Renovation Work/areas closed spoiling our holiday

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Scenic Eclipse II

What a beautiful ship, with top class chefs & customer service second to none. The choice and quality of food in the different restaurants was amazing. Our cabin was very comfortable and clean. However what ruined our holiday was renovation works on the decks for 11/19 of our holiday days. Outside areas were closed, there was distracting noise, workmen moving around the boat, dust and dirt, ...

Scenic Eclipse II - - disappointing

Review for a South America Cruise on Scenic Eclipse II

A very mixed experience. Our first Scenic cruise but we have been on more than a hundred cruises from the large ship to luxury and expedition cruises. The Scenic prior to cruise experience was unusual, sometime after booking Scenic sent an online medical questionnaire to be completed by your doctor which I did not wish to ask my doctor to do, on pushing back with Scenic, they seemed okay with ...

Don’t believe the advertising hype about luxury.

Mixed feeling about Scenic Cruises. We found the crew to be exceptionally nice, helpful, couldn’t do enough for you. But the ship itself is less than luxurious. We had a Grand Deluxe Veranda Suite which was very roomy but the bathroom had no sink, it was a shelf which made it impossible to properly wash and clean teeth. This was the number one thing that spoilt the cruise. Not really luxury ...

We were impressed by the delightful “pirates” of tiny Robinson Crusoe Island

We chose this cruise because Easter Island was on the agenda. We were very disappointed that weather made landing there impossible. Our stay in Santiago was above expectation and our excursion to the Andes was unforgettable. I love time at sea and never got bored as there were many events to keep us busy. We especially enjoyed the daily talks. The presenters were very knowledgeable and we ...

South Pacific Fun

We chose this particular cruise for the itinerary it offered. For the most part, it met our expectations. However, we were unable to disembark in Easter Island due to high swells (no docking there, so tenders are needed). I purchased the "Silver Beverage" package but often found that I had to "wave down" waiters to get a glass of wine/alcohol/etc whether we were on the pool deck or ...

PROS: Everything on ship was great, but the spa and fitness facilities were exceptional and surpassed any I've used on other cruises or on land. Pool under dome that could be closed depending on weather conditions. Talented entertainers, diverse and interesting educational presentations. All crew members provided outstanding and responsive service. Included WiFi worked most of the time and was ...

Chile to Australia leg of world cruise

Plenty to do, we brought books to read but didn’t need them. Although we did relax by taking advantage of the spa (massages and facial). The gym was set up very well (water, towels and staff). We filled our days at sea with the wonderful lectures and classes that aligned with the ports of destination. We also started a routine of a game of gin rummy and pre-dinner drink. The excursions we ...

Great relaxing and interesting cruise of the South Pacific

This was not a typical Vicing ocean cruise - it was the 30 day second leg of the round the world cruise, going from Valparaiso, Chile to Sidney, Australia. We chose it specifically to see Australia and New Zealand, and also Easter Island, all on our bucket list. There were only ~300 passengers booked on the entire round the world tour, and only ~400 additional who rode the second leg like us, so ...

I strongly recommend you to refrain from taking Viking Cruises

The main idea of my post is that I strongly recommend you to refrain from taking Viking Cruises. I was dreaming of a round-the-world cruise and decided to a 3-month journey with Viking Cruises. It turned out into a total disappointment. Beautiful website descriptions and vivid manager speeches have nothing to do with reality. I have huge experience in sea journeys and have traveled with almost ...

Elegant ship let down by the food

The itinerary appealed to me and the time of year was perfect. I was led to believe that Cunard were an upmarket company but several things were not up to standard. Having sailed on several ships with companies as diverse as Thompson, Fred Olsen, MSC, Royal Caribbean, P and O, Princess,Holland America and Azamara I would place Cunard somewhere in the middle. My cabin was fine with an amazing ...
