I read a lot of negative reviews on the Diamond Princess recently, so I went into this cruise with managed expectations. That being said, I had an amazing cruise with very little criticism.
This was a 7-night Mexican Riviera cruise to Loreto, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. Our Loreto port was canceled due to high winds, so we rerouted to Mazatlán for our first stop.
SHIP REVIEW:

I typically cruise with Celebrity and enjoy it, but saw this cruise with Princess out of San Diego and decided to give them a try, since I have heard that their service is comparable to Celebrity in many ways. With that said, I could not be more underwhelmed with this experience, especially after reading so many positive reviews about Princess and this ship prior to embarking on my ...
I went on this cruise as a precursor to going on the Grand Princess to Alaska. I am taking some friends with us to Alaska and wanted to see how these older ships compare to the newest ones, and the Diamond happens be in the older category. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well maintained the Diamond is. My last Princess cruise was on the Royal 3 years ago and though it was one of the newer ...
The Diamond Princess is a very beautiful ship with a wonderful crew. It should never have been subjected to the ‘scourge’ of the Medallion No Class App.
Embarkation: Below standard. Packed waiting in long poorly organized lines. Although we were unable to enter or get boarding times on their app., others said it made no difference. ‘Ocean Ready’ really?
Crew: Fantastic as always. ...
I got a good deal for Mexico cruise so thought why not? I had sailed with HAL and Celebrity several times so have some frame of reference.
The Bad: the dining experience was awful, we struggled to get reservations each night which wouldn't have been an issue but for the fact that the buffet/market (whatever they call it) was so dismal. The food at this place really was on a par with cafeteria ...
We chose this particular voyage to sail out of San Diego (first time) and escape the winter cold to Hawaii.
Having been on 16 prior Princess ships, we had learned to expect the normal of "Princess perfect" for this voyage, also. Alas, this wasn't to be the case.
Embarkation: Both the Diamond Princess and Disney Wonder were simultaneously in port. We discovered that the Port of San Diego is ...
We choose this particular cruise to Hawaii for the itinerary, after trying for the past two years to sail there and being cancelled due to Covid restrictions. While the sail was not a disaster sailing out of San Diego is a disaster. While being issued a boarding time by Princess an d arriving g a the scheduled time we waited 1 hour in line to drop off our luggage and then another 1 1/2 hours to go ...
We chose this San Diego round-trip cruise to avoid plane flights and because we enjoy Hawaii. First, boarding the cruise in San Diego too over two hours because of the Port Authority inability to expedite boarding,. Second, all the Specialty restaurants were closed for half the voyage because of staffing shortages (per maitre d'). The food offerings in the Main Dining room and especially on the ...
We took Mexican Riviera cruise with Diamond Princess last December. Unfortunately, we didn't have a good time with them. First, we got Covid on the boat and were isolated for the rest of our 4 days cruise. On the disembarkation in San Diego, we had to wait for a long time and we understood because we didn't want other passengers were contracted with Covid but they put and gathered us at last in ...
I chose this cruise for the itinerary and was worried about the ship as it just came back in service. There are only about a 1000 passengers for a ship.that holds 2700. My first impression was Blah and after 10 days my impression hasn’t changed. The cabins are comfortable, with soft comfortable beds. The shower is small. The room steward excellent. The entertainment is poor, but princess ships ...
