We've always wanted to go to Alaska and out of the blue, got an Oceania brochure in the mail. With a couple RC cruises under our belts (which were fine), we decided to try a smaller, more upscale cruise line. Only criticism is that shore excursions seem significantly higher and those available elsewhere. We booked our own flight - United non-stop from Boston to San Francisco. I fly enough on United that I can reliably get Economy Plus seats w/extra legroom (nice!).

The Regatta is a beautiful ship with wonderful staff and great entertainers.
We left San Francisco and headed out to Victoria. We took our very first ever ship's tour to Butchart Gardens and it was beautiful. They just drop you off and pick you up and since we did not have a lot of time we thought the ship's tour would be best - it was great.
