So many disappointments. Where to begin?

Review for Grandeur of the Seas to Caribbean - Western

The whole thing began very badly, nearly deadly in fact. Within two hours of boarding we ate at the Windjammer, where apparently the chef puts cracked pepper in EVERYTHING. I have an anaphylactic response to peppercorns. There was no warning that it was in the food. It is a rare allergy but still, cracked pepper nor peppercorns belong in every dish. I tried something there a second time (pasta ...

Nice Cruise but...

EXCURSION BUYER BEWARE My husband and I were on 6 day western Caribbean Explorer of the Sea cruise that departed from Miami June 5. Overall, nice, good entertainment and hard working room and dining crews. The huge disappointment came from Jamaica Falmouth, where they canceled our excursion of choice to Rose Hall, after an hour of waiting, and offered Go Native excursion instead. By that ...

Background- this was about our 15th cruise on Royal and we are diamond level. It was a husband, wife and 21 yr old daughter cruise. There were lots of disappointments as well as some good times. We are not snobs but we paid a lot of money for this cruise and it wasn't all what we remembered cruising to be like. Overall, any cruise is a good cruise and you have to roll with the punches which we ...

RCCL Has Gone Downhill

RCCL used to be my favorite cruise line. I have over 30 cruises, including RCCL, CCL, NCL, and DIS. I couldn't wait to get back on a RCCL ship after years of cruise cancellations due to the pandemic. I did two CCL cruises this year, in Feb and Mar. But I kept telling people how much better RCCL was. Well....not anymore. CCL is way better now, IMHO. What was worse since my last RCCL cruise ...

Covid testing

Review for Rhapsody of the Seas to Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean have now introduced a fifty five dollar covid testing for every passenger doing a back to back cruise. Although it had cost us sixty euros for both of us to get a covid test at Rome airport to embark on the cruise in the first place, RCL have now introduced this extortionate charge for passengers doing a back to back cruise (two one week cruises in our case). So please be aware of ...

Lots of work to be done

I apologize in advance for the length of this review. We chose this cruise due to the ports of call and based on the past experience we had on a Royal Caribbean Med cruise. Unfortunately, this time paled in comparison to our previous trip. I recognize that this was the first sailing of Rhapsody of the Seas since Covid but being as it was the last ship in the RC fleet to launch, you would have ...

Staff and supply shortages on an 80% Passenger load

Review for Explorer of the Seas to Caribbean - Western

This is my fifth cruise with RCL since their restart and by far the one that has been most impacted by COVID; yes, even this late in the ongoing pandemic. Bars ran out of Coca Cola (regular), a number of spirits and most beers and on the final day Bud Lite seemed to be the only one available. Staff was overworked and Izumi was closed except for lunch on 2-3 days. Capacity controls were in ...

Happy to be back on Harmony but food was disappointing.

I think we were just so happy to be back to cruising but, honestly, it was not the quality we expected for either the food or entertainment options. The food at the Main Dining Room was not great and our 2nd visit to Wonderland was also lackluster. Service was steller but not enough activities to keep us entertained. Drinks were different depending on the bar. Lines for My Time even with a ...

Older female sailing solo, I chose this cruise to go to Labadee. I had missed the port earlier in the year due to civil unrest, and chose this particular sailing (6 days) due to the ports and pricing. She also sailed into Falmouth, Jamaica and Perfect Day at Coco Cay. When arriving to the port, it was a free for all. Noone had respected their check in times, and all showed up early. ...

overall the cruise was quite enjoyable

The reason for choosing a cruise was to visit the Caribbean islands for the first time and enjoy an experience that would serve the whole family's needs. We were a party of 6 ( including a toddler and grandparents) For us we have appreciated the comfort, the ease and security of a good choice of healthy foods ( being a vegetarian) with a sea surrounding accommodation for a few days and some good ...
