We booked this cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. We have cruised with Princess before, and again ,we were not disappointed. This ship was absolutely beautiful , the entertainment was great, and the service was second to none. We really enjoyed Eating at the complimentary Alfredo’s Pizzeria ,sit down restaurant, There were many delicious food options to choose from at the Horizon Buffet , and the dining room experience is always our favourite. The piazza provides a perfect area to relax and enjoy some live entertainment while enjoying a sweet treat or drink . Using the ocean medallion was very convenient and we enjoyed this option. Embarkation was much easier and faster using this option. We found that The crew were friendly and very helpful. They were very efficient ,especially considering how new this ship is, We enjoyed everything about this ship ! We would certainly rebook a cruise with this ship. Read Less

We ate most of the time in Club Class, the food was Excellent and the entire staff in Club Class was Excellent ! We also ate in Alfredo"s for lunch at least 3 times it also has Excellent food. The staff was good. We ate a couple of times in the World Fresh Market and for a buffet it is real good. Nice new design all these places. The only thing we has a small problem with was our room steward got ill and his replacement was no where as good as he was, also there was a communication problem with him. It was taken care of by the Hotel Manager after the 2nd day. We did get our room steward back and was the best. We did not like what the new design of the Sanctuary took out lounge chairs and a area that you could sit under away from sun and rain. They added more Cabana's and put in 1 Hot Tub. Entertainment & activities are real good, the entertainment various no-one is going to like it all. The mini suite is also updated and nice, the balcony is small not much room Read Less

First of all I want to say that my husband and I are Elite on Princess and have been Elite for about seven years. We were also on Royal Princess for 49 days in February and March 2019. That being said, we were excited to sail on the brand new Sky Princess and were shocked and dismayed at the incredible decline in service and food quality in just nine months. Over the years each time we boarded for a new cruise, this feature or that was cheapened, vanished, or became an upcharge. I must admit also, this was the first cruise that we didn’t buy any future cruise certificates. Cabin - We had a forward mini suite on Deck 12. We were not offered our welcoming glass of champagne that all suite passengers are supposed to get on either the first seven days or the second seven days. Bars of soap are no longer available. The Elite toiletries bag was not provided. I asked for it and was told the gold bag was no longer available. No more hair conditioner, no more tubes of lotion. My room Stewart handed me a nail file, a linen freshener, a shower cap, and a tube of chapstick. He said they put it on a towel now. We had already been aboard for two days. It took two days to get our bathrobes and Elite cocktail guides. The lights behind the sofa were constantly not working. Maintenance got them both working for about two days, then back to only one light again. There are two TVs in a mini suite. If you are sitting on the sofa and attempt to turn on one TV, they both come on. To turn off the second TV you must take the remote to within one inch of the TV then you can turn it off without turning the other TV off. It was aggravating. Non skid bathtub mats were also no longer available. Food Sabatini’s- There is a new menu so we thought we would give it a try. Big mistake! The upcharge is now $25. We expected better than what the buffet served. First, menu descriptions do not match what you actually receive. The bread is the same as every other dining venue. The appetizer was not as described. We got some kind of pastry puff instead of the wheat loaf. The fried zucchini while tasty, was three McDonald’s French Fries size pieces with two strings of yellow squash. They came with a slice of very stale bread with a glob of cheese melted on it. Just plain nasty. Next came the pasta course. I got the trio. They came in small baking dishes. What I actually got was the exact same lasagna paste served in the buffet, what was called chicken parm but turned out to be cubed chicken, half of which was breaded in a tomato soup sauce with a few salad croutons, a leaf of spinach, and a sprinkle of cheese. The third pasta was a rigatoni with pasty Alfredo sauce and mushrooms. I choked down the Alfredo pasta and pushed the rest away. At this point I began to complain how awful it was. Next course was fried sole. The fish was very fishy and tasted very old to the point of being spoiled. Needless to say I pushed it away. Hubby had seafood linguine that had no linguine! What he got was thin spaghetti with two shrimp and two clams in olive oil. Next he ordered the veal. He got two paper thin slices with a leaf of spinach in between, covered in brown gravy and mushrooms. The veal and the spinach were the same size. At this point, we again said how awful the food was. We got up to walk out. We asked where to pay but we were not charged. We then ended up getting a hot dog. World Market Place - Is the Horizon court with a new name and worse food and service. Food is a matter of taste so I will speak to quality and preparation. All over the ship passengers were talking about how horrible the food was. I got mashed potatoes with with hard cubes of nearly raw potatoes. I later saw mashed potatoes nearly brown from reheating so many times. Cheap cuts of beef brisket were served nearly every day. All food looked warmed over and most vegetables were previously frozen. Before our first seven days, the ship ran out of lettuce. We saw lots of people eating salads. Soups were mainly broth based with not much of anything in them. I noticed one woman who got rice in the buffet and vegetables and broth in the bistro. The day after formal night the buffet had a lobster dish with the tails cut into 3-4 pieces shells and all covered in a red sauce. Looked nasty to me. Food on the buffet was never hot. By the time you got to your seat it was tepid at best. Horizon Bistro - We got many meals here. You can make your own sandwiches, salads, tacos, or nachos. It was always crowded. Layout of the taco bar is backwards and you have to move back and forth to get meat and vegetables on your tortillas but it was edible. International Cafe - sandwiches and salads were edible. We ate breakfast there most every day. The panini press is gone but a new type of oven replaced it. It seemed to do a good job without ruining anything. Salads are now served in jars, about 2/3 cup per jar. Condiments are gone. You have to ask for ketchup to be put on your plate. At the coffee bar, sugar packets and coffee stirrers are gone. The biggest complaint is the muffins would be served no matter how stale and hard they were. If you really paid attention you could avoid this by remembering the muffin assortment from previous days. Salty Dog Grill - Real hit or miss. Real American cheese on cheese burgers was replaced with American Singles in plastic. It was hot on the deck and the grill cooks has issues getting the plastic off the fake cheese and the fake cheese stuck to their gloves. No cheeseburgers for us. The tacos at the grill were disgusting. Prefilled tacos were reheated on the grill. Soggy where the filling was and hard elsewhere. One bite and they went into the trash. Grilled chicken sandwiches were very thin. You really needed to order two and take the filling out of one of them, to get close to what we used to get. Hot dogs were just placed on the grill now. They were edible. French Fries were edible if you got them fresh cooked. Slice Pizza- The Lido deck pizza was very greasy. Lots of people were eating it. Not sure how they did it. Alfredo’s Pizza - We ate multiple meals here. The food was hot. Menu descriptions did not always match what you were served but, everything that was served was all right. MDR - we never ate there. We also heard the food was poor from other passengers. Entertainment - We went to one magic show that was just OK. We attended two movies in the Vista Lounge and two MUTS. There were lots of football games for football fans. Embark/ Debark- we were held up in the cruise terminal for about 2.5 hours because VIPs were aboard having a naming ceremony. Debark was a breeze. Internet - worked great when it worked. It frequently went out and took in room movies with it. Ocean Medallion- Personally, I don’t like carrying around a tracking device. It opened my stateroom door and recorded my transactions just like my key card used to do. I don’t see any value added to using it. Read Less

We like Princess and wanted to cruise on a new ship. The ship and crew provided a great experience we were hoping for. We have been on many cruises and this was the first time we have seen the captain more than once maybe. We saw the captain daily and often more than once. Having operated hotels for many years I appreciate that management style. You can't sit in an office or in this case the bridge and know what is really happening onboard. He was very approachable and interacting with passengers. This carried through the entire staff onboard. The ship is beautiful, food was very good, events constantly being held onboard, shows very good and the cruise director and staff put their all into entertaining us. Any new ship just like hotels will have some issues to be corrected but we experienced none on this trip. The entire crew staff were excellent and anxious to be of service. Some of the reviews surprise me but I know some expect perfection all the time which isn't reality. It's always the goal but some things are beyond being controlled. I have nothing but praise for this cruise. Capt. Tuvo set the tone to his team and it showed throughout. Our cabin steward Ryan was the best. Our cabin M535 was very nice and always clean and neat. We choose this cruise because friends of ours had never sailed before and wanted to do a shorter cruise to see how they would feel. They were concerned about motion sickness but this ship is big and the motion felt was very minimal. Pros -The ship is beautiful over all. She sails so smoothly even in the swells we hit in the Bahamas. -Our cabin A624 was well laid out. It wasn't the biggest balcony cabin we've had but it was a good size. -The Dining Room handled my dietary needs better than any cruise I've ever been on! It was a real treat to have a gluten free desert that wasn't just fruit and cheeses. -The live bands we're all very good. The stage show was interesting but the gamer theme was out of place on a cruise. I liked the comedian. -I never felt like 3000+ people were on the ship. There was a lot of personal space for relaxing. -The dance party by the pool looked like so much fun! Cons -The port at Ft Lauderdale was confusing with all of the construction. -The price was a bit steep per night but we were ok with it for the shorter itenerary. -The dining the first night was not at our usual table and seating everyone as they arrived at the dining room all at one time was chaos. There was a long line of folks waiting and the hostess was getting frazzled. She did the best she could but it was a lot on her. Once we were seated service took a looong time but the server did the best she could. -The wifi for Medallion was way inadequate for the number of people trying to access the app. We had tested it on a cruise last year with a handful of others on another ship and were so excited to see it in full production use. Still a lot to work out. -No sugarfree syrups in the coffee shops and no Stevia to use anywhere. -The bed in our cabin was coming apart -The choice of movies left something to be desired. Read Less

In order to give you perspective, we chose this ship based on the fact we had sailed on the Regal on five different occasions and were excited to sail on the Sky during her inaugural season, we have also sailed on Princess’ Grand and Crown class ships but prefer the Royal class ships, having said that, we have enjoyed every cruise with Princess. Embarkation: We embarked in Barcelona, although we have priority embarkation, there was no line up and we embarked within minutes of arriving at the port even though we had to pick up our medallion as we are Canadian and not entitled to have the medallion shipped to our residence. First impression: the ship is beautiful, modern decor, everything we loved about the Regal with many improvements such as the layout in Princess Live and Take 5. The public spaces seemed bigger and more open. The Piazza is beautiful and spacious. Alfredo’s and Le Mer both have outdoor seating which we enjoyed on a nice day. The center pool area on the Lido deck is great with 2 large pools and 4 overall on the ship. We were blown away by how great the ship looked. Service: we found the service to be as good as any on any other Princess ship. Yes the ship is new and there might be a few growing pains but that is to be expected. The crew were friendly and went out of there way to help, is the service perfect, of course not, worth complaining about, absolutely not. Overall it was very good. Our room steward was very pleasant and professional as was the dinning staff at our 7:45pm traditional dinning. Entertainment: we found the entertainment to be top notch, the comedians, singers were all great including the gentleman who appeared in multiple theatrical shows in London. Rock Opera was amazing then only to be outdone by 5 Skies. The two best production shows that we have seen on any ship. The cruise director and assistant cruise directors were also excellent in particular Rachel and Stephany, who in spite of a few rude guests and a physical altercation over chairs during trivia kept the fun and enjoyment going. Food: overall quality of the food at the buffet and main dinning room was very good. I can saw that of all the meals that I had on board that I was only disappointed once. The service was very good. The Crown Grill was good as ever. We read a few complaints about the elevators, not enough, too long a wait, etc., when exciting a theatre with a capacity of 900 is it realistic to think that you won’t have to wait for an elevator, probably not. Overall impression: our overall impression was very good to excellent, are there a few minor issues which no doubt will be ironed out, were we disappointed that the escape room was not operational, yes, did it ruin our trip, no. We enjoyed the Sky Princess so much that we are booking a Caribbean Cruise on her this winter. Read Less

We sailed on the third cruise of Sky Princess, 7 days in the Med. This was our 19th Princess Cruise so we do have a basis of comparison. I echo the sentiment of a previous reviewer about the inadequate elevators. The forward bank of elevators, outside of the Princess Theater, had only three of the four elevators in operation for the entire cruise. This is one of the busiest locations on the ship. The operating elevators through out the ship were extremely slow. Or was it too few elevators for the number of passengers? The earlier reviewer didn't mention the Nora virus. The second cruise was plagued by the Nora virus, passengers and crew members. Between the second cruise and third cruise boarding there was additional sanitation of the ship, which delayed boarding, room availability and embarkation. During our cruise the Captain reported several times a day about the enhanced sanitation required. Between 9 - 14 passengers "reported" being ill during our 7 day cruise. As a result, enhanced sanitary procedures took place everywhere. This was most notable at the buffet where everything was served. Passengers were not allowed to touch serving utensils, dishes, glasses, etc. This was an additional burden on the crew as well as passengers. This was our first experience with the "Medallion" and it worked most of the time. Several crew members complained about them. There was a learning curve to their usage. Food was very good and there were a number of new, for fee, dining locations. Sabatini's menu had changed, no steak and several other item changes.. Ship shops were definitely up scaled, more expensive and we had just been on the Sapphire Princess the week prior. We watched rehearsal for a new "production" show but the Sky Princess offered only one "production" show for the trip...Rock Opera. The show received a standing ovation but others complained later about how loud it was. Read Less

I’ll admit, this was my first cruise so maybe I don’t have anything to compare it to but I came away from this cruise totally thrilled. Sure there were hiccups, it was the inaugural cruise, but the very good far outweighed the bad. The Sky Princess is gorgeous, especially the piazza. Our cabin with balcony was more spacious than I expected with tons of storage facilities. Our steward was awesome and made me laugh the way he set out my pajamas each night. Thanks Ivan. I have never had service this amazing before. The food was fantastic. The bars, especially Vines, was also fantastic. I loved their wine flight. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. I had done my homework and was “ocean ready”. I had no problems with the medallion and I liked the bookmarking feature for daily events. I barely looked at the Patter. Entertainment was fantastic, especially the Rock Opera show on our last evening. The costumes and music were broadway quality. We did one ship’s shore excursion to Amalfi and while crazy expensive, it was very well done. I have motion issues and was concerned about that, but I almost forgot I was at sea, I felt very little motion at all. Smooth sailing. I was very sad to leave this lovely ship. I’d go back in a heartbeat! Read Less

We just came off the Sky Princess Inaugural Cruise from Athens to Barcelona (October 20th to the 27th). We then spent two days in Barcelona. This was our second Princess cruise, the first being the Crown Princess in 2007. We have also done 3 Carnival (with the children) an RCL to Alaska and Celebrity Reflection about four years ago. Princess is our favorite cruise line. We have already booked a transatlantic on the Crown Princess in two years. The Sky Princess is immense, everything seems to be “super-sized” inside it. There are so many bars and places to eat you cannot try them all. What stuck us the most was how friendly and happy the staff was. The Ship decorations are wonderful, but not over the top glitzy. We had a cabin on the Sun deck. It is the standard Princess Balcony. Serviceable, not a huge amount of space, but how much time do you actually spend in the cabin anyway. Our Cabin Steward, Franco, was good. He always had a smile and a hello for us, even if he was the way down the hallway. If we asked for something (like a couple of extra towels), it was taken care of immediately and we did not have to ask again. Even though our Cabin was on the same deck as the Retreat Pool, we never had a chance to check it out, other than walking through it. Not enough Sea Days, I guess. We had anytime dining and the most we had to wait was about 5 minutes on maybe two nights. Overall the food was good and better. There were some outstanding things, some average, but generally good. The Beef Wellington was terrific. A few of the main courses for a couple of nights were a bit over cooked and dry on occasion. It is hard to cook for 4,000 people. We ate at the Crown Grill one night and it was fantastic! Our server, Ygenvey, was tremendous, he really made the experience wonderful. The dishes were excellent. We really enjoyed the dinner. The World Fresh Market Place (Buffet) was your typical Buffet. Some of the stuff was good, some not. A large selection, but not everything changed every day, so there were a large number of repeats. I thought the scrambled eggs they had for Breakfast were terrible. They were mealy and tasteless; however the made-to-order Omelets were good. Lunch for us was a combination of the Buffet or the Salty Dog Grill and the Slice Pizzeria. Both were acceptable. One day we ate lunch at Alfredo’s Pizzeria on Deck 7. The service there was a bit slow, but the pizza and the Calzone made up for it. The International Café was always busy and had some terrific little bites and desserts. My Wife had a Coffee Package and was there at least twice a day! Our favorite place, however, was Take 5, the Jazz Club on Deck 6. The music was nice, but the real draw were the three bartenders, Emil, Raisa and Wynn. We went there every night after Dinner and if we went to the Show. They became like old friends. We had a wonderful time sitting at the bar talking, drinking and listening to the music (although the musicians talked a little too much). The Princess Shops were a little disappointing, I thought, compared to what I remember from past cruises. The Sky Princess is a Medallion Cruise. The Medallions worked well. As you approach your cabin door, it recognizes you and unlocks the door. Otherwise it works like the old cards. You give it to the server, and they scan it when you order a drink or purchase something. We did not try ordering drinks with it at our seat, as everyone was so anxious to get your drink order. Manny, on the pool deck was terrific. He remembered our names, knew what we wanted to drink right away and was so friendly and attentive. It was nice when we were at Take 5, we never had to show the Medallion. The ship reads it and the staff can see you are there and make the necessary purchases for you. They have also integrated the on-board pictures to the Medallion and have done away with the printed proofs. Now you go to a terminal scan your Medallion and it pulls up all the pictures they have taken of you. Of course, it does not always read the Medallion when the pictures are taken, so a staff member must show you all the “unaffiliated” pictures to tie them into your Medallion. Not a real issue. A couple of nits to pick, one more annoying than the other. The more annoying one first. It is hard to find the rest room in certain locations. There is of course a sign on the wall, but no door is indicated. Just a plan paneled door. You must know to open that one to find a little alcove with the men’s and women’s rooms inside. It could have more clear signage. The other one is that the ship was so new it did not have everything loaded. I forgot my cuff links for the formal night. In the past, I rented them. This time they had not loaded the formal wear items for rent yet. The second formal night, we say they had everything for rent, but by then I had solved the problem by buying some cuff links in Corfu made of olive wood. The absolute best element, however, is when the ship is leaving port and blows the ships horn, it is then followed by the horn playing a riff from the Love Boat Theme. Terrific Idea! Each time it sounded there were cheers and applause on the deck. To sum up, it was a terrific amazing week and the ship is the main reason why. Read Less
