I've had the privilege of traveling throughout Europe over the years. These journeys typically involved extensive planning, such as: booking transportation, accommodation, and mapping out excursions and activities. Then, there’s the challenge of navigating transitions between towns; driving down narrow and unfamiliar streets (on the opposite side of the road in some countries); figuring out check ...
Off ship excursions included a variety of options. Locations, frequently requiring long bus rides were worthwhile, despite inclement October weather.Tour guides were pleasant, helpful, and well informed. Our cruise director was excellent and staff would go out of their way to provide cabs, directions, maps, and walking tour suggestions.
Highlights included visits to Giverny, D day beaches, and ...
Our cruise started in Bucharest, Romania, where we went on a four day tour of Transylvania before our cruise. this tour was very good and we highly recommend that people do this if you have the time. We visited some beautiful towns and castles in the mountainous centre of Romania. After returning to Bucharest, we joined the rest of the guests for dinner in the Marriott. The next day we were bussed ...
The cruse taken was the "Treasures of the Rhine" not "Danube Discovery" the ships were swooped over due to low water levels on the Danube, but the name of the ship is correct.
We have cruised with Scenic twice prior and have to say on both previous occasions the cruise, the ship and the staff were all excellent, hence why we had no reservations in booking with Scenic again.
On arrival at ...
Every evening meal was both to look forward to and to enjoy whilst in the restaurant : especially Portobello. Hard working , friendly and always approachable folk in the Restaurant ( one of us coeliac ) and really helpful Cruise Director and Assistant.
Lack of water in the Danube caused us to have two unexpected bus transfers , but well done and fabulous hotel in Budapest . All tour guides ...
Budapest to Amsterdam but we had to switch to the Opal in Nuremberg from the Emerald Sky due to low water. This was the first time the Scenic company had made such a switch upgrading the cruise. The Opal is a higher end ship compared to the Emerald Sky. More luxurious with larger rooms, a higher number of crew and different dining options. Our cruise director Dawn worked hard to arrange and ...
This was supposed to be a culinary cruise in one of the best wine region of the world. We were served ordinary food and cheap wines by unknowledgeable personnel. Even the cocktails were poorly executed.
We had an invited French chef on board for one dinner and it made all the difference from our roumanian chef.
It’s the end of the season and the dining room personnel seemed tired and ...
We recently completed a 15-day river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam on Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, and, well, some good and some bad. As to the bad, it likely put us off Scenic enough that we won’t cruise with them again.
This was not our first cruise, but it was our first river cruise. Realizing that river cruising differed from ocean cruising I watched a lot of videos, so got a pretty ...
We chose this cruise to round off our European river cruises collection with Scenic. This was cruise number eight for us and we have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. We were a bit spoilt by the first one as it was a cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam visiting several wonderful Christmas Markets along the way. The only thing missing was some festive snow. However, our cruise director came over ...
This would be our 4th cruise with Scenic and this time, to an area we'd not seen before. The trip down the Danube took us to seven different countries over 16 days, 5 of which we'd not seen before.
The river ports and inland sites we visited were interesting and the tour guides were great at giving background information and history of the city and country or the particular point of interest. ...
