5 Star Service with 1 Star Food

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Ruby Princess

We're Elite with Princess, Club/Reserve Mini Suite Level and sail with them 2-3 times a year and just returned from a 7 day Calif Costal Cruise. I have no problem rating Guest Service at 5 Stars throughout this cruise and our 2 previous cruises in 2022. Despite having access to the Club/Reserve Dinning Room, we've noticed that since the Covid reopening Princess's food quality and variety has ...

Getting Covid on the Ruby Princess Northwest Pacific Coast Cruise April 23-30, 2022

Covid on Ruby Princess

May 4, 2022 Walter Princess Cruise Survey: The cruise was overbooked with too many passengers and not enough crew. There was utter chaos when people had to stand in long lines to get food for lunch and were bunched up close together. There was no social distancing in the long lines. There is too much Covid on these ships among the staff (even entertainers and engineering crew). How is it ...

Princess has relaxed their Covid protocols in the past 2 months, with predictable results. We cruised on the Ruby to Hawaii in February. In addition to requiring a negative test taken within 48 hours of boarding, they also did a rapid test on ALL passengers at the pier before boarding. Passengers were again tested a few days into the cruise. On the ship, social distancing was maintained with ...

Tested positive for COVID right after cruise!

Ruby was marginal at best. Buffet food is very average and desserts at dinner are so boring and tasteless. They go for colorful and creative looking deserts with no real substance or taste. Many of the staff have no clue about what food they are serving and service is spotty. The embarkation process was not done according to groups like it is intended to be. No one checked or asked about my group. ...

We wanted to go to Canada and this seemed like a good approach. The ship was in good condition. Food was ok. Buffet is split into two adjacent sections and it was a challenge to find seating a couple of times. The setup for the Lotus pool was bizarre. You can see it from the hallway in Lotus Spa but the doors are kept locked. I wanted to use the hot tub beside the pool and I asked the hostess ...

Great ports, mediocre food

We needed a quick get away and enjoy SF, Monterey and San Diego. Hadn’t been on Princess in a while. We found the entertainment to be pretty good, comedy was clean and the magic show excellent. There were a couple of excellent food courses but with a few exceptions the food is average at best and dreadful at worst. We went to Curtis Stone’s restaurant Share, some of the food was really ...

Beautiful coastal cuise. Cabins are bigger than average with a refrigerater within. Ice brought 2x a day. Ruby Princess was overrated though. Of course no cruise is a bad cruise but from all the recommendations from my friends (for Princess) I was expecting a lot more! Older ship- mediocre food- mediocre entertainment- bar service great- restaurant service great. Food nothing special. ...

Blah food and terrible excursions

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Ruby Princess

The food was very repetitive with little variety. All meat was touch and stringy. The excursions were terrible as far as getting dumped off at locations (Ensenada in particular) where we spent 1 1/2 hours at a dusty, dirty Mexican flea market. We chose Princess because of the itinerary and we had never gone with them. This was the first and last. I hate to say it but Carnival had ...

Just returned home from a seven day California Coastal cruise on Ruby Princess. Many pros and cons with ship, but most cons lay with Princess Cruises themselves. We are 63 + cruises into our lives, 14 of those with Princess. We have enjoyed many things with Princess through the years, but unfortunately, the amounts of staff reductions and food quality, make it difficult to sail again. Full ...

Disappointed

This was our 4th Princess Cruise. We chose the cruise for the itinerary. Could not fault embarkation, the time for when cabin was ready. The balcony cabin on Rivereria deck was good. We were disappointed to find there were no wine packages which we had previously purchased on Princess Cruises. We found that the drink packages per couple were extortionate, no way we would drink the amount as ...
