Machu Picchu Land Tour (NOT!) and Antarctica Cruise: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We are Platinum level Princess cruisers. We chose this cruise primarily for the itinerary which included a Land Tour to Machu Picchu followed by a cruise around Cape Horn and Antarctica. Unfortunately, that itinerary was in flux and cut back before and during the trip. We've written a long, detailed letter to Princess' Executive team. An abbreviated version follows, which I've called "The ...

Ports of call interesting. We havd never been to these countries on the Pacific side of South America.. Going this tome of year we expected, and received waem weather. Having sailed with Princess several times, with very positive results, we picked this itinerary. Being familiar with the Royal Princess, having sailed with her before, and having been told that she was refitted with new ...

We took this cruise because of the itinerary to Hawaii. Embarkation/ Disembarkation: Getting on was very easy and orderly due to the schedule given before hand. Did the self-disembarkation. Very good and no crowds. For those not sure about disembarkation: If taking the scheduled disembarkation, luggage must be out in the hallway at suppertime the night prior. Everyone must be out of their ...

We have always cruised with Princess and have not been to any of the ports on this cruises before. The wait stall was extremely delightful. The cabin steward was very attentive. The entertainment was great. Had a wide variety of entertainment which included singers, dancers, a juggler (which was hysterical), a hypnotist, great production shows, lectures and musicians. The ports were good, the ...

Wonderful everything except shore excursions in Chile and Mexico

Almost everything was wonderful on this cruise. Great ship, well maintained, easy embarkation, good food taste and selection, great balcony cabin layout and ship layout as on all Grand Class Princess ships. Shore excursions could have been better. I love Chile and Peru and have been there several times. The shore excursions in Chile were not thought out very well and overall were very ...

It’s not what you want to think about. But it is really important. Our 10 year old developed acute appendicitis in Nicuragua ( of all places ) the onboard medics did an amazing job and assisted us in getting our sick child to a hospital where she had surgery that night Their quick thinking and ability to make decesions quickly meant our doctor was diagnosed disembarked and taken to hospital ...

We had been living in in Chile for about 7 weeks and found this cruise. Actually cheaper than flying (before on-board stuff). Great leisurely way to get back to the states. Since we had been in Chile and have been to Costa Rica a few times and Nicaragua, we were not interested in excursions to I can't speak to any of those. This was our 4th sailing with Princess. Crew was always ...

we wanted to see south America, where we'd never been. From Santiago, not so much of interest near the coast, but all ports were good. Very dry desert. Lots of poor people everywhere. Some things I wanted to see over 2 hours from port, so not worth it for old people. found the guides everywhere were outstanding. The ship was very nice and well laid out. It had lots of sea days, so they were ...

Chose the cruise for the interesting ports that the ship visited. Cabin (suite) was very nice although the couch was a little worn. Ate in the Horizon Buffet which worked out well-took less time and allowed us to do more activities at night. Had a couple of nice dinners in the Crown Grill to celebrate anniversary and birthday occasions. Would have liked to see more educational lectures on the sea ...

My wife and I were looking for a follow-up cruise to our cruise of a lifetime aboard Oceania. Having cruised Princess a number of times we felt it would have good quality but in no way equal to Oceania. Boy were we disappointed. We were expecting a Pontiac and got a Chevrolet. It started with an 1-1/2 ride on a bus with seats that were very uncomfortable. When we got to port, the embarkation ...
