Where do I begin, off the ship was awesome, but coming back on was a huge let down. Bars were way understaffed and I fell bad for those who paid for drink packages. I would have to wait about 20 mins just to get a coke. When you would sit down to dine the wait for a drink would be worse, almost finished when the drink would arrive. Cabin looked old and outdated. The view was great though. Dining- Be prepared to pay extra for dining if you want a good meal. The specialty restaurants were great. Regular dining had no flavor but service was good. Buffets were the same all the time, they just changed the sauce that it was prepared with (LOL0 Hope you like pork! Entertainment- Shows were ok, have seen better on other cruise lines. Magician was horrible my son could do better than him. Comedy was great first nite, his second was basically a repeat of his first (Which was made to sound like it was going to be a special treat). Trying to get a drink was a joke because not enough staff. Crew shows were ok, they did their best. It might sound like all I can do is complain but this cruise ship was such a let down, every-time you got around the other guest after 2 days all you would hear is complaining of how horrible the service was, I am sure I am not the only one giving this cruise a bad review. I work hard for my money and expect great service when we go on vacation. Chose another cruise line and have a great time. If you do chose this line be prepared to spend extra for great food and bring your own alcohol !!!!! Read Less

Fitted our timeline. This cruise line is so tight. The food is terrible. The ship needs to be scuttled. The entertainment was extremely amateurish. The cruise director is the worst try hard we have ever encountered he should be fired. But the worst thing about this cruise is the food, it is disgusting. The tequila hacienda, tiles shopping tour is a con, you are taken to 3 stores so the tour people can earn some extra funds, joyously waste 1.5 hours and then are rushed at the tequila tour. The tour group appear to own the tequila place as well. This whole tour is a waist of money, do something else. The wind up at the end was all angled for a big tip as they are so poor. DO NOT DO THIS TOUR. Overall this cruise is the worst we have done, poor timing for ports, Cabo should be the longest but it was the shortest. I read lots of reviews and no feel some people who write great reviews must have been on a different ship.Never choose princess they are the worst and tightest cruise line ever. Read Less

I recently booked a vacation on the Ruby Princess and used a travel agent for the booking, our travel agent assured/guaranteed Princess Cruises will do everything to accommodate special diets, this was not the case. Our Travel agent told us that they sent Princess a list of our dietary requirements including the various foods items required. At our first dinner sitting there were no Vegan options on the menu and in speaking with the service staff we were informed that the only vegan protein they had available was Tofu. One of my biggest concerns in arranging the booking was that Vegan meals would be provided and there would be a variety of choice, I was extremely dismayed to find that there were no vegan options on any of the menus including the dining room. Further, the only protein source they had available on the ship was Tofu. It is my expectation that when I make a specific request for a Vegan Menu that this be provided. The Anytime Dining and the Buffet did not provide the ingredient list for their prepared items and there was no indication if the various dishes were Vegan or not. I would expect to have available meals that are prepared using organics, healthy oils, no refined sugars, etc. Vegan ingredients for the most part are easy to find and not expensive, alternative protein sources include Tofu, Beans, Lentils, Quinoa, Kale, Hemp Seed, and Chickpeas. As a result of the limited menu, I ended up with essentially the same meals each day, not what I was expecting. Why are there no Vegan dishes on the menu? Quinoa Salad, Chickpea salads, Kale Salads, Bean Salads, Lentil dishes, Chia Pudding, is often available in most restaurants as entrées, why would Princess not also have these available? Customer service by the staff on board the ship was exceptional, if Princess educated their chef and kitchen staff on how to prepare tofu entrées with flavor, quinoa salads, bean & lentil entrees they would open doors to customers that have special need diets as well as ones that choose to eat clean. Vegan entrees should be included on the menu. As well, this could enhance the wonderful vegetable & fruit salads in the buffet. I also would like to comment on the excessive number of sales pitches onboard the Princess, so many talks etc. were just there to sell a product and this was especially true of the fitness center. As an example one of the trainers presented on how to get flatter abs, with the comment that 50% is from Diet and Exercise and the other 50% from a detox product which they would be happy to have you purchase on a monthly subscription. They also stated that we all know about diet and exercise so he would not comment on this. I found this presentation particularly offensive as this information is just not true. There are absolutely no scientific studies that have shown a detox product to specifically result in a flatter abs. Flatter abs will come from diet and exercise alone and the assumption that everyone knows about diet and exercise is also wrong. I am very well educated in diet and fitness and yet know I still have much to learn and any information on this is always welcome. I also booked the Chileno Bay Sail and Snorkel in Cabo San Lucas and was under the impression that we would have 40 minutes of snorkeling time, at best only 15 minutes of snorkeling time was provided. The host were very good, but quite disappointing to have booked a snorkeling adventure and then only have such a limited time in the water. Much of the time was spent watching whales, which is fantastic, but this was a snorkeling excursion not a whale watching one. This was my first time on a cruise ship and I have to say I was quite disappointed with the level of food service provided. Read Less

Bathroom Shower did not drain Shower leaked – had to put towels on floor daily to catch water from running on floor Only one AC wall plus marked for “shaver only” Wall plug would not accept standard American plug of my water pic. We requested extension cord and were told we had to “pre-order” one. We had to brush our teeth in the wet bar sink Dead flower for four days in bathroom Balcony If this ship was refurbished in 2015 why was there: Rust and paint peeling on balcony ceiling (see picture) Sea gull deposits on furniture (see picture) Asked cabin steward to notify cabin next door balcony light had been left on for five days – no action taken. Concerts On Movies Under The Stars – False Advertising “Located on the ship's top deck, Princess makes this experience even more special with personal touches including comfortable chaise lounges, complimentary popcorn, warm cookies & milk and cozy blankets in the evening.” Sam Smith Concert I was so looking forward to this concert as I am a big fan of Sam Smith. Arrived at 5:00pm – asked for a blanket. I was told they would be passed out at 5:30pm. No blankets passed out (had to use beach towels) - no popcorn, warm cookies & milk Sound was not turned on until 15 minutes after concert started. Distractions During Concert Three staff members behind us putting away dirty beach towels talking, singing and dancing during concert Staff pushing squeaky cart around pool area during concert Staff pushing squeaky cart setting up lounge cushions during concert Kids jumping on benches and screaming Piazza Once you have sandwich, salad, etc., in hand where do you sit? Tables were taken over by passengers who were playing card games, dominos, etc. Walking around trying to find a table was ridiculous. Passengers should not be allowed to sit for hours on end when tables are scarce especially during the lunch hour. Celebrations A disappointment finding our balloons on the floor of our cabin after one day. We were told they had to be removed for safety reasons. While travelling other cruise lines our balloons were left out the duration of the trip. Anniversary poster on our cabin door was generic. My husband added our names to it for a personal touch. A letter was written to their Post Cruise Customer Relations on November 20, 2017 outlining in detail our true disappontment. I have never had the courtesy of a reply to my letter. Never will I cruise on Princess. We are not new to cruising as having cruised on Carnival, Cunard and Holland America. It is heartbreaking to have spent over $5,000 for one of the worst cruises we have ever experienced. Read Less

Ruby Princess is essentially the same layout as Crown Princess, which my family has previously sailed upon, so we were quite familiar with the layout of the cabin and ship. Unlike the Crown Princess, the service on Ruby Princess is extremely poor. 1. During the first shore excursion day, I got sick from the food onboard and had an acute stomach pain. Instead of acknowledging my condition to be caused by the food onboard, the ship medical officer simply shrugged it off to a bad case of indigestion. I've travelled widely to many countries in the past, including eating off the street in India and China with no ill effect. The ship medical officer can, at least, acknowledge that there might be food preparation challenges which resulted in my stomach trouble. Due to the acute pain, I lost half a day of shore excursion time. 2. On the disembarkation day, my wife discovered that she had lost her pair of glasses. We searched everywhere in the stateroom but couldn't find anything. When I sought the help of the stateroom attendant, the response was "we are very busy today. we can't help you find the missing glasses." This is very disappointing; the stateroom attendant can at least collect the description of the glasses and promise that if they are found, we would be contacted. Read Less

If you want to be treated as though you are an inconvenience to employees, do not want to have fun, and want to be yelled at scolded or told no on everything you want to do, you should definitely go on a Ruby Princess Cruise. Unlimited drink cards: A joke. Bartenders will threaten to take your card away if you look under 30 and order two drinks such as a shot and water, while other guests in their late 50's are allowed to order 3+drinks at one time. There were only three bartenders throughout the trip that did not look like they hated their life, that had any experience in bar tending, and that could make more than one drink at a time. Everyone behind the bar was extremely under-trained. I was carded when I ordered a coke. Go to Hitson or Robb, they will take care of you. They have constant smiles, good attitudes, and look like they genuinely enjoy life. Rooms: There was nothing special about them, but they were clean at all times which was appreciated. Dinner: If you have food allergies you are required to order your food at least one day in advance in anytime dining. If you do not, the head waiter will come over and sternly speak to you and treat you as a child that broke some rule. They are usually one step away from sending you to your room. There was only ONE head waiter that smiled and that treated me with any respect. The wait staff was just okay. No one had personality. It was almost as though the head waiters did not allow fun or enjoyment in the dining room and that made me feel sad for everyone that worked there. The dress code is a joke. They only enforce it if you look under 30 (again). My friend was asked to leave to change his tank top, but the 5 (yes, 5) tables completely surrounding us with people 60+ all had hats, tanks, and shorts on, all of which were against the dress code. Naturally, we pointed out if you are going to enforce a dress code, it needs to be throughout the dining room, not at one table. Restaurants: If something says “reservations recommended” ignore it. They do not mean that. They mean required. My husband and I were refused dinner until after 9:00 pm, in an empty restaurant. Bingo: order the tablet, not the paper cards. Only tablets win. Casino: Only place on the ship where you are treated with respect, but you are also spending hundreds of dollars. Karaoke: Again, a joke. You need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time just to sign up to sing. If you request to sing, you are yelled at and told to bring it up to passenger services. Coffee Shop: The salted Caramel Strata is amazing, ask Ashley to make it. He is super sweet, fun, and will remember you. The shows: I went to two of the three shows. They have an amazing concept, great actors, singers, dancers, and the costumes are amazing, but the show is very slow. Get yourself a cold drink while you sit there because the ventilation is horrible in the theatre. I left dripping sweat with how hot it got in that room. Overall, I spent too much money on this cruise to be treated the way that my husband and I were. This was the opposite of how I thought our honeymoon would go. We had to fight just to get the credits we were suppose to have for referring 15 people to the ship. The ports were amazing and we had a great time on the excursions (Did not book through the cruise). The excursions gave us a break from the poor attitudes of the boat. For a while, I thought perhaps it is our group, but in speaking with other passengers, they agreed that this was the worst cruise that they had been on as well. I could have complained while on the cruise, but chose not to. The only thing they could have done was to give us a credit for another cruise, which will not be happening. We will not be booking another trip with Princess. We will be going with another line in hopes of a better experience. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I wanted to try princess cruise lines… I'll start with the pros and end with The not so kind cons ... The embarkation and debarkation we're very fast and simple… The crew was exceptional, And the colors of the world show, and the magic musical we're good… and that's where the pros end... Cons… Yes this was a four night cruise I and many others felt penalized for being on a short cruise… Steve White the comedian was anything but funny… I am far from a racist but after the 15th time he felt he needed to explain to everyone that was not a black joke or as he put it you didn't expect to see a Negro with the name White, it got to the point where you felt he didn't want to be there… If that is his schtict he needs to find another way to try to make people laugh, because he certainly didn't make anybody laugh that Night ...He did tell one joke but actually screamed at the audience for most of the show… It was a terrible way as a first impression for princess ...The food was almost inedible... we started with a buffet when we came on ship and couldn't find anywhere to sit, no big problem… When dinner rolls around 1 course was as bad as the next… On the very last night you would think they would go out of the way to make an impression, wrong! I had the surf and turf and the New York strip which was ordered medium rare . I could not even cut it and had to send it back and got something else… this was basically every meal and extremely disappointing… The pizza by the pool was the best thing on the ship and I'm from Chicago and like my thick pizza ... this was a good thin pizza… My wife and I could not wait for this trip to end… At LAX others were talking about how bad the food was so I know I was not in the minority… One gentleman even spoke to the food and beverage manager and he said That this cruise's food was not up to par… I am really disappointed to the point where even if princess offered credit for another cruise I would be tempted to decline their offer ... We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on July 15th so wanted to be on a ship for this day. We had done the same cruise on our 40th anniversary. We knew it was a good time to go to Alaska as the weather is good in July and August. Also we renewed our Wedding Vows in the chapel onboard the ship with the captain officiating the service for us. We had the photography department video the service for us for a fee and were really pleased with the video that they made for us and all the pictures they did of the service. The food and service in the dining rooms was excellent. The cabin steward kept our cabin spotless and took extra care decorating our room with balloons and congratulatory messages written on the mirror. We enjoyed Daniel at the piano bar. Loved the cappuccino coffee we could get in the morning to bring back to the room and enjoy on our balcony before going for breakfast in the Dining Room. It was an excellent cruise and we have another cruise on Princess planned for April in the Caribbean. We did four excursions, one at each port and we enjoyed all of them. Read Less

My aunt told me about the cruise to Alaska. This was my 3rd cruise but my first on Princess cruises. I normal cruise on Carnival. I must say it was the worst experience I ever had on a cruise. The staff spoke very little English, they didn't know the ship very well and when I asked for directions they sent me to the wrong place. The staff was rude, the food was awful, the customer service was terrible, they over charged you for everything, the entertainment was horrible and the ship was subpar. I wouldn't recommend this ship to anyone. They cheated me out of money in the casino, over charging my boyfriends credit card my aunts credit card and my credit card. I got sick on cruise because I was served an omelet with peppers in it and I'm allergic to peppers, they then tried to say I had a viruses and they harassed me for three day's. They didn't get me medial attention when I was about to faint. They sent me from the 15th floor to the 4th for medical facility and when I got there it was closed. I didn't hear from anyone in the medical department until later that evening and that's when they began to harass me and insult me. I was treated really bad and their was nothing I could do bout it. It was my boyfriends first cruise and he hated this ship. He almost got into a fight with one of the staff members because they tried to come into our room with out our permission. The whole experience was a nightmare. We plan on getting an attorney and requesting a refund because the ship and the staff failed us and didn't give us what we paid for. Read Less

We were in cabin D625. We have many problems that I need to share. First, upon arrival we discovered a used tooth brush on the shelf in the bathroom. Now in and of itself not a big deal. But let us look deeper. Because if someone cleaned the bathroom and wiped it down (disinfected it) the tooth brush (that was on a tissue) would have been found. With all the hand sanitizer around and previous bouts of disease one would think that is a situation. But again I report it and it goes nowhere. A clear health problem yet no one seems to care. Second, our toilet has not worked properly since boarding. We flush and the wait for up to 3 hours or more before the toilet actually flushes. And then not completely. Urine may be taken away but the paper stays. A second or third flush is needed. As for solid waste, well we have had to sail with that sloshing around in the bowl with urine for hours as well. We have reported each instance many times and have been apologized to often. Many times with a promise of a plumber being contacted personally by the front desk. Again sailing with excrement and urine is not my idea of a fun cruise. Sloshing and spilling on the floor as the bowl fills up. Again cannot be a healthy situation. I have video of the non flushing if you wish. Again I have asked to speak with ship management and we have been ignored or whatever, but nobody cares. If an outbreak occurred I know where to start looking. Third, the crew that is sent to investigate. Well mostly have been kind or trying to be (Ferdinand is nice) except for the front desk. I believe that is how you spell her name. She came to the cabin and stood at our door in the most condescending manner. Like I was annoying her in explaining that my toilet is not flushing for days and it is spilling onto the floor. When my wife said all we want is to be made a priority as the situation is a health issue that has been going on for days, she told us that we are not a priority. Nice customer service. I reiterated that I would like to speak to the hotel manager and she said she would bring it up at the morning meeting. I guess we are not a priority for we have yet to hear from anyone. We told her to leave before it got really heated. We discussed the situation in the hallway as other passengers passed by. The looks from them really told a story. Next, the next to last night we found blood on our comforter that was not there when we left for our dinner but was when we returned. Again I have pictures. It was gone when we returned from breakfast. Talk about health code violations. Again I would love to be able to speak with management onboard but alas we are not priority. Blood, urine, bowel movements sloshing around on the floor, not a priority. The plumbing was a constant problem throughout the cruise. One 1 occasion we actually saw a plumber outside our cabin working on the system. He showed us a large piece of equipment that he changed out. We asked if we could use the toilet, he said not yet. He saw us enter the cabin. We then entered the cabin. We went to the balcony for a few minutes. We then entered the cabin and began to get ready for dinner. Just as we started to get undressed, he walked out of the bathroom saying it was fixed. Now he saw us go into the cabin, so he entered the cabin without waiting for us to answer the door. It was a good thing we did not start to undress immediately, as who knows if he knocked. Next is the brown water in the bathroom. After the plumber was there and left, we then started to get ready for dinner. We turned on the water and brown water came out. I have video. It went on for 5 minutes. We called the front desk and told them. Ferdinand came to the cabin and we showed him the brown water in the sink, the tub, and the toilet. Now we were told that there was no problem with anyone else and brown water. So I do not know what to think. I also am concerned the same water that flowed into the toilet is also routed to the sink and bathtub. Even if it is water that goes into the toilet from the same source that the sink gets its water from, I think that is a problem. Systems back up, and if nobody else on the ship had the problem, then my cabin's water supply is connected somehow. We were given a $500 credit onboard to make up for the inconvenience of sailing with was basically a Chamber Pot for 7 days, the attitude of the staff towards our problem and their lack of urgency about our potential health issues. I did get a call form customer service a week and a half after the cruise. Again apologies and still I felt that even as I was being apologized to, that I was putting them out. Just a feeling. They offered a $500 credit on a future cruise as an additional apology. But cruising with Princess is not in my future. Read Less

I have never been on a cruise that I was counting down the days until it ENDED. This was the worst cruise my husband and I have ever been on. We typically go with RC or Carnival but had decided to book Princess for our honeymoon since it was supposed to be more upscale. Unfortunately, the only thing upscale about this cruise was the price... The service was horrible from the second we got to the port and got on the ship, the crew was poorly trained, rude, snotty, and aloof to the needs of their passengers. They acted more like minimum wage employees than professional men/women who provide services for gratuity. Our steward never kept water stocked in the room, despite numerous requests and we frequently saw trays of food piled in the hallways. When we asked for any kind of assistance or service, we pretty much got the standard "its not my job" response and got direction to call some obscure department. Also, typically on cruises they have very good communication about what is going on for the day and where to find things but this ship always left you not really knowing what was happening. The first couple days of the cruise we thought it was strange that they would not let you touch anything and kept all silverware/condiments off the dining room tables. We later found out that the sailing previous to ours had been quarantined because of a significant breakout. The quarantine continued through the first 2 days of our cruise, without us knowing... The second day of the cruise my husband started showing symptoms of the Norovirus and was forced to spend the entire cruise in our cabin...what a waste. It was clear that even though the ship had gone through the mandatory quarantine period they had not properly cleaned to ensure it did not continue to be an issue. By the time my husband was quarantined, we had also already purchased multiple spa services, many of which were couple oriented. The spa gave me a very hard time canceling the services and was quick to let me know that they are their own company. After multiple calls we were finally able to cancel his services but they would not allow me to cancel mine without paying the full price. Some of the services they made me pay for were ones that it would not make sense to do alone (like the couples thermal suite) so we ended up paying for services we did not receive. To make things worse, we never received any acknowledgement of it being a special occasion, despite other passengers receiving banners/balloons, etc. And at the end, we were slapped with a $100 medical bill from the SHIP to cover the paramedic visit and basic OTC drugs we were given. They did not offer any reimbursement or voucher for the sickness incurred from THEIR ship. On top of all this, at the end of the cruise, even with them knowing that my husband had been quarantined and was still contagious we were kicked out of our room for disembarkation and forced to wait in a busy lobby for 3 hours....Feel bad for anyone sitting near us or boarding the ship afterwards. We will continue to cruise but needless to say, we (or friends/family) will never go near this cruise line again, an outcome could have been very different if Princess had made a few small steps to rectify. It is disappointing to see a service driven company with ethics and customer service as poor as theirs. Read Less
