After hearing such great things about Viking cruises (having been on Holland America, Carnival, Royal Caribbean), my mom and I splurged on a Viking Ocean Cruise. It seemed great: trips included and nice ship. However, I would not recommend this cruise. My mom and I will be sticking with Holland America. I'll do Royal Caribbean with friends.

I have cruised many times on Celebrity, Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Of all the cruises this was the worst. Sad to say that the food on Carnival was better than the food on this ship. This was our first RCI cruise and we went as part of a group. The Jewel is a great sized ship with nice layout but a little past the point it should have been upgraded. RCI seems to do a lot to get more out of less, squeezing margins tighter to increase the bottom line. Our most recent cruise was the Oasis about 1 1/2 year ago. We have to say we were a little disappointed.
Pros:
The food was usual RC food. We had no problems with it and could always find something on the menu. The waiter waiter and assistant were excellent.
The room was clean and made up timely. One time we needed extra towels, I called housekeeping and they were there in 15 minutes.

The ship wAs clean all the time. The decor was interesting. If you have been on carnival before, you know the set up is the same.
