We chose this cruise because it left from our home port and did a full transit of the Panama Canal. Both were highlights of the cruise and fantastic. We loved taking a taxi to the port and fortunately had been warned by the CC roll call that the pier information was incorrect. I contacted NCL 3 times the month before sailing asking them to correct the edocs, but it was never done. We expected ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to do a full transit of the Panama Canal. It left from San Francisco and sailed out under the Golden Gate Bridge, which was wonderful. We also enjoy "Fleet Week" activities by the Blue Angel Navy team while waiting to sail!
We had been on a previous cruise on Norwegian Sun and liked the intimacy of this smaller ship.
We decided to book and Oceanview ...
Always wanted to do a panama canal cruise. We were not disappointed.
It was hot and humid, so that limited our excursions. They couldn't guarantee an air conditioned bus, so didn't go on any tours, just went out to shops close to the ship.
Our first time cruising with NCL and it won't be our last. Inside cabin was larger than expected, bed very comfortable. Our steward was outstanding. ...
We selected an aft facing cabin for our Panama Canal transit, boarding in SFO. A great treat for us was to watch the Navy Blue Angles practice over the bay just before we left. That alone was worth the trip. Leaving SFO under the Golden Gate with picture perfect weather was a tremendous experience.
Some of the ports were pretty "why-even-get-off" the ship kind of stops - but we were mainly ...
I chose this cruise for the trip through the Canal plus having the experience of several ports that I was interested in seeing in Mexico, Costa Rica and Columbia. It was action packed with many activities onboard. Actually, too much to do - with overlapping activities that I wished I could take part in but didn't get a chance.
My steward was very attentive and helpful and I loved all those ...
Day 1 (Embarkation)
Well, we took a chance for the first time in 5 cruises and decided to fly into San Francisco on the same day as embarkation due to financial constraints and DH's inflexible job. We've never done it before and despite a flawless execution without flight delays or hitches of any kind, we won't do it again unless finances absolutely dictate the necessity. Flight was on time, we ...
What follows is a review of the Norwegian Sun on its Oct. 24-Nov.4th voyage from San Francisco to the Mexican Riviera. I must admit that after I read the reviews on this site dated Oct. 8th that I had some misgivings about having selected this cruise. Fortunately, I found a lot to like, tho we had a couple of significant perturbations.
We had two adjacent cabins booked, one of them for my ...
We decided to take a cruise to the Mexican Rivera on the Norwegian Sun when they offered a sale in Mid-Sept. We purchased our inside cabin for $499 per person plus tax/fees...a great deal for 11 nights. We also enjoyed the fact that since we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, we would not have to fly to meet the ship..a big plus. We sailed previously on NCL in 1990 on the former Seaward in the ...
Norwegian Sun cruise 12-23 Oct 2009 Mexico Riviera round trip from San Francisco. Mini-Suite Class AE Cabin 1213 11th Deck
Background We travel a lot but this is only our 3rd cruise. The others cruises were the Queen Elizabeth 2 Boston to Southampton (Oct 2001) and the Carnival Elation San Diego- Mexico (July 2008) with our kids and grandkids. We are in our mid 60's which is probably ...
Day One My DW and I live in San Francisco, so it was a breeze to get to the Norwegian Sun, docked at Pier 35. We left the house at 10:45 and were dropped off by 11:30, very heavy traffic on King Street because it was the final home game of the Giants, and of course traffic was heavy as we got closer to the pier. The weather was perfect, must have been in the 80"s, I was expecting it to be cool, ...
