Loved Koningsdam

It was our 5th cruise on Holland. We had been sailing Royal since pandemic, but got a casino offer from Holland. We've always enjoyed Holland and this gave us a chance to get our foot in the door. We booked Club Orange and were not disappointed. Booked Have It All, probably not do in future, we get drinks in casino. We were worried after posts said drinks were only for 1 person, but they were ...

My wife and I are 3 stars with HAL and we booked this cruise earlier this year as short nice vacation by ourselves. We booked an aft facing veranda on deck 6 with Club Orange added and the standard HIA. This is our first cruise on a Pinnacle class ship. We flew from our home in San Antonio to San Diego on Nov 3rd and spent the night at the Embassy Suites on the bay very close to the cruise port ...

Really BAD Food, NCL Theme is “SELL, SELL, SELL”

Think about the food this way: You will enjoy it if you liked what they served in your high school cafeteria! We did not enjoy the specialty restaurants either (we did Le Bistro and the “Brazilian Steakhouse”). The main dining room was only OK on a couple of nights. The Chin-Chin restaurant was horrible. Not a shrimp to be found on this ship. Smoked salmon? An extinct species. ...

We've sailed on many HAL ships over the years and have to say we'll never sail again on the Konigsdam. Although the food was excellent, they've cut service to the point that hour waits for dinner were normal. Waiters and staff were obviously stressed and had too many tables to serve. I actually had to go to the assistant maître d' to get a coffee cup refilled at breakfast. No chocolates on the ...

We lost 2 cruises due to Covid and this was our choice to use our FFC. Embarkation was a mess. We were delayed one hour in the sun, on the pier in San Diego, several passengers were affected by the heat and required the assistance of others in line, there was no Holland America presence to offer them assistance. We found the crew to be pleasant and friendly. Menu items in the main dining ...

I sailed on this ship with the same itinerary in November, 2021 and we loved it. So, we decided to do it again on the November 5, 2022 sailing. BIG MISTAKE! Embarkation on day 1 was one hour behind schedule. We had to wait in line in the very warm sun with no shade. We were supposed to depart San Diego at 4pm. We finally made it out of the harbor at 6:30pm. Again, I don't know why we were ...

Not the experience you would expect from the past.

So we are on a California Coast cruise. Neptune Suite. Have not been on a HAL for 3 years. A lot has changed. New rooms and refreshed ship. That’s nice. No crowded on deck initial safety muster drill. Replaced by scanning your room card at your muster stations. Easier. If you do the Neptune Suite expecting the usual priority boarding, disembarkation, usual exclusive perks, full food selection of a ...

Too many passengers &/or too few experienced crew

After having itineraries to Istanbul changed two years in a row, we had ‘some’ cruise credit expiring. The pacific coast cruise seemed like a remedy & we’ve never been on the Koningsdam. Perhaps the larger ship just isn’t for us. The crew seemed to be training while this ship sailed which resulted in inefficiency. Particularly popular food items frequently became unavailable. Long lines & ...

No STARS for the $$$ Royal Suite

We paid a lot for this cruise expecting a truly great experience (Royal Suite). What we received was abysmal! Beginning with embarkation - we had to wait forever to get through the line (but should have been able to bypass it because we were 'suite' passengers. See below for ratings of our suite... The food in the designating dining room was good (Luminae) but the service was very, very slow. Food ...
