I had done many cruises but I really wanted to splurge on the Viking Cruise. I heard it was the best overall cruise line & the West Indies Explorer package really seemed to fit the bill for my husband & I. It was a special trip for many reasons but mainly to celebrate my retirement. The customer service while booking the cruise was great & even after Hurricanes Maria & Irma, we still decided to ...
It came along at a time we could go for a very good discount. My husband and I loved the smallness of the ship and the amount of people. The entertainment and cabin service were the best we have encountered. The food was very, very good especially in the Restaurant. Liked that wine and beer came with dinner. Our stateroom came with a mostly free mini-bar. But didn't always get restocked when it ...
The overall experience was really great. The crew was friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The ship was brand new and beautiful, with large and very elegant public areas. The public spaces were bright, clean, airy and un-crowded. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and all were unobstructed balcony rooms with twice a day service. Wine (or beer) was included with lunch and dinner. The ...
Overall this ship was amazing ---- so well designed and maintained. There is always someone cleaning, polishing, etc. Being the size it is it is easy to get about from fore to aft. We had only 700+ passengers so it was especially nice. The public rooms are just beautiful and since we were at see for 6 days there was plenty of time to enjoy them all.
The dining [food quality] was great, the best ...
Loved the fact that we were at sea for 8 days! Viking kept us busy. Weather was great so we sat out by the pool a lot. Guest lecturers were wonderful. My husband and I read three books and spent a lot of time meeting new friends. Service was fantastic. We loved the crew and the officers. This is our 3rd time on the Viking Star--always feels like we're "coming home." We had a Penthouse Jr. ...
Can't say enough nice about this ship, the crew and Viking in general. This is our fifth Viking cruise but our first Ocean. The ship is beautiful, just the right size (758 passengers on this transatlantic journey). Lots of sea days so it was relaxing. Met up with some folks through Cruise Critic the night before the voyage. Best thing we ever did as we had automatic friends the whole time. ...
Attractive pricing, wanted to try Viking and wanted to do an Atlantic Crossing. Viking ship size is ideal at around 930. Ship common areas are clean, very inviting and attractive. Some of the best in the industry. B Over ship accommodations are great and would highly recommend. Beer and wine offering at lunch and dinner are very nice and an added attractions over non all inclusive cruises. ...
I wanted to be able to say that I crossed the Atlantic by boat. We took the Grand European River Cruise with Viking in 2014 and we knew this cruise would also be very good. All cabins had a veranda, the cabin design and service was excellent. Entertainment during the cruise was very good, the daily lectures and evening shows were interesting and enjoyable. Dining was very good and the menu ...
We left from San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were among the group that flew in overnight, and Viking put us up in a hotel from about 6 AM to noon before transferring us to the ship. We really appreciated that. We did the Viking Homelands cruise on the Viking Sea with them last year, so we knew what to expect as far as the ship goes. It's just a beautiful ship, understated elegance everywhere in ...
We usually take the transatlantic cruises so, when we saw that Viking was offering one, we decided to try it. From the beginning, the cruise was fantastic. Embarkation was prompt with luggage taken at the pier and waiting in our room when we entered following lunch. We had a penthouse veranda room and it was larger than rooms we have had on other ships. The bathroom had heated floors and the ...
