Ok so here is the deal, I had a witty, detailed review or our 4 day cruise on the Carnival Paradise. However, my computer ate it. And I do mean ate it, neither auto back-up nor auto restore saved the day, Poof, it was gone. I can take a hint, so....... I'll try again and attempt to be more brief. About the Paradise, we LOVED HER She was clean and the crew friendly. The dining room food was quite good. Ok, so a couple of the offerings were ho-hum, but the other choices made up for it. We also had breakfast and lunch in the dinning room twice and it was great. The buffet, well, it was, a buffet, we avoid them, and this one did not change out minds on such. I have low expectations on any buffet and this one did not disappoint. Average at best, not horrible, but not great. Room service however was quite nice. Fast and the food was tasty. We were pleased. Speaking of rooms, we loved ours. Inside on the Upper deck, one of the "sideways" cabins. The A/C worked wonderfully. You could hang meat in it with it running wide open. The room was very clean and the service from the room steward was outstanding. (Yes, we got towel animals daily) The bathroom and shower was surprisingly large, clean, with strong water pressure and what seemed to be endless hot water. No mold or gunk on the tile and the shower curtain was clean. (A big pet peeve of mine, I detest a dirty shower curtain) THE BEDS! WONDERFUL! OUTSTANDING, DELIGHTFUL, better then some first rate hotels I have stayed at over the years. Unlike some fine hotels, the top cover is changed out each turn-around, so the bedding is fresh top to bottom when you arrive. The mattress, bedding/linen, pillows, all are fantastic. Very impressive. Sure, she is showing her years. I did the quick math and she has had some 5+ million passenger days on her since she first set sail. (2000 X 365 X 8) So a little wear and tear is not only reasonable but should be expected. I think she is holding up just fine and the crew from what we saw is working hard to keep her clean and presentable. Just for the record, we saw tables being cleared off, and wiped down in the buffet, and hand-rails being cleaned and wiped down all over the ship. (Contrary to what others have reported) When time is taken to polish the brass stair edge trim on each stair on the outdoor stage on the lido deck, I call that some pretty good attention to detail. Are there some "improvement opportunities"? Yes there are. The life jackets are a bit grimy and the drill seemed to take forever and felt disorganized. Some of the windows could use some cleaning as well. The deck chairs although not dirty (I saw them being power washed late one evening) they have been used hard and have seen better days. There could be better signage some forward and aft signs would help. Embarkation was long, we must have arrived at rush hour. We self-disembarked and it went fast and smooth. I did say I would try to be brief, so I'll wrap up with, would we sail on the Paradise again? You bet'cha, in a heartbeat! If she is typical of a Carnival Fantasy class ship, we would have no qualms with sailing on any of her sisters. In fact, we have already booked on the Elation and I am biting hard at the bit to book on the Paradise again this year. A final thought, the average age was about 30. A good mix. Few young children,20-30 total, a few teens, and a few well aged older folk. Mostly though, it was couples 25-50. Talking with the crew, I was told the 4 day is different from the 3 day cruise. The 4 day is more mellow, people having a great time but not so much of the drink until you puke crowd. The 3 day is far more over the top drinking and asinine behavior. Oh and one last thing, the "Kiss on the Lips" is yummy! (Although I always ended up with a male bartender when I ordered it and felt a bit silly) Read Less
