We stayed overnight in a hotel in Southampton then got a taxi to the city terminal for 11am. As D+ loyalty we got priority security and check in and were on the ship within 20 minutes. We called into the Diamond Lounge for snacks and a hot drink as windjammer wasn't open. Our balcony cabin was ready by 1pm and 30 minutes later our cases turned up so we unpacked and went for lunch. We used our D+ BOGO and went to Chops Grill first night and Giovanni's the second night. The other 4 nights we went to MTD and our waiters Russel and Bradey were excellent. Pre-dinner most nights we went to the Concierge Lounge where the service was excellent. We visited 3 ports. Vigo- Spain.Nice port 10 minutes walk up a hill got us to a long pedestrian street of shops including Zara and Mango. Gijon-Spain.This was a 20 minutes free shuttle ride into town. There was a nice promenade plus a long street of shops including Zara and Mango Le-Havre-France.There was a massive queue for the €5 return shuttle with estimated 45 minutes wait. We got a taxi instead to the docks shopping centre for only €8 which took around 10 minutes. We enjoyed our cruise and the ship looked in excellent condition. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we absolutely loved it. 2 adults & 1 teen Our Balcony Cabin was bigger than expected and equipped with everything we needed, a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Nice bedding and comfy beds Very Happy with our room attendant Sugi who was always smiling and kept our cabin in good order. We had a little problem with the Pullman bed on the first evening and that was dealt within minutes followed by an apology letter. We opted for “my time dinning” although booked our time slots in the planner before we sailed this way we still could be allocated the same table and waiter each night. Our waiter Beemal was great kept us entertained and was very attentive. Could not fault the food in any of the restaurants, bars or Cafe’s. We mainly ate in the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner. We used the Windjammer a couple of time and found the food to be very good, huge choice and although it was busy we didn’t have a problem finding a table. Johnny Rockets was also really good, milkshakes were amazing and worth the additional $9.95 per person on there own. The pool areas were quite busy especially on sea days when it was more difficult to find a sun bed, also it was school holidays so ship was generally busy, it never seemed overly crowded and we liked the adult solarium. We never had much of a wait getting drinks around the pool bars, the sky bar was our favourite, the staff were the friendliest, not that you need to go to the bar as there are plenty of waiters walking round delivering directly to our sun beds. Ice show, dance shows and Grease were amazing. My partner used the gym which was well equipped and he had a great view when arriving a ports first thing. We had the Key package and I would recommend it, it come with quite a few perks including the reserved seating for all the shows and the internet. We also were allocated time slots for the climbing wall, flow rider, ice skating and trampolines (we didn’t get round to doing most of them) The first day lunch was served in the main dining room but used the chops grill menu, It was a lovely and relaxed way to start our cruise. It was also nice to leave the ship when we wanted to rather than waiting to be called. Overall for what we paid which was about £17 per per person per day it was good value and would get again if offered at the name price. The only thing I would say is that it’s not fully advertised on the ship and you have to ask when you go into the theatre and shows to be seated. We had to select a showing for the Grease performance and was advised to meet in the bar and would be taken to our seats, this didn't happen so we made our own way and was shown to our seats. We left the ship at both ports in Spain but just had a walk around did not do any trips but would consider on our next cruise (already booked) it’s a shame the independence is not sailing from the UK next year as we really loved it, just hoping Athem lives up to it. Overall we had a wonderful cruise! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the cost. Usually cruise Celebrity but the cost for this was less for equivalent sailing. Our status with Celebrity transferred over to Royal and was a great benefit for us. All the ports were great and crew was excellent. We only did two excursions and they were arranged privately. Did a tour in Tallin, Estonia and a 2 day tour in St. Petersburg, Russia. Other ports were Skagen and Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland. We began and ended in Amsterdam. For the ports - do your research. The transfers were expensive and not always necessary if you like to walk - and not always a long walk. Some of the areas were a short distance from the dock. The Brilliance was very shiny and new in most of the public areas. The Schooner Bar and Colony Club were very dark and reminiscent of an older type of ship decor. The cabins are in need of a redo. Food is very subjective. Meat ordered medium rare was usually overcooked and replaced. Other dishes were good and bad. I never went hungry! Read Less

Chose this cruise mainly to see St Petersburg, Estonia, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Excellent to have the overnights in Stockholm and Copenhagen and especially two nights in St Petersburg. We found both the embarkation and disembarkation went well for us and I didn't hear anyone we spoke to complaining about it. Found the ship easy to navigate and liked that there are not too many people on board. All the staff we spoke to were all friendly and helpful. Great having the Solarium on the cooler days and will look for that on other ships when we choose our next cruise. Very good entertainment at the different areas around the ship and people seemed to join in with the crew. Bingo was a bit of a rip-off so won't do that again but did have a go on the pokies and won $500. Good variety and quality of food in the free dining areas. (we didn't try any that you had to pay for) We didn't do any of the ship's shore excursions so can't comment on them. (we did do a tour in St Petersburg with TJ Travel and would highly recommend them) Will definitely travel Royal Caribbean again! Read Less

Have cruised a lot on several of the big lines and this was our second cruise with RC. Having read the other reviews this is our take. We traveled with our 24 year old son (he loves a free holiday!) and had a sea view cabin 2584 with 3 single beds one being a bunk! We had such a laugh taking it in turns to stop on the top and getting up and down the ladder! I'm 57 wife 51 so you can imagine the fun!!! Loads of room for the three of us and whilst the room was a little dated how much time time do you spend in the room!? Shower was more than ample for a six foot bloke and was kept impeccable by our room attendant. I have read that some people think the ship was tatty but you would really have to look hard to find wear and tear and during the two weeks there was always work going to paint etc and we also got a new mattress each during the two weeks as did the whole ship. Again it had no bearing on my overall holiday I found the ship to be excellent and exactly what we wanted. We eat each morning and lunch if on board in the windjammer and found it excellent. Great choice of everything with separate stations for various things every day. With 3000 people on board it is always going to be busy but we never found it hard to get a table and the staff where always around to clear or get you a drink. I have to say I had some of the tastiest food on a ship and the burgers at lunch are 5 star! I eat my own weight in burgers in the two weeks!! Dinner was taken each night in the the main dining room, we had intended to go to specialty restaurants a couple of nights but we really didn't need to as again the food and service was excellent. We eat second sitting and had two great waiters and the manager was also great fun. Varied menu each night and if you cant find something you liked there was also a great selection of old faves to choose from. As we remembered from our first RC cruise 10 years ago overall everything was top draw. Entertainment I wont spoil other than to say really enjoyed it. Didn't go every-night but had laughs with comics sang along to the Beatles and enjoyed the dancing. Would say you have to spend a night in Schooners with the ever so camp Perry and his shiny suits! Again a great mix in a great theater. Ports Gibraltar: Been before and love it. Go see the monkeys and enjoy England in the sun! Cartagena: Great little un spoilt Spanish town with fab buildings and little shops, if you love history the Roman ruins are spectacular. Barcelona: Two days to explore, do the red route on the hop on bus but leave time to eat some amazing food. The food market on La Rambla is a must! walk round looking at all the amazing meat and sea food then jump on a seat at one of the many food stalls and watch as you food is cooked! Had some amazing giant red prawns!!! Malaga: My new fave Spanish city! Flown in many times cant believe I never stayed here! Large cosmopolitan and very Spanish! Great shops, great back streets, great little Tapas restaurants and a lovely beach right next to the ship! Nothing to not like! Parma: Again been before, had a beach day then walk around the town, very pleasant. Valencia: 10 minute shuttle brings you to the centre of the old town, lots of squares and churches to find, what I call a proper Spanish city! Cadiz: Again very Spanish see above. Lisbon: Lots to see and on a food theme! find the TimeOut food market near the main square and eat!!! get there about 11.30 by 12.15 it was packed with locals, custard tarts to die for! And what a cruise in and out down the coast under the bridge! Getting on and off was a breeze we got there 12.30 on board 1.15 off in 10 minutes, Yes it was busy getting off and getting a taxi but no drama. Overall I would give a score of 9 out of 10. I really enjoyed it and after writing this review I will be looking for the next cruise! Andrew Read Less

Reviews for Med – royal Caribbean cruise june 2019 We sailed on a 14 day med cruise on Explorer OTS, chosen primarily because of the itinerary and it being mid-June. This was our 8th cruise but only our second cruise with Royal Caribbean and I have to admit I was somewhat concerned about how much I would enjoy the ship, especially considering the spate of very negative reviews that have been written. Well in a nutshell my husband and I had a fantastic cruise and enjoyed almost all aspects of our 14 days, however in fairness I have to say that we are not overly critical people and enjoy a laidback cruise and on occasion the solitude of our cabin. So many reviews have commented that the ship is overdue for a refurbishment and not in a good stare of repair; well apart from the odd bit of rust on our balcony we had absolutely no complaints. Our cabin (8568) was well appointed, clean, had masses of storage space and the bed was very comfortable, and the public areas were fine. Then again we do not spend our holiday looking for negatives to complain about we just get on and enjoy ourselves. Embarkation was efficient and timely. We arrived in Southampton slightly earlier than boarding and after waiting perhaps 15 minutes we were on our way up the walkway, in the lift to the upper deck and sipping our first cocktail. (our traditional Aperol Spritz ) The windjammer buffet was a very pleasant surprise. Even that first lunchtime we were easily able to find a table and the choice and standard of the food was exceptional. The design seemed far more spacious than other ships we have been on and I never felt crowded. Perhaps my biggest compliment belongs to the MDR administration. When I booked I was not able to secure any time dinning and had to book fixed dinning. Unhappy with this option I contacted the Maître D on the first day requested a change and on the following day there was a note in my cabin saying they had amended my reservation to ATD. I really didn’t expect such efficient prompt action. My second compliment goes to the tender disembarkation organisation in Ville Franche. Royal Caribbean do not allocate tender tickets but it was organised in a very timely manner and we were ashore to meet out tour guide ahead of time. We ate every evening in the Sapphire dining room and enjoyed every meal. We liked sitting with strangers and having very different conversations each night. Service was perfectly acceptable for A La Carte service which I don’t expect to resemble the in/out speed of self service. We had planned to utilise our OBC by going to the speciality restaurants but food quality was so good I spent it on an amazing but ridiculously priced spa treatment instead,. Entertainment in the theatre was good but perhaps not excellent. While the professional acts were good I did not enjoy the royal Caribbean players. In my opinion the worst feature was the overly amplified sound system, making the whole show just a noise!! Perhaps the sound system was deliberately loud to mask the poor quality of the performers. Other evening entertainment venues did tend to get very crowded and was the only times I was aware that we were sailing fully booked. As iv said this cruise was chosen for the itinerary and we enjoyed every port. I don’t use ships tours preferring to organise my own small group private tours with local companies and all were excellent. I made contact with fellow passengers via CC and Facebook and a total of 8 couples did 5 tours of 4 couples each. It was an added bonus making such lovely friends. When reading my individual port reviews, you may realise I am not too keen on ships tours, but that’s my personal opinion. Small niggles – our cabin steward never bothered to introduce himself, disembarking at Southampton was a tad confused and I wasn’t keen on the structure of our balcony which was sheltered and prevented me sunbathing. All in all an excellent cruise, a fantastic holiday, some lovely friends and I won’t hesitate to book royal Caribbean again. Ports of Call Gibraltar Caught a white minivan outside port and had 2 hour tour of rock, tunnels, caves, views and monkeys for £30 pp. - Very enjoyable. The minibus was able to climb higher up the rock than the bigger tour buses and so minimised walking. Shop prices are in sterling or Euros but beware of the offered exchange rate. Excellent duty free prices - particularly alcohol, tobacco and cigarettes. Villefranche Had organised two private tours of 4 couples each with Riviera Premium Tours. Company had excellent reviews and ours tours lived up to expectations. Our 6 hour tour included Nice ( Flower market was amazing) Monaco, Monte Carlo, drove the grand prix circuit and the mountain village of Eze. A really good tour, professional and well organised and very reasonably priced La Spezia Florence and Pisa – small private tour of 4 couples with Florence Connections. We left early and beat the crowds, it included a long drive but was well worth it. Sergio our guide was excellent and our tour included a professional guide for 3 hours in Florence. Once again we were able to access the centre of Florence which the big coaches were not able to thus saving us a 20 minute walk each way. I was a little concerned about the distance we were motoring in case we were late returning to the ship but as Sergio explained all tours follow the same road back to port so any hold up would be experienced by all coaches. We were back on board at exactly our requested time and over an hour before the ships tours that only toured Florence. Both Pisa and Florence were amazing and I can highly recommend them. Rome – Civitaveccia We have actually stayed in Rome twice before so chose to stay in port. Wandered the town and found a ‘rustic’ café on the beach and ate pasta and bar b q prawns while sipping a local red wine. Life was good Naples We toured with AP Tours, a company I had used before and once again they were very professional, and gave great service. This time we toured Pompeii, a vineyard and ate a locally produced 5 course lunch while sampling the various wines. Highly suggest hiring a professional guide in Pompeii to appreciate the magnificent city. Two years ago I went on their Amalfi Coast tour which again was excellent. Can highly recommend either tour with this excellent company. Seville – Cadiz This was probably the best tour that we did. We did a 3 ½ hour food tour with Bertram from Cadiz Food Tours. We had a walking tour of the town which was so pretty and touched on the history, visited the fish market – amazing and then visited 3 different authentic tapas bars to sample both their food and wine. What an amazing tour, the food was unbelievable ( not everything was to my taste – do say if you are non-fish eater or vegetarian) but I was literally blown away by the quantity, the quality and the choice of food offered. For the price it was outstanding. Read Less

Love the Radiance Class for this 7 night Baltic Cruise, 2100 people, easy to find everything. Picked Deck 3 oceanview and for port days just walked one deck down, very handy. Food was just fine. We celebrated a major birthday and enjoyed Chops one night and Giovanni's another night. Ship is a bit dated, but everything was acceptable. Diamond level so we enjoyed the beverages in the diamond lounge, less than 100 people so lounge was not too congested, but could use all the bars. Always enjoyed Windjammer for buffet breakfast, and sat out at aft of the ship, where most people don't sit. Enjoyed the wake. Sail in/out of Stockholm was incredible. Get up early or make sure you view this, 32,000 islands. Cruise director David was one of the oldest we have ever seen, but did an ok job. evening shows had Martin Brock excellent illusionist. Abbamax, ABBA tribute band was very entertaining, had the clothing, hair and heels! 2 production shows. Vibeology was excellent, Stage to Screen ok but Vibeology the best. Had some Russian gymnasts last night, who were super. Schooner Bar, had Jayne great pianist and entertainer. Not a real large library, but daily puzzles. Captain Arias was from Columbia, so announcements in English and Spanish. Bed was comfortable. Ship will have drydock in a year or 2. In all the ports there was a Hop on Hop off red bus there, except St Petersburg. Stockholm not hard to walk into town, Vasa museum a must, ABBA close by, harbour tour also lots of fun. walked around town Talinn, older town, very interesting. Not as busy as other ports. St Petersburg, Russia, did private Alla tour, had to wait 90 min till ship tours disembarked. City is very busy, traffic jams everywhere. Hermitage museum and Peterhof gardens super, even though museum was real busy. Even took local Metro ride and great lunch. Need more than 12 hours in port to see more. Helsinki, also nice to walk around, hilly city, nice harbour tour recommended. Stay a few days pre or post cruise in Copenhagen for sure. One can actually take Bus 25 from downtown direct to port. Metro gets you central to Norreport and bus is close by. But large cruise bags will make it more difficult. You can also use hop on red bus and buy 2 day pass and get ride there. Read Less

This was our first ever cruise. We chose the cruise more for the ship than it’s destinations. On our arrival we were through check in and onto the ship in 10 minutes (although we did arrive an hour late on the coach due to traffic). The ship is big but I expected more things on it. Our inside cabin (1697 on deck 10) was small (2 adults and 1 teen) but adequate and quiet. We didn’t eat in the main restaurant as it was a set menu and our son is autistic so has issues with food. Instead we ate at the Windjammer buffet (and once at Johnny Rockets). We could not find any fault with the food or cleanliness. Before entering you are encouraged to wash your hands (by the singing washy washy men) and use antibacterial gel. Johnny Rockets charges $10 per person as a supplement but you can then order as much as you want from the menu, plus the food was nice. Our cruise was from Southampton to the Mediterranean and back so the first 3 days and last 2 days were not great weather. The rest were fantastic but with only 2 sea days we didn’t use much. We used the swimming pool just once but sunbathed a couple of times. The flowrider was always busy with good surfers hogging it. The skypad was fun but the VR was a little disorientating. We went to plenty of quizzes and won one. The entertainment was fantastic with several top artists flown in Darren Day, Steve Hewlett, Jamie Allen plus others. We also had a stage show of Grease which was good but I found very disjointed and not in the correct sequence. The shops were expensive although they had many sales later in the cruise. The Market had some allergy tablets costing $15 but you can get them in Poundland for.......£1. The service throughout the ship was second to none, in fact I honestly don’t think I saw or heard any miserable staff. I need to pay particular praise on our stateroom attendant, Lionel King. He couldn’t do enough for you, and his standards exceeded our expectations. He came in a cleaned up twice a day. We didn’t do any ship excursions as they were extremely expensive. Instead we simply did our own thing. Getting on/off in port was always really easy. Our son has autism and he enjoyed the cruise but didn’t do any teen clubs. He struggled a few days with food choices but was fine most days. He particularly enjoyed the hot chocolate from the Cafe Promenade. Afterwards he said he would like to do another cruise but in the Caribbean next time. We will definitely do another cruise but next time we will choose it for the destinations more than the ship. My only disappointment was the cost of the shops, laundry (although they do a deal for $35), premium restaurants and excursions. Finally we would not get the soda drinks package again as in our view it’s not value for money. Read Less

Extraordinarily interesting ports with Sea Days perfectly interspersed to rest for exhausting shore excursions. Seas were calm; chilly but sweaters and light jackets sufficed. The Brilliance although not new was well laid-out and never felt crowded. Solarium was especially comfortable with additional food choices (great quick roast beef sandwich) Smaller, quieter dining area also available in casual dining. Main dining room was excellent for breakfast lunch and dinner. RC's Shore excursions were remarkably good---especially the "Soviet Experience" in Estonia. Entertainment was unexpectedly good. The most outstanding thing about this was the crew. I've been on 12 cruises - and this staff was the best ! Waiters, guest relations, shore excursions- all could not do enough for you. We found "the key" worthwhile. No embarkation lines, wonderful embarkation lunch at Chops and final breakfast at Giovanni's. Internet worked well and was included in key. I chose this cruise because of the ports: departing from Copenhagen, then Stockholm, Tallin, st Petersburg, Helsinki, back to Copenhagen. Overall - Amazing location, very friendly cruise staff, great service and food, we were surprised by how swift embarkation at ports were. Just check in was a little long. We arrived CPH on day of embarkation at 7am. There was already cruise staff holding a sign asking if anyone has booked cruise transfer to port. Nonetheless , my group used public transportation to Oceankaj by train then bus 25/27. We spent about 1+ hour at check in counter, we were told that it is the first sail of the year, staff was still on training to the new system as happens that system was down. I completed online check in but staff can not locate record so we have to complete whole check in process again. Team did not collect passport from us at check in, which again create a little hassle when we are on board. Cruise staff has to come to us to collect it. Once we board, staff with yellow t shirt was at every floor to help answer questions and help people familiarise with the cruise. This is my 2nd cruise with RCI, serenade of the Seas is a smaller cruise then before (quantum class cruise) which means less people, and less crowded. Never very difficult to get table at Windjammer. Dinner at main dining room was fab. Good food and attentive service. Same table and wait staff everyday Remember to download their app if you need to know info in other language. My family benefited from using the app as info were listed in chinese for them. Not really long lines at customer service. Staff are much more friendly, Cruise Director David is always around, can feel that he cares about customers. The cruise is a little dated but well maintained. Lots of storage space. Our housekeeper Sean is amazing, always checking if we are ok. Great shows and always good music on board. Less entertainment facilities on board then quantum class cruise, but I did enjoy my ‘do nothing’ time. Amazing ports especially Stockholm. Hop on hop off bus was waiting right outside departure gate for travelers. Tallin is an easy port, within walking distance to old town. Helsinki ‘s port was a little far away from downtown. Even excursion staff is unsure which port cruise will use 2 days before arrival. Wrong info given at the leaflet distributed on board. We joined independent excursion at St Petersburg, we can only depart ship 90 min after docking time. Have to let those joined cruise shorex depart first. We traveled in smaller group and with early entry to Hermitage plus an additional subway ride. Overall good cruise experience again. I would recommend this cruise and route. Read Less

The idea of an inaugural cruise was very appealing as we had been on the Ovation of the Seas and loved it, so we were very much looking forward to this new class of ship, and we were not disappointed. We did a 30 day back to back, following the Suez Canal Cruise we stayed on for the Spice Route Cruise. We knew this ship was especially designed for the Chinese market, so some aspects, such as the very small gym, we accepted because of that. We found the decor and design of the ship to be beautiful, particularly the Asian Art aspects. There were very few initial problems, but these were soon rectified with lots of workmen on board to attend to them. Overall though everything went very smoothly, and we received many gifts from RCL to celebrate the inaugural season. Rooms: We changed our staterooms for the second leg, they were both balcony rooms and very comfortable and well designed with plenty of storage, probably the best ever balcony rooms we've had in over 25 cruises. Entertainment: there were lots of good quality headliner shows, but a lack of production shows. We realised later that they were doing lots of rehearsals with the new theatre etc. and in the second leg we saw the best show ever on a cruise ship - in the 270 performance space the Silk Roads show was absolutely amazing, and worth the wait. Dining: we had My Time dining, and found the main dining room food to be of a good quality, and the service excellent. However, over such a long cruise we found the menu to be repetitive, and preferred the choices in Windjammer, where there was a huge choice every day and excellent Asian food in particular. Silver Lounge: As Diamond plus cruisers we were able to access this lovely space for Breakfast and Lunch, as well as complimentary drinks and appetisers in the evening. We enjoyed this new space very much. Service: we could not fault the service on this ship, in every way crew were polite and helpful, even with the complex itinerary in relation to immigration requirements. Our changeover and change of room as consecutive cruisers was also fine, although some people lined up hours before the stated time and then complained about the wait! Embarkation and Disembarkation was also smooth and quick. So overall we were very pleased and excited to be a part of the initial sailings of this fine new addition to the Royal Caribbean fleet. Chose this cruise for its Itinerary. Embarkation was stress free and we were on the ship within half an hour of arriving at Southampton. Our cabin, on deck 12, was immaculate and impeccably looked after during our stay. We had seen negative reviews of Navigator but had no complaints - the food in the Sapphire Dining Room was excellent with extremely good choice of dishes and the waiters were friendly, kind and efficient. The entertainment and activities were varied, there was something for everyone and standard of the shows excellent. We loved the Morning show on the TV with Cuddy and Daniel - hilarious. All the crew worked incredibly hard in all areas including the unsung hero’s behind the scenes. The only ‘fault’ we had was with a shore excursion advertised as a ‘Panoramic tour of Agadir’ and turned out to be a view over Agadir of the sea, a visit to a Mosque which was closed and rest of the time was at a Souk! Not value for the money 59$ each. We found Navigator of the Seas to be a very stable ship and was maintained very well - and would certainly travel with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Just needed to write this review after our 2 week cruise on board the beautiful Indy - previously I had read a lot of reviews and was slightly nervous as some of them were pretty poor BUT after witnessing various people who were ‘complaining’ while on board I now understand that some people are just down right rude and picky and want to moan just for either show or attention with one gentleman actually ranting to customer services that there was no brown bread served with his shrimp cocktail!! even though at the beginning of EVERY meal is a huge basket of bread which can be refilled on request!! I will try and alleviate anyone’s fears who may have read the previous reviews and hopefully put there mind at rest - the food is excellent period, there are huge choices and you only have to ask for anything you fancy and it will be made for you. Sometimes the windjammer can be busy at times but we never once couldn’t find a table or plenty of choice and on one busy morning we were even seated in the speciality restaurant Yes on sea days there may be a search for beds in the sun but again we never ever didnt get 4 beds together The ships cabins are slightly dated but spotlessly cleaned and looked after impeccably by the amazing cabin staff The shows were good and easy to find decent seats every time, the Ice show deserves a special mention There were a few guests that went a little bit to far on the drinks packages but they seemed to be dealt with very quickly by security and sadly bing drinking seems to be a very bad British habit Overall we had an amazing time there were only small queues at times and these were quick to be addressed So all in all I really struggled to see why anyone would have a problem on this wonderful ship with excellent food and fantastic staff and service WELL DONE INDY WE MISS YOU ALREADY BUT WE’LL BE BACK Read Less

Sailing from Southampton ... Chose Navigator as we were becoming disappointed with Celebrity and decided to give RC another try. So glad we ignored negative reports. Far from the tired ship with poor food we were told about. Spotless and shiny...If you look hard , yes you can see signs of wear and tear, but oh how the wonderful, happy and helpful crew made up for it. Meals have plenty of choice , especially if you avoid the nightmare windjammer that was crazy..simply go down to restaurants that offer self serve or waited to a high standard. Lovely table companions, super waiters. Our stateroom attendant was the happiest man we ever met..and that sums up the staff. Happy in their work, unlike some other ships ..made so much difference..We didn't feel guilty for being on a cruise while they worked. For the first time no one asked us to give them a perfect review of they would be in trouble. Royal Caribbean...you got it so right with this ship...We hope your others are the same and we will be back again! This was cruise no. 18...and we are real picky cruisers...this one was one of only 2 we felt we're 100% great value cruises. Good job:-) Read Less

After reading some of the reviews before we went we did'nt know what to expect. A lot of the previous reviews talked about the ship being over crowded after the refit but I wouldn't say this at all, it was no more crowded than any other cruise we have been on. The food was outstanding and the service in the bars and dinning rooms were brill. The entainement was great with lots of different acts on each night, I just felt that sailing from Southampton with 2 days at sea on the way and 2 days on the way back, they could have been more daytime things on to do as the weather was poor and we struggled to find things to do to keep us busy on the way back. The ports of call were great however we felt the charge of the shuttle buses were quite high. We had an amazing time and anyone going on this ship is set for a great cruise, well done royal Caribbean Read Less

I honestly can not agree with many of the reviews on here. We always got a choice of sunbeds, always got seats/table in the windjammer and never queued for a drink! The staff were so attentive to our needs. We have cruised on the Navigator previously and found the ship more or less identical apart from all the new family features. The new skypad, lazer tag, tube slides were thoroughly enjoyed by our kids. No queuing for these either! The entertainment was great fun... We particularly enjoyed Grease and Darren Day. The new sports bar was a hit with all of us. The food in the Windjammer and the dining room was excellent. The service in the dining room second to none. However, we did upgrade to Chops Grille one night which is truly exceptional. The deluxe drinks package was included in our holiday price and again, fantastic. Cocktails served by waiters to your sunbed, a range of beers, wine and spirits, speciality coffee on the promenade and deluxe shakes in Johnny Rockets. Superb! Can't wait to sail on Indy again. After reading some of the reviews we were dreading going on the Independance of the seas however we were pleasantly surprised. I have been on P&O and Princess before which were both excellent but found the service and facilities on independance of the seas to be superior. Embarkation was also much easier than both. We travelled as a family with a 5 year old child, who had the best holiday ever and wants to return next year. All staff, except one, were fantastic, especially Made in the main dining room and made our daughter feel very welcome. The ship itself is beautiful and although busy we never had to wait to be served and always found a table, We assume that royal Carribean have tried to address some of the issues with waits etc detailed in the reviews. There are loads of activities for families and the entertainment was great. The food quality on the main dining room is not the best but it's adequate and still a pleasant dining experience. The passengers were also very courteous to each other and there was a good mix of ages and nationalities. The staff work extremely hard and deserve recognition for the fantastic service they deliver. Would definately recommend. Read Less

This cruise was chosen for the price and the expected sun. As we had visited each port before except 1 it was an excuse to not do much. Embarkation and disembarkation in Southampton was very easy and smooth. Getting on our bags were taken from our car and severed to us quickly and getting off our bags were collected the night before, w left at our allocated time and bags were easy to find and exit quickly. The ship is clean, tidy and lots of things to do. The Helipad is a fab place to watch leaving and e tearing ports, the main restaurant is a must for breakfast, lunch and dinner on sea days as you don't have to fight for a table which can happen in the buffet restauran. The headliner entertainment was fantastic, but the onboard singer and dancers just had something missing that we couldn't put our fingers on. If you fancy doing the flow rider do it the day you get on as there won't be any cues. Booking tours through the ship came out expensive, however you were guaranteed getting back on the ship if you were held up. Our cabin was an internal over the promenade. This didn't mean it could be noisy later some night, but the size and facilities were good. Twin room with a seating area, large window, fridge, tea facilities, double wardrobe and lots of little areas to store things. The ensuite was good, storage before the corner mirror, good hot shower and the staff kept the room clean and tidy. The I. Room TV was s good source of information as you could check account, download films for a fee, book excursions and watch the various Charles for what was happing. Read Less

We have never cruised on Brilliance of the Seas and were not disappointed. Smooth sailing all the way. Wonderful ports of call and the staff were amazing, especially in the King and Country Pub and MTD. We purchased 3 specialty restaurant deals for an extra 70 Euro pp. the food was exceptional and our favourite was Fillet Mignon at Chops Grill. My husband and I usually go to My Time Dining, but thoroughly enjoyed the Specialty Restaurants. Looking forward to going on Brilliance of the Seas again. Our cruise deal included one night pre cruise stay at the Opollo Museum hotel, which was 30 minutes by bus from the Airport and cost 12.50 Euros for the two of us . Another 10 minute tram ride in the morning from our hotel to Amsterdam Central Station and a short walk to the pier. I would have to say that disembarking the ship at all ports of call was a breeze and the best and quickest of our 14 RCCL cruises we have been on. Love sailing with RCCL. We are Diamond members and 2 days off Diamond Plus. Ulla Richards Read Less

This was our first cruise and we loved it. Royal Caribbean staff were all very good and focused on ensuring we had a great time. We arranged our own travel to and from the ship which went well. The check in process was fairly seamless inc our bags being taken from back of taxi to our cabins so we could immediately enjoy and explore the ship. The cabins (spacious ocean views) did feel spacious. We were on deck 9 and right at the front of the ship which was great for seeing where we were. Dining experiences in the main dining room were on the whole superb. We didn’t see the value in paying for speciality restaurants. The ports were good with highlights being Lisbon ( the RC Land and Water excursion was superb), Cadiz ( we simply walked off the boat and had a lovely walk along the promenade and then through the narrow city streets - a beautiful city), Gibraltar ( don’t pre book - we simply paid a taxi driver for a 90 min tour of rock and caves and then were dropped back in town. Much cheaper) & Palma ( we did RC Drach Caves tour which was very good). The shuttle bus is a rip off! 20 euros each to get you out of the port!. We thought Sardinia was very shabby and wouldn’t return. Finally, we did RC tour to Guadalest in Alicante which was very pretty. The post booking info could be better and would be the main thing I would want improved. You get a link to log into cruise planner which has options to buy things like drinks package that we had already bought. The information for cruise virgins was poor, especially when you then watch information on tv on the ship that explains all the things you wanted to know before you left! Read Less

I'll start off with this - I did not even want to go to the cruise as I had apprehensions about being sea sick and bored..but NOW I'm converted, and really, I'd recommend it whole heartedly to anyone! So -- all in all, I'd say it was fantastic. There was something for all age groups - young kids, teenagers, twenties, thirties, young couples, middle aged couples, and elderly people as well! I'm telling everyone it was like being on floating 5 star hotel! All in all - here's what I thought were par excellence: -Staff: Everyone was friendly, professional, went out of their way to ensure they could help - whether it be bringing food for someone who couldn't walk well; or cleaning the room thrice a day. Also, if you're South Asian, the staff were more than happy to bring you a handmade roti/chappati at Windjammer Hall - all you have to do is ask! -Entertainment: evenings were fully booked! Theater, dance, drama, movies, dance nights, you name it - it was all there. -Sports: I loved the mini golf and table tennis/ping pong! Jogging track was great -- jogging while staring at the ocean, who wouldn't like that! -Serenity/ease: The ride was smooth sailing. Not a moment of turbulence AT ALL. At times I had to look outside to ensure we were even sailing, it was that smooth! -Timing: We were at every destination at the times promised. -Ease of embarkation and disembarkation at all ports: NO long lines, no waiting for ever - everything was smoothly handled thanks to the security staff throughout. -Views: Lovely Baltic Sea views throughout, to help you de-stress, unwind, and just enjoy the sea! -Food: Can I say food, food, food! The Windjammer Dining Hall (included in cruise price) has unlimited breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and dinner buffet. And the buffet was extravagant - 50 dishes (minimum!), salads, vegetarian, chicken, meat, sea food - gluten free, catering to whatever your dietary restrictions may be. They had a special theme every night, so we had Spanish food, Seafood, Indian food, French food night among others. -Snacks: No matter what time of the day - you will find unlimited tea, coffee, snacks, chips -- especially at the Park Café on Floor11 :) -Attention to cleanliness: We were really impressed by the attention to cleanliness - all public spaces, Centrum, public bathrooms were always spotless; and they had unlimited hand sanitizer there before you entered the Dining Hall. Really good initiative! -Lack of crowd: Although there were about 2500 passengers, 700 staff, at no point did the ship feel overflowing or crowded. This is thanks to all the space, and different entertainment areas they had, including multiple dining halls (Reflections Dining Room, Windjammer included in ticket price). -Cabin: We had an Ocean View Balcony view on Deck 7. This was ideal as since it is in the middle of the ship, it is very smooth and you can't feel the water. Having a balcony is recommended as it makes the room spacious, and allows you some air. Recommend. It was a double bed plus a bunk bed on top ( for the 3rd person); sofa; TV, bathroom, cupboard, mini fridge, AC etc. All in all, it felt a good size and not cramped at all. -Fellow passengers: Fellow passengers were friendly and nice. No large and noisy groups, no drunk people. Mostly families, singles, couples - everyone was decent and respectful. Read Less

I chose this cruise to see Europe the staff was so friendly. Everyone knew who you were and the entertainment staff was just amazing. The ports of call were so different from the us and Beautiful. The cabins were a good size for a family of three. The restaurants had a good variety of food and the Windjammer Café had a great buffet style to it. They had a awesome variety of activities to do on the ship and the cruise compass paper was very helpful to understand what was going on around the ship. I did the all access ship tour which you got to see the bridge the engine control room the galley and so much more it was a great experience. We did a specialty dining restaurant called chops Grill which had a amazing variety of steaks and seafood I recommend having the seafood tower the price for the restaurant per person was a reasonable price. The cruise overall was fantastic. We went on a 12 night cruise to Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Sweden. The ship was great. It was clean and well kept. My husband and I chose a balcony room. Our room attendant Abdul was the best we have had in all of our cruises and we are well over 20+ cruises. The balcony is especially important when sailing though Sweden, the country has thousands of islands which are beautiful when you are coming into port. We used RCCL for all of our excursions except for Russia. I booked my own private tour company in St. Petersburg. Starting from the beginning Skagen was very nice and we did a cruise tour there. It is interesting because that is where the North and Baltic Seas meet. Talllinn what fantastic. We happened upon their music festival which added to the fantastic day. The city tour was great and we had a wonderful tour guide. We ended up at the Skagen brew pub and had a great time which rounded out the day quite well. For St. Petersburg I chose a local company call Alla Tours. There were five of us vacationing together and I found that booking a private two day tour with Alla with our own personal guide and driver was cheaper than the two day bus tour with our cruise line. Alla Tours was fantasic. We saw everything from the Hermitage and Church of Spilled Blood to Peterhof Grand Palace. We took a canal ride and went to some small local restaurants for lunch. We squeezed in Swan Lake in the evening. All things compared the best way to go is a private tour if you can manage it in St. Petersburg. Finland we had a great guide on our cruise tour, we visited the Vodka Bar and were dropped in the square for a bit of shopping. Easy taxi ride back to the ship with no trouble. Helsinki was beautiful. Stockholm, we had our own personal tour guide amongst our party of five, she lived there for a bit. The city is magnificent. Copenhagen city tour was a bit disappointing. It was a three hour walking tour, followed by a one hour boat ride. The walking tour was absolutely packed in the city, our guide was great but there was a lot of congestion and we had a very hard time seeing the sites. The boat tour was subpar and kind of boring. The food on the Brillance was very, very good. On our 12 night cruise we did go to the speciality restaurants on board which were outstanding. The onboard singers and dancers were great. The headliners were just OK. There was a ventriloquist and he was very good. They had a Beatles headliner band and they were just OK. With regard to the weather we lucked out! We were very lucky the weather overall was warmer and sunnier than usual. Little to no rain and sunny for the most part. Amsterdam was lovely we spent a day there before we boarded the ship. All in all if you ever have the opportunity consider this itinerary! Read Less
