We sailed for 18 days from San Francisco to New York via the Panama Canal. Prior to the cruise we had a one day tour of Muir Woods and Sonoma, with lunch in Sonoma City - a lovely small town. We have sailed with Regent twice before, found it 6 star and hoped for the same but were sadly disappointed. Everything on board Mariner had a veneer of quality but not the depth. Apart from receiving a captain's broadcast at noon daily, no one actually saw him. Nor did ship's officers mingle or appear other than very briefly.
