We had previously been on Scenic River cruises and were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of the trip. It was a true 5-star experience so we had high expectations for this ocean cruise. The ship can accommodate 200 passengers. On this cruise from San Diego to Vancouver, only 128 guests were aboard. Think about the food this way: You will enjoy it if you liked what they served in your high school cafeteria! We did not enjoy the specialty restaurants either (we did Le Bistro and the “Brazilian Steakhouse”). The main dining room was only OK on a couple of nights. The Chin-Chin restaurant was horrible. We lost 2 cruises due to Covid and this was our choice to use our FFC.
Embarkation was a mess. We were delayed one hour in the sun, on the pier in San Diego, several passengers were affected by the heat and required the assistance of others in line, there was no Holland America presence to offer them assistance.
We found the crew to be pleasant and friendly.

I sailed on this ship with the same itinerary in November, 2021 and we loved it. So, we decided to do it again on the November 5, 2022 sailing. BIG MISTAKE! So we are on a California Coast cruise. Neptune Suite. Have not been on a HAL for 3 years. A lot has changed. New rooms and refreshed ship. That’s nice. We have travel on Celebrity for 24 years...3 times on the Millennium. Due to Covid and a new staff of workers, the Customer Service was awful. We couldn't get WI-FI to work consistently the TV had hardly any stations and it only worked when we were at sea.....2 movie channels, ESPN1 and 2 MSNBC, BBC, BBC1, Cartoons, RedBull channel, Fox news and CNN. Waited 2 years for return of 25% of monies taken by HAL on the same cruise that was cancelled before covid.
Embarkation was hectic as 3 ships were in port at San Diego, however the ship was very clean and the crew were excellent our balcony cabin was nice and stewards were very friendly.
