My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Catamaran Resort and Spa in San Diego prior to our sailing. The hotel was nice. It's located in the Mission Bay area of San Diego, about 20 minutes from the pier. San Diego is a wonderful city, we absolutely loved everything about it and hope to return there someday.

Embarkation at San Diego was quick and easy and it's worth mentioning that we stayed at the Holiday Inn just across the road from the cruise terminal which was amazingly convenient.
The cabin (stateroom) and bathroom were clean and showed almost no sign of wear and tear.

Cabin: The cabin was much better laid out and had more storage than the same category on Princess last year. Unfortunately, the toilet stopped working twice, right after morning coffee. We called maintenance and after 45 minutes went upstairs for relieve. The steward did an excellent job and we never had to request ice. Recently returned from an eleven night Mexican Riviera cruise on the RCI Radiance. This was our fifth cruise with RCI and we were shocked at the condition of the ship. Embarkation was a breeze. Stayed at the Comfort Inn Airport near Old Town. Took their shuttle to port and left luggage for a porter. Walked right through and was aboard by 11:30 AM.
We have been cruising on Celebrity for the last 7 years or so, but went with Royal Caribbean because Celebrity not offering anything with this itinerary. Definitely a step down.

We arrived 3 days before the cruise so we could take our 3 year old to Disney and Sea World. We also took in the Midway. Three jam packed days but all worth it.
