My wife and I celebrated her birthday and our retirement. We had a great time visiting ports in Italy, Greece and Turkey. Unfortunately we had to reroute from Israel due to the war. However, RC diverted to other beautiful Greek Islands. We felt safe despite the conflict. Nice entertainment, the 260 stage was awesome! Comedy, music, dancing... Also enjoyed the North Star Observation and the ...
Took this cruise for the itinerary. Mykonos, Santorini & Israel. Unfortunately war broke out and the Israel stops were cancelled. Not RCL fault. Completely understood this. MDR food was ok. Much smaller portions served on BIG plates doesn't impress me. No lobster night (could pay $17.99 + 18% gratuity for a 4 oz tail). Onion soup great, but the cheese on top was like chewing bubble gum, too thick ...
I have been on the Empress, Freedom, Enchantment with upcoming cruises on Celebrity Ascent and Radiance. Enchantment has been my least favorite. I will say that the service was good. Drinks were good as well as the ports. This cruise was more about the itinerary than the ship. I would never recommend this ship to just be on the ship.
Issues
Cabins. Very dated. We were in a Junior Suite. ...
I had seen a lot of reviews saying that Explorer of the Seas was outdated and needing of a refresh. However, we were overall very impressed with the ship as a whole. There were some scuffs and wind/sun damage outside, but that is to be expected. That never makes/breaks our cruise experience. We had an amazing experience sailing on the Explorer of the Seas to Greece and Croatia! We had an inside ...
We were very impressed with this older ship, despite the fact that it could do with some further updating and is a little tired looking. It is a good sized ship, with lots of space and good public places. The itinerary in the Greek islands was great, and the ship’s tours we did in Kotor, Corfu and Argostoli were all very good.
Our balcony cabin was spacious and kept very clean by our cabin ...
After ready lots of reviews in the weeks prior to going I was not expecting much at all. Obviously passengers opinions vary but some of the complaints had me worried. I also went on Anthem last year which was terrible as things were still badly effected by covid. From the moment we got on this time it was different altogether. Staff levels were back to normal, the Windjammer food was amazing and ...
Unlike other reviews the staff is very friendly and helpful. We (6 persons) have not once met or encountered an unfriendly staff member.
Service at the main dining hall is excellent, personal and friendly. Our waiters Iputu and Kadek were very nice.
Yes, the ship is somewhat dated and it shows, but for us nowhere near what others have reviewed. Rooms were clean (other than the occasional ...
We decided to take this cruise after spending 4 days in Jerusalem and a trip to the Dead Sea. The old city is very awe inspiring and well worth visiting. The cruise left from Haifa which we reached by train, cheaply and efficiently even though the train was crowded and the ticket system not tourist friendly. We had read the reviews here of the ship so were prepared to be underwhelmed but it’s in ...
We flew into Rome and stayed at hotel Artimide. It was a great choice. Fine rooftop bar and restaurant and outstanding breakfast buffet. We used Rome cabs for 3 transfers and they worked out perfectly.
We did the hop on/hop off bus in Rome and it was a good way to see the sights.
We had balcony connecting rooms.
They were good size. Very happy. The balcony dividers also opened so we ...
This is my first cruise since the pandemic. This is also my first European cruise and my 8th cruise. I stayed in Barcelona for 4 days before the cruise and loved the city so much. Embarkation was a breeze, even easier than in Florida. First day was so busy but managed to get my early dinner sorted out. The dining room staff was very kind and helpful. I enjoyed the food in the dining room ...
