to Australia. We spent an additional 3 weeks on our holiday. The cruise was and wonderful rest and very interesting even though we have been to Europe many times before. The food was outstanding and service impeccable. We were free to do whatever we pleased and the tours were graded for good and poor mobility individuals. It was a very manageable cruise for the disabled as the ship had a lift. I made use of the e-bikes although I found them very heavy after my own light road bike. The "Tailor-mades" were very useful both on/off the boat and on guided tours. For those had been to the cities before you were probably best to go off on your own with their GPS ":Tailor-mades". My only slight criticism is that these were heavy around your neck -- perhaps they need to upgrade their technology. Read Less

We are retired & have cruised with many lines, many times. The Scenic Experience is complete - air, transfers, alcohol(even in the room refrigerators), gratuities, excursions, whisperers, personalized GPS, & motorized bikes anytime. Nikola, the tour director was fabulous & the staff truly seemed to enjoy not only the passengers but each other & their jobs. This is not to say that it was perfect. Some of the lunch buffet was lukewarm & last year, on the Paris-Nice trip with the same line the trip was well below this level in itinerary, staff & food. We have taken the cruise from Budapest - Amsterdam & now from Amsterdam - Budapest twice with the same company & will do it again in a few years. It was wonderful. Be careful of the date you choose as the Rhine & Danube can flood in the spring & the ship can't get through a lock or under a bridge & the cruise itinerary goes out the window. Caveat - I understand that the refunds for a ruined cruise are under dispute in a class action suit. Read Less

Our Golden Wedding anniversary treat did not get off to a good start! Due to (apparently regular) delays at Amsterdam airport our flights to and from this hub (hub - hub) to Basel were delayed but at least we eventually arrived. But our luggage didn't! Nor did that of three other couples who had taken the same flights from Manchester. So, only after filling in the appropriate forms did we meet our transport to Scenic Pearl for the cruise to Amsterdam. And from that point on things only got better and better (despite only having the clothes we had travelled in!) Our Cruise Director Frank was quick to a) " get on to our case" [sorry about the pun!] and b) to assure us that Scenic would launder our clothes at no charge until our luggage turned up. The crew were quick to make us feel welcome, relaxed and at home - as they did through the whole journey. Overnight to Strasbourg and an afternoon which was to have been a walking tour of the city. Sadly, as there was no promise of our clothes arriving we skipped the walk and took to the shops for a few essential items, only to meet our cases arriving at the ship as we re-boarded. All this thanks mainly to the numerous calls Frank made the previous evening and that morning. We cannot thank him enough! Now able to relax, we enjoyed 6 more days of luxury, with service of the highest quality. I will not go into details about life on board, places we visited and sights we saw, except to say that whatever you expect from Scenic's publicity is more than matched by the reality. In every respect our cruise delivered more than we had anticipated. Food, entertainment, tours and facilities all to a standard which would be hard to beat (several times we had to pass through ships of other lines to reach our tour bus - no names, but from what we saw we were all certain Scenic Pearl was far superior). Above all - the crew! Whether domestic staff, kitchen, bar and service, or deck crew - all were happy to help, always smiling and enquiring about our well being (and not your standard "have a nice day" - always makes me cringe!). I've mentioned Frank, for he was our first "hero", but I could mention many others who made us feel special. And isn't that what you want and expect from a luxury cruise? This was our first ever cruise (we don't do "oceans" very well!) but over the years we've stayed in some very high class hotels throughout Europe and north America. Scenic Pearl is well up there in the list of places we'd go back to. Well done Scenic. We'll be back (but we need to save up a bit first!) Read Less

Having wanted to cruise from Amsterdam to Bucharest for several years, we investigated several companies and chose Scenic because it appeared to offer an excellent service, wide range of excursions and, importantly, was all inclusive. The latter appealed enormously as we knew we would not be liable for an expensive drinks bill and tipping at the end of the cruise. This cruise became our 50th wedding anniversary present to ourselves and we could not fault in any way the service we received. I travelled with a mobility scooter. All staff went out of their way to assist us when leaving and returning to the ship which was an enormous help. From the moment we stepped onto the ship until we left we were looked after in every possible way as expected on a luxury cruise. Our cabin, was large, well equipped with the cabin attendant maintaining it to the highest standard throughout. Dining was one sitting, with a wide choice at each meal. Guests in some cabins had the option to dine at Table la Rive and Portabellos once during the voyage both of which very enjoyable. There was also a cafe area providing snacks, cakes and ice cream all day as well as light lunches. All excursions were included and offered a wide choice - often with a small surprise element such as included wine and snacks, musical entertainment etc.. On a number of occasions additional entertainment was offered on board and included musicians, folk music and dancers, a wine lecture, a sand artist - all were of the highest quality and much enjoyed. The staff were understanding when we needed to consult a doctor, arranging English speaking taxi transport and appointment. Would you travel with Scenic again - definitely and recommend them Read Less

We did the river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest on the Scenic Jasper. Everything was wonderful! We loved the suite, the food, the entertainment, the exceptional service and the unforgettable all-inclusive experiences. There were live performances in various locations that were exclusive to Scenic and they are all very special memories. The crew were also very professional and their skills were put to the test, as heavy rain caused the rivers to rise but we kept on schedule and got under the bridges (just). The fact that Scenic has everything (first-rate) included in the price is so convenient. It means you can forget about the money and the currency converting and just enjoy yourself. We are certainly recommending to everybody to experience Scenic and this cruise in particular, as it was spectacularly picturesque. We were so impressed with the scenic service that we are looking into booking the Scenic cruise from Moscow to St. Petersberg in 2017. Read Less

My husband and I chose to repeat an Amsterdam to Budapest river cruise, but this time on a Scenic boat, because they offered different stops/excursions than the previously used company. I wish we had chosen Scenic the first time--this cruise was absolutely fabulous! I find it hard to identify anything negative about the company, the boat, the service; nothing at all was disappointing. First impression upon boarding the boat was unexpected--here's the Captain handing me a gorgeous long-stemmed rose and a warm welcome. Everyone working this boat, from Capt Igor; Capt Dan the Hotel Manager, Kurt the Cruise Director, Lt Michai the Restaurant Manager, Valerie our Butler, Milana our Steward, and all the others who worked to make our cruise memorable, were doing just that--working. On this boat the officers did not stand by and oversee--they were involved. Their commitment to service was observed every day; in their routines and in their responses to requests (and even response to an idle wish that was overheard). The excursions were great, and there were no short-cuts taken--guides were knowledgeable and tours often included tastings or entertainment. Our cabin was kept spotless, and Milana popped in several times a day to see if anything was wanted/needed. George, the chef, must have worked 24/7 because we've never seen so much food--it all was presented and tasted superbly--no reason for hunger on this boat! Another factor we liked was the price included everything: excursions, tips, beverages, everything. We highly recommend a Scenic river cruise; I'm doing some shopping now to find another one for us. Jewels of Europe We chose this cruise to see as much of Europe as we could as well as do a cruise. It met all our expectations and more, our only complaint was we were sometimes to exhausted to enjoy all that was on offer. Everything went like clock work in every aspect of the tour. The crew and staff were very friendly and helpful,And made the the cruise even better. History was the main focus of our trip, but as we are farmers a bit more of what the local areas grow would have been very interesting. The entertainment was second to none,a taste of all the different cultures. Also the fellow passengers were in our age group and very likeminded in their outlook. May was a great time to travel, not too hot,not too many queues and the rivers were still passable as the snow and rains had not effected them at that time. The buses that took us on the land part of our trip were very comfortable, drivers very helpful and good at there jobs.Sometimes the places they had to take the buses were unbelievable. We thoroughly recommend this tour. Read Less

Embarkation went very smooth as we were on board quickly after a 4 hour bus ride from Prague where we started our vacation. We received our room keys and were allow in the cabin immediately. Overall the cruise was great. The thing we enjoyed thoroughly were the excursions from the ship which were all included in the price of the cruise. We researched the excursions by reading reviews to pick the ones that fit our interests and offered the best value. We booked the lower cabin on the ship (below the water level) which turned out to be a mistake as the cabin was small (160 sq ft)) and the noise level from above (toilets flushing) and outside (propeller noise from passing ships) was overwhelming at times. Breakfast and lunch were OK because we had the same thing every day. Dinner was better as the menu changed every day. Dinner selection included beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian every night. I will say the portions at dinner were a little light on the main entrée which was disappointing. Cabin and bar service was great. Entertainment was pretty good as Scenic brought in local talent. We enjoyed the river cruise down the Danube with Scenic Tours. It is a good way to see the highlights of Prague, Nuremberg, Vienna and Budapest. Read Less

We chose Scenic because we had fun in Australia and of its inclusions. We liked the itinerary no that the ship was new. The experience was everything we hoped it would be. We stayed in a Royal balcony suite on the Diamond deck and it was worth every penny. We were treated like royalty, every staff person on the ship as helpful, friendly and courteous with a good attitude. We liked the streamlined contemporary decor. Loved the beds and bedding, loved having our laundry done. The food was good and sometimes excellent. The drinks were all included as were excursions and their tailor made gps devices. There was always a place to sit in the lounge even when the weather was chilly and no one wanted to be outdoors. If I was going to complain and this is picky, the name tags had pins, should have been magnets and there were no yoga mats in the gym. We would travel with Scenic again and give it our seal of approval! Read Less
