West Indies Explorer Viking Ocean Cruise

Review for Viking Star to Caribbean - All

I had done many cruises but I really wanted to splurge on the Viking Cruise. I heard it was the best overall cruise line & the West Indies Explorer package really seemed to fit the bill for my husband & I. It was a special trip for many reasons but mainly to celebrate my retirement. The customer service while booking the cruise was great & even after Hurricanes Maria & Irma, we still decided to ...

Extraordinary crew

We never received a "no" answer from any crew member for any of our requests. Not even a "maybe". Only a "yes". We chose this cruise because the price was right and I was curious about Viking. Liked Manfredi's the best for food. Some of the dining room food was not as good. I think the chef is trying to be too creative. Cooking class was great. Yoga instructor was better than on other ...

Beautiful ship and great crew

Can't say enough nice about this ship, the crew and Viking in general. This is our fifth Viking cruise but our first Ocean. The ship is beautiful, just the right size (758 passengers on this transatlantic journey). Lots of sea days so it was relaxing. Met up with some folks through Cruise Critic the night before the voyage. Best thing we ever did as we had automatic friends the whole time. ...

Great Transatlantic Crossing

We left from San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were among the group that flew in overnight, and Viking put us up in a hotel from about 6 AM to noon before transferring us to the ship. We really appreciated that. We did the Viking Homelands cruise on the Viking Sea with them last year, so we knew what to expect as far as the ship goes. It's just a beautiful ship, understated elegance everywhere in ...

We Booked Again!

We usually take the transatlantic cruises so, when we saw that Viking was offering one, we decided to try it. From the beginning, the cruise was fantastic. Embarkation was prompt with luggage taken at the pier and waiting in our room when we entered following lunch. We had a penthouse veranda room and it was larger than rooms we have had on other ships. The bathroom had heated floors and the ...

Our First Trip on a Viking Ship

Review for Viking Star to Caribbean - All

--This Trip was taken as a result of a voucher issued by Viking to compensate in part for problems incurred on a River Cruise. At the suggestion of our Travel Agent and due to time constraints in using the Voucher, we chose this trip on the Viking Star. I rarely find the Embarkation and Debarkation smooth. This went fairly well. --The Ship was small next to many we have sailed but was well laid ...

8 Gorgeous Days at Sea!!

Loved the fact that we were at sea for 8 days! Viking kept us busy. Weather was great so we sat out by the pool a lot. Guest lecturers were wonderful. My husband and I read three books and spent a lot of time meeting new friends. Service was fantastic. We loved the crew and the officers. This is our 3rd time on the Viking Star--always feels like we're "coming home." We had a Penthouse Jr. ...

The best cruise ever, HOWEVER

Review for Viking Star to Caribbean - All

We had great expectations about this cruise from the reputation of Viking and the overall media advertising. However, there were some issues from the very start. We allowed Viking to arrange and book our flights. Major error on my part. Although the pricing was good, the itinerary was the worst. They could not have routed us in a more round about and long (time) way. I am sure it was all ...

New places to see and enjoy

We had never been to the places we visited. Viking gave us the high lights of the areas. We met knowledgeable people, saw so many wonderful places we had never experienced before. The crew and staff made traveling so easy, we got spoiled and had no worries. We celebrated my husband's birthday; They make it a super day. As they did when we had our 43 anniversary in Oct. on the same ship. They were ...

The Viking Star was elegant and beautiful with enriching details that made the voyage a special experience. Our penthouse veranda room was very comfortable. Viking understands the modern traveller -- free wireless, lots of outlets to charge devices in the rooms and interactive TV screen to keep us up to date on our schedules, options and lots of movies. Touches of luxury added to the enjoyable ...
