The cabins were beautiful with a lot of amenities. I loved the heated towels and fresh flowers among many other delightful amenities. Breakfast and lunch were buffets .They were both really good especially the lunch. The lunches were the best I ever had on all of my 26 cruises of many cruise lines.I have to say dinner is just okay, but the desserts were wonderful!! our tours were very good some days we were able to do more than one tour..when Uniworld says all inclusive they are not kidding...free WiFi fee alcohol as much as you want whenever you want it.specialty coffee included cookies and candies out 24 7 Transfers well organized. The entertainment at night is rather boring and the gym is terrible. I never saw a gym so small.. I did like that they offered free washer and dryer services.they even provided laundry detergent. The movie theater was nice to offering 3 differnt movies everyday. it was really a great cruise. They just need some better entertainment and a better gym. We choose this ship as we thought it was the top in this venue. We looked forward to cruising the Rhine. We were in the largest cabin. First thing we noticed was the paint finish rubbed off the door. A couple of spots on the upholstery...oh-oh. The bathroom looked newly refurbished. It was difficult to find storage space but once we unpacked we went to look around. Our 2 butlers were great and very accommodating, also was our steward. The room was kept very clean. Unfortunately this suite is pummeled with the sound of people going up and down the stair to the upper deck. After 2 days of constant motion above we would have gladly gone to a smaller accommodation!! This is something I don't think is fixable..Food was very disappointing. Finding a table difficult and no tables for deuces. After this cruise we realized that this type of cruise was not for us. Read Less

Items that needed improvement: 1. The on-board musicians (husband and wife) were not of high quality. Most passengers did not enjoy. On 2 separate nites, local musicians performed and they were excellent. 2. While on ship, more activities should have been organized such as trivia contests, in depth history mini lectures, etc. 3. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were barely warm 4. The Airport Hotel in Basel was the site of Uniworld bus pickup on Sat., July 1. When hotel front desk staff was asked to confirm that Uniworld buses were coming, they had no knowledge of this. We were very worried and concerned that we were at the wrong hotel. The communication between Uniworld and the hotel was unacceptable. Also, the hotel failed to send their free shuttle to pick us up at airport. We had to over pay, $28, for a very short taxi ride. 5. WiFi on the ship, Antoinette, was mostly poor in rooms and mediocre in common areas. Items that were great: food, service, butlers, wait staff, excursions Read Less

Service excellent:, staff friendly, helpful, professional the BEST i have ever seen on any cruise, and i have been on many. The decor is tired , out of date, and needs repair and replacing. Food average certainly not worthy of the premium cost of this cruise. The dining room noisy and very dated. The upstairs casual dining room if very uncomfortable. Tile floors, no window covering metal chairs very poorly appointed. After you leave the lobby it's downhill. I was surprised with the up-charge for some superior grade drinks. Entertainment was average at best. NO activities other than day tours offered. The general opinion was not enough free time in some areas while other areas could have been omitted because they lacked interest or charm. I beleive when paying a premium price for a cruise all the blocks checked should be excellent. The borchure. advertising pics should be updated to include the not so great common areas Read Less

First time river-cruiser and I researched the top 6 river cruises for weeks. Not sure how I got to the SS Antoinette, but it was absolute perfection and exceeded all of my high expectations. The Captain, the Cruise Manager, the front desk staff, and the housekeeping staff could not have done a finer job. I don't know my next river cruise itinerary, but it will likely be back on the SS Antoinette, but if not that super-ship, it will definitely be with a UniWorld ship. Already looking at Christmas river cruises for this year's season. The food was top notch, and if you didn't want to choose from the nightly selections, you always had backup selections. Every single aspect of the food and wait staff was impeccable, and they were not happy until they knew your were happy! Our Cruise Manager, Rik from the Netherlands was possibly the best in the industry. We all waited with excitement for his 6:45 daily ship notes, always done with a great sense of humor. He was pretty captivating to all of us. As I said before, I don't know where you look after having the best experience possible. Read Less

The SS Antoinette was a beautiful ship and the personal service was so impressive. We stayed on the upper deck with a balcony that had an automatic window that we loved to open and watch the river go by at night. The staff on board quickly learned our names and our favorite cocktails each day. We arrived thinking that the two of us just wanted to spend our 25th anniversary alone because we have three children and lead hectic lives, but you quickly meet new friends and enjoy their company! I will say we definitely were on the younger side of this cruise (I'm 49 and my husband is 50) but we met some great people. I did feel that I missed information on the next day's excursions, maybe because I am a cruise newbie. The more seasoned cruisers on the ship would coach me along on how things work on ships. The staff was so wonderful but they do seem overworked, amazing how each of them all help with every part of the ships daily runnings. We loved the Leopard Bar and had a great guitar player at night who would play any request and we would all sing along, so fun and the bartenders were awesome too! Our room was very nice and comfortable as well as the bathroom, small but nice. The excursions were always informative and we always had a great time (my favorite was Heidelberg and the Castle Vollard, didn't really enjoy the vinegar tasting) . The week went by so quickly!! After reviewing several other river cruise lines, we chose Uniworld because it included gratuities and drinks; the cabin size was slightly bigger than other lines; and this cruise offered the areas of Europe we wanted to see and it did not disappoint. The service was outstanding on all phases of the cruise. The food was terrific with plenty of it. The crew from the captain to the cabin attendants, could not do enough for you. The nightly entertainment was average but okay for this type of cruise. The daily tours and side trips were excellent and offered something for everyone's interests. The tours were a little more uneven (inclines and small hills) than we had anticipated but we managed and were not left behind when with a group. Although Uniworld was a little more expensive than other cruise lines, the extra cost was well worth the money. We would highly recommend Uniworld to anyone...especially the S.S. Antoinette. Both the pre- and post- city packages were cancelled due to lack of sign-ups. Both packages were in 5 star hotels and therefore, were very expensive. You can do just as well booking your own rooms at the same hotels or other 4 & 5 star hotels at half the cost. Read Less

My partner researches to death! And this cruise came out way ahead... ss Antoinette The real thing was every bit as good as expected and the staff made it even better...! The atmosphere was relaxed throughout.. though there were many things to keep you busy should you be so inclined.. The ship was well appointed and equipped and the swimming pool was lovely, especially as we saw no one else in it... OUR private pool was kept immaculate by regular checking by staff... never quite made it to the gym... though the leopard bar and its great barman vinny was a regular base... Our cabin was kept sharp by the excellent cleaning staff ...who were very helpful and friendly... Our dining was made particularly special by staff who were mature enough to engage in some good banter.. and the boss there was brilliant.. the ship manager was a great presence without being obtrusive .... a lovely guy... as was the excursions manager.. We were planning a next excursion with our friends after the first day... An excellent experience and great fun! Read Less

all inclusive. good report from our travel agent. the ports were nice. the guided tours were all set up and run efficiently the tour director (can't remember his name.) he was very efficient. the captain was very courteous. the food selection was good. most of the entertainment was good also. we enjoyed the scenery and seeing all the castles. getting to and from the airport was also well handled. overall everything was really good. the weather worked out well. they told us to bring clothes for colder weather but we were in the 60s and low 70s on a couple of days. we only had a little rain on the last day sailing to amsterdam. we enjoyed sitting on the deck up top when the weather was good. the dining room was always neat and clean. our suite was always perfect. daniella always kept it up so we never had to be inconvenienced. Excellent service. Breathtaking Christmas markets in Germany, France, and Switzerland. Extension in Basel and Lucerne were well worth the time and expense, also. Ship staff was excellent. Pickup and departures went smoothly. Our head waiter, Goran, was superb. Front desk as well as soon staff very responsive. Our tour direction, Polina, was very informative and worked to be flexible to meet our group's requests. Cabin. and ship was decorated for the holiday season and was tastefully done. Food choices were excellent and varied widely. Numerous options were made to peak our interests, with most covered at no extra expenses. Weather was cold, as expected, but still all trips were still made, even when the port was needed to be changed on one of our stops. The Captain and Hotel Manager were gracious hosts. This is our second Uniworld trip, and plan to take another soon. Uniworld is a great choice that we highly recommend. Read Less
