This was our first cruise with Saga.
Door to door service was excellent, the driver telephoned the day before our outward journey to confirm pick up time, he arrived on time and with a short service station stop we soon arrived at Portsmouth. Check in was quick and efficient, short ride on shuttle bus to ship, slight blip with gangway and tide but we soon boarded.
We were shown to cabin ...
Last month we took our second Saga Cruise on Spirit of Discovery.
It was not meant to be because we had originally booked to sail on the third voyage of the new Oceania Vista to celebrate our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. But when we were on our first Saga cruise last August we were told that Vista would be late being delivered and our cruise for May 2023 was cancelled. My wife looked ...
This was our first cruise with Saga, having only done one other cruise on the Queen of Elizabeth to Norway nearly 3 years ago. Once we had navigated through the covid tests the welcome aboard was excellent with a crew member showing us to our cabin. We had booked a standard cabin on D deck which was fine although we could have done with more drawer space. The stewardess who looked after some of ...
We chose the cruise to try out the newish Saga vessel for a cruise to the Med in good weather with several interesting ports of call all of which the cruise provided. While the crew, food wine were excellent the experience was badly let down by the fact that the open aft decks were for much of the time filthy with greasy black soot spots. It didn't seem to matter what the wind direction /speed the ...
We had sailed with Saga apprx 10 years ago and then went onto other bigger cruise ships, but decided to return to a smaller ship. (No casino and no kids) Saga were exceptionally well organised throughout our pre embarkation. Always keeping us informed and constantly updating us especially on their Covid protocol. Saga offered us free chauffeur, free insurance, all inclusive (yes alright i know it ...
This 2 week cruise down the French/Spanish/Portuguese coast was an excellent way to get back into cruising. It was our 7th Saga cruise and the second on the new Saga ships. As usual, we were picked up from home and , on this occasion, taken to Tilbury docks. The embarkation procedure was somewhat chaotic with too many taxis arriving at the same time. Coupled with the requirement for 2 COVID tests, ...
We were disappointed that our embarkation was delayed, the transport was great and we got straight on the ship as they made such a mess of our start, lifeboat drill was put back to 10 pm, so we basically lost our first day on board
We were then told we would not be doing an overnight in Madeira and the whole cruise cut short by a day as the ship needed yet another deep clean they not seem to ...
Initially my husband and I were very impressed with the interior of this modern ship.
Cabins are a good size with fruit, carton of milk, water etc in cabin. Room service excellent. Service round the ship also excellent. Dining was somewhat chaotic at times. We were given wrong meals on more than one occasion, two soups one night. Long queues at times for the buffet at breakfast and lunch. ...
Having cruised with Saga before (on Saga Pearl 2) we were keen to try Spirit of Discovery. We chose a Canaries cruise for some winter sun and weren’t disappointed. Warm and sunny from Madeira to all 4 stops in the Canaries. The cabins, all with a balcony, are of good size, minor issues regarding room for shoes and draw space but no real problem for two people for two weeks. All the restaurants ...
